Hey y'all. Welcome back to a new vlog or welcome if you're new here to my channel. I'm Keri Lynn and today I'm going to bring you on my very productive day. So I'm going over to my mom's now to help her sample some paint. I actually have some paint strapped in the car seat behind me here. It's agreeable gray. It's the color I always use in my house. I absolutely love it and she's gonna sample it see if she likes it before we go buy enough paint to paint the entire bedroom and she took out the bedroom set that was my grandma's in that bedroom and right now the room is just empty. She's got like a bed dresser in there. She's gonna we're gonna pull off the trim today, pick out paint color, go pick up paint, hopefully paint tomorrow. She's making her feel good. I'm really excited for her. She really deserves to have a nice space. So um yeah excited about that. I don't know what these plants are called but look how good hers is doing. Yeah this is yeah scary. It's me. Oh golly. I just got a coat on. Why is she got a coat on? She's chaffing. That's what she's doing. Chaffing. Chaffing. She's watching me. That's funny. Holy moly this room looks so much bigger. Wow yeah. Yeah wait till you get this carpet out of here. You even had a whole nother window behind there. That's insane. This is where that whole bedroom set was. It like took up this whole thing. I'll include a picture. Yeah you're gonna love this. You know I never noticed the wallpaper until today. I know. It's not bad mom. It's really not that bad. Yes it is. I mean the looks wise. I know I'm I'm peeling it and I'm just gonna use the drywall. I'm gonna do drywall mud and I'm gonna skim the wall. There you go. Oh wow. Yeah that'll be real nice. White white white. Oh you're gonna love the agreeable gray with that I think. I think so. Do you want to test it real quick? Okay where's your paintbrush? I didn't bring one. I figured you had one. Um I think that'll look pretty I don't know. What? It's not dry yet. It does look purple. It did in my dining room. It didn't in my kitchen. Tell me how that it look. Mom look at the can. Yeah it's not dry yet. This isn't dry either. Why is this gray? It's the green on the walls. It's gotta be. Look it up. Look up gray mixed with look up gray mixed with green. No this is not it mom. Now that I'm not looking at it and I look back it's fine. Try not to think of purple. No it's purple. It's not purple. Mom it's purple. How is it purple? Yeah now it just got like 10 times more purple. Yikes. 10 times more purple? Yeah over here this looks gray but no. Well let's see if it looks different on the wall. I can't believe how dark that gray looks. I know. Doesn't that make you wonder at your house? Okay see how it looks different in here too but. Oh it looks pinky. Hmm watch this be the color the whole time where we were trying to buy different ones. Okay oh that's pretty. I like that one. This sponge sucks. Is that the one? This is alabaster yeah. Ain't that some ----? Now go go from the wall to the to the end 31. Where's 31? Okay. Okay mark it on the wall. What 31 and a half? Well mark that. Well where's the pencil you had? I don't have a pen. Oh yeah right. Oh my gosh. I'm trying to show you. I don't want it with the sharpie. Oh you did it just a little bit. No I didn't. You didn't do it? Where's the pen? I didn't think it was that small. Do you not have a pen? No I don't mom. I took everything out of here. I marked it with a sharpie. You're gonna be texturing and painting right? Not on the wall. Oh you're not texturing? This wall's got a texture to it. Hang on let me get, let me get, let me get just wait. Oh boy. Oh it's gonna end on this side. 81 and a half. Wait. 83. I forgot. 83 and a half. I don't think I said 83. I'm pretty sure I said 81. Well I hope you said 81. No it's not. 80 and a half. Oh 80 and a half. Thank gosh. Well you know it's gonna be over there. I know. So we just need it over here. We need to move this stuff. I know I just want to see how far. You got me stressing out. Oh just buy a big ass set mom. It'll fit in there. So. Oh no. That's not funny. What makes you think it's funny? Why would you buy a bedroom without measuring it to make sure it would fit? I don't know if I had that big ass thing in here. What did we say this was again? Oh you said 80 and a half. Make sure you do it again. You got me nervous. Watch it won't even fit in my room. So 30 and a half for this. 30 and a half. Okay hand me the whole thing. 