Mr. Speaker, we've heard enough about what happened to Logan Tipton.
I want to take a minute to talk about the child that was Logan Tipton.
Logan Tipton was an incredible, one-of-a-kind child.
He was the treasured son of George Dean Tipton and Heather Pujol Tipton.
And by the way, Dean Tipton is with us today in the Annex, as we have passed a bill with his son's name.
Logan was born in Lexington, Kentucky. He was a loved student at Simmons Elementary.
He was taken far too soon at the young age of six.
He was a valued member of the Woodford County U6 Yellow Jackets football team,
where he was named the best offensive lineman for Woodford County.
His memory was paid tribute once again as this body passed Logan's law in his honor
and joined his devoted family in challenging all of Kentuckians to love like Logan.
That's what Logan did. He loved everyone.
He was truly one-of-a-kind, and I think about a story that Dean likes to tell about Logan.
Very shortly before his death, he was in a Sunday school program, and Christmas was coming up.
The pastor asked the children to write down what they were going to give Jesus for Christmas, for his birthday.
Every student wrote something down except for Logan.
The pastor asked Logan why he didn't write anything down,
and he said that I'd already given Jesus everything that he wanted, which was his heart.
He was a one-of-a-kind child, and today we honor him.
And for further words on Logan Tipton, who will be forever missed and remembered in this commonwealth,
I yield to the gentleman from Woodford 56 for further remarks.
Chair recognizes the gentleman from Woodford.
Thank you, gentlemen.
I don't know what to say about Logan Tipton other than that he was a very special young man that touched a lot of lives.
We lost him at a very young age, but I know for a fact that I wouldn't be here today if it was not for him.
It was that tragedy that gave me the motivation to run for office in the beginning.
I want to thank his father for raising a fine young man, and his father is in my office right now watching this on television.
I just don't know what else to say about this young man.
I would ask that everybody here, though, join me in a moment of silence for him, please.
Members, please rise for a moment of silence.
Mr. Speaker, I commend the Tipton family for their fight.
This is just the beginning, but we remember Logan Tipton today.
I move adoption.
Without objection, so ordered.
