Well, most flights at Bradley International Airport were canceled
today due to the blizzard conditions. 22 News reporter Nick Antonakis was at
the empty airport this morning to get an update from officials on when
travelers can expect a return to normalcy. Bradley International Airport
was quiet this morning, with the blizzard putting more than 90% of
flights on the cancellation list. Public information officer Brian Spiros
explained that the last remaining flights that weren't canceled aren't
flying out, but rather are flying in. It's not a full 100% because we
actually do have a few airlines that, as of right now, are scheduled to bring
in some arrivals here to Bradley later tonight. So we'll wait and see what
happens with that. So with the heavy snow and gusting winds outside, we're
left with an empty Bradley International Airport inside. It's
different. You're not used to seeing an airport empty like this, but it's also
good because it means people were able to stay home or stay in hotels, and
they were notified early enough by their airlines that their flight would
be canceled. Spiros says the goal is to have things slowly return to normal as
crews at Bradley continue to constantly clean up after the snow. He expects
airlines to hopefully start getting aircrafts in tonight or tomorrow, but
says not to expect normalcy right away. I think the biggest thing to underscore
right now is that once the storm wraps up, things aren't just going to return
to normal right away. It's going to take the airlines a couple days to get
back up and running. So people, if they're traveling tomorrow, even into
Wednesday, should really be checking the status of their flight because we may
see those residual cancellations and delays working for you. Nick Hanson,
