VISITING HIS CHILDHOOD HOME (SURPRISE)
On today's vlog, I head to Toledo, Ohio with Nivine to check out David's childhood home and bring the footage back so David can take a look. Watch as we check out the bakery his mom worked at, run into a very scary neighbor and find out that David's hometown has become sort of dangerous. Also, I do a show with James Murray form the Impractical Jokers and we get to watch me deal with an unruly heckler. Then we head back to LA, and have David react to the footage.
This is my friend David, and this is his house.
But actually, David came from quite humble beginnings.
So I traveled across the country to Toledo, Ohio to see his childhood home.
Well, I was already going there for stand-up,
but it was at least a 30-minute Uber ride out of my way.
One or two shootings a day for you.
My plan was to film his childhood home, talk to his neighbors.
Just be careful. I don't want someone to shoot you.
Say hi over here. This is my friend's childhood home.
He wanted to see if we could see it.
And bring back the tape.
Here we go. Are you ready?
So David could reminisce on simpler times.
But before we do that, I've got a stand-up show to do.
Wow.
The Shining Musical.
People are walking in. People escorting us.
The Shining Musical is going on right upstairs.
Maybe we can jump on.
I'm going to grab an axe and go through the door.
Oh, this is way better than the Funny Bone.
The Funny Bone is great.
You know, this is hilarious.
Damn, that's great.
Before we get more on stage, we've got a great comic coming up.
Give it up for Jason Neistat!
It's a great show, man.
I got here yesterday.
I flew Delta.
What's that?
I'm trying to do it right now.
That's disgusting.
I don't like the way I look at all.
I have a fiancée.
She's 19 years younger than me.
Yeah, a lot of people don't like that.
But I don't know why she's with me.
A lot of people think I'm a weirdo.
You know, I think she's the weirdo.
You know what I mean?
What'd you say?
Is she single? No, she's not single.
She's with me. Keep up.
It's illegal?
It's not illegal.
She's 31.
Do you know what math is?
Just because you want to be with me and you can't.
I turned 50 this year.
Thank you.
I'm going to kill myself next year.
Did you guys know you can't kill yourself with your Tesla in your garage?
I was under $3.
I put towels on the garage door.
Nothing happened.
Thank you.
Such a great experience.
Really big crowd, you know.
Much bigger crowd than my shows.
Because that's where I'm at with everything.
I'm just kind of like, eh.
I'll just keep going until I drop dead, you know.
Whatever. It doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter if the videos get a lot of views.
It's just like, whatever.
Just do my best. Right?
People can sense that.
When you stop caring, people like that better.
I really don't care.
No, I do.
After the shows in Ohio were over,
Naveen and I flew back to L.A.
to surprise David with our little gift.
What's up, guys? We're here.
This is exciting.
Not often you get to fly private.
It makes you feel really good.
No security.
I haven't flown private in a few years, I think.
Wow, this is a beauty.
Let me take a look.
Oh, my God.
Holy cow, bro.
So, you have a car service?
Here we go. We're getting some action.
We're getting some speed now.
I haven't seen iMovie in years.
Remember? You used to know it well.
You used to be pretty good at it.
How do you play?
Spacebar?
Spacebar.
Here we go.
All right, guys. We're here.
This is the Haas Bakery where David used to hang out as a kid
where his mom worked in Toledo, Ohio.
Apparently, it's not the best neighborhood anymore,
but they are close.
Down there is where we live, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, wow.
Do you remember the Haas Bakery?
Of course.
Oh, God.
This is where I used to hang out as a kid.
Oh.
Let's take a look inside.
Oh, yeah.
Do you remember it?
Hell, yeah.
Because I remember when my mom used to work at this bakery, right?
Yeah.
And then she told me she was haunted,
or she told me it was haunted.
And then I always, in my dream,
not in my dreams,
but every time I think of the bakery,
I think of this exact thing,
and I think of the ghost in this doorway.
Oh, wow.
Yeah, yeah.
So, I definitely remember this.
Famous Haas cupcakes.
All right, we tried.
Let's go check out his apartment.
He said it was the one to the right.
Wow, that's crazy.
Is it that one?
I think so.
This one.
Just be careful.
I don't want someone to shoot you.
Right.
This is crazy, dude.
It's what?
It's terrifying.
Hello?
No, don't do that.
What if I came out as a kid?
Just say hi over here.
This is my friend's child at home.
He wanted to see if we could see it.
Hi.
Can I help you?
I'm so sorry to disrupt you.
One of our really good friends,
this was their childhood home,
so we just wanted to see if anyone lived here,
and we just wanted to see if it was possible to see it,
or if you're a super video.
Yeah, it's kind of crowded in here at the moment.
Oh, okay, no problem.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
I appreciate it.
All right, bye-bye.
Dude, what if that was a syrup guy?
No, he was.
He was kind of scary.
Was he scary?
And he closed the door a little bit.
Did you see him?
No, I think he's, like, a hoarder or something.
Like, he was hiding the place,
and then he gave me, like, a look up and down,
like, I dare you to try.
So I was like, all right.
All right, forget it, forget it.
He really scared me.
All right, well, we tried.
Oh, my God.
I like it on there.
What the hell?
Jesus Christ, Naveen, that's our car.
That's our own private thing.
And that was different than the one you sent me last week.
Let me just see this,
because I wanted to see this part real quick.
Yeah, you should see it now.
That's so cool.
No?
You said there's a shooting every day.
No, we used to live in a place where
there'd be, like, a shooting at the park,
and I'd run home to my parents, like, excited
that there was going to be some action.
And I'd be like,
there's going to be a shooting today
where I'm going to watch them all across the street.
But then my parents would be like,
we have to get inside,
and go into the closet,
so I'd open the window.
It didn't make any sense.
I mean, and never actually the shooting happened,
but it was always gangs would drive by.
Really?
It's tonight.
Or, like, it'd be, like, word of mouth.
Really?
But, yeah, I grew up in that one.
You grew up in a tough neighborhood.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know, I found YouTube, and...
Got your family out of there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
My dad bought me my first camera
right after I got into my first gang war.
And the rest is history.
With you and Elliot?
You know, yeah.
This is sick.
Thank you for doing this.
When I go to Paris,
I'm going to hide something.
Okay.
I don't know how you guys get it when you guys go.
Okay.
That'd be fun.
That'd be really fun.
Nothing expensive.
No, I'll hide, like, um...
Hide, like, a piece of bread or something.
No, bread might be eaten by the rats.
I'll hide, like, a coin.
Like a Doberman's coin.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
Heard I finished this burger in 17 seconds,
and she thinks it's extremely easy.
That's not a long time.
I'm going to finish it in 10.
Okay.
Okay, ready?
And you have to swallow.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Hold on.
But you have to swallow.
You have to show your mouth, okay?
Ready?
Wait, wait, wait.
I'm going to laugh.
I've never been in one of these.
This is kind of weird.
Cheers.
Okay, ready?
Three, two, one.
Go.
Oh, David's going to...
P.R., come on.
Come on, David.
Swallow.
Quick.
Wow, that was a new record.
A record?
New record.
Huh?
Not talking ---- now, huh?
What's up?
What is that?
I thought you were going to put something in mine.
No, I didn't.
I told you guys.
I'm defeated at the house.
He's 400 pounds.
Crazy.
Thank you.
Damn, Dave, new record.