30. No. That's what I said. Yes it'll fit. 31 and a half. So I have just inches on both sides. It's just not going to be centered. Go double check that I ain't standing in. Okay. Because of the post. You know what I mean? Right just to be safe. Okay we're just going to rough estimate it's going to be right here. 30 and a half. So I'm just barely getting by. 31 and a half. 30 and. 31 and a half. You got lucky. What do you mean? Because that was that's close. Can you imagine if it didn't fit and you got all excited? I would just not put the headboard up. Yeah. Okay I'll start this one. Got a screw. Got it. I don't have to peel that off. It'll go. Screw gun. You want to show this fixing this? Sure. Look at all liquid nails. Yeah. See it fits in here like that. So I'm going to do a little. Here it comes. Use those nails to like pop it back in place. Yeah they're sticking out still. I had to hold my hand. It's not as steady as it used to be. Don't hurt your thumb. I'm not. Fixed. Yeah. Now I don't. Oh you know what I can do? I can just put it put a nail in here. I am noticing that we're gonna have to. Oh you know what? Let's. Why don't we. I guess it's probably better if you get it in place and then fix that. Oh we got this one too. Yeah you probably just liquid nails it real quick. Yeah. Well we got it open. And you have clamps. I just saw them. On the dresser. So now we're gonna fix the nightstand real quick. Okay. So this is super dusty in here so I'm gonna vacuum out in here as well. I used the knob off of the nightstand to fix this one and I have something similar to put on the other one so it'll kind of match. So I'm gonna look for that but I'm gonna go ahead and finish cleaning. Yeah I'm just gonna. There you go. Oh. Oh ----. Sorry. It didn't go down. You didn't do nothing. I know. I'm just gonna make sure I get enough in here. And over here. Look careful. I would stick it in here so you you're not. I don't want to put it down here because I don't want it to get on the wood. Okay. Right there. Together. Well I don't think it's gonna stay. No no. Like this. Okay. Hang on. You didn't do it. Like this. There. Yeah I'll hold it. You clamp it. There. Okay. I feel like that's. I could probably put a little more now that it's not. What? Let me put a little bit more. Yeah I think so. Well I didn't want it to drip down on the side you know. There you go. There you go. At least it'll hold. Why does it feel like. Like this. It probably is gonna try to come out but we'll pop a nail in it too. I'll bring my nail gun. Okay. That'll hold. See I think that one's a little thin. So you just use a bigger one. Yep. And then whenever you're ready you just pull it out. Pull it out and you're good to go. That's so smart. Can you do that with a caulk too? I'll be darned. See. Look at that. Yeah I've done that with the. That's genius. You know what I mean. Yeah. Good idea. Well here's the thing if you wanted to unscrew that. But I guess you don't need that. I don't need to now. Cool. That can just go in the garbage. We're just finishing up the furniture. Cleaning it. Getting the knobs switched over. Trying to match those a little bit. I think I have some that'll match the nightstand that we borrowed the handles from to put on the dresser. But it made more sense for all the knobs to match on the dresser instead of the one nightstand. We can always you know kind of match those similar and it won't be as noticeable. But here's one last overview of what the room looked like before and then we're going to talk about paint colors in just a couple minutes. I also just wanted to throw out there really quick. We tested out a couple different paint colors and watched throughout the day how the paint color changed. So please please let this be another reminder. Always always test your paint colors. Every room is going to look different. Every space depending on your flooring. The lighting. You want to make sure that you're testing paint before you spend money on it because you will be very disappointed if you spend a lot of money paint the whole room and you don't like it. Good morning. Today has been actually a couple days by the way. I am running to Duncan to get a coffee and then to Lowe's to pick up paint. Paint brush and that's about it. And I'm headed over to my mom's to work with her today. Paint her room. Working on whatever we can. The guys are gonna be fishing. Just gonna kind of make a day out of it so that's the game plan. I got a free star stick. All right y'all we're gonna get started with painting. We are painting the entire room alabaster by Sherwin-Williams. I'll have like a little code right here on the screen. I'm pretty sure it's 7008 but it is a beautiful creamy white. It's very white in some spaces but it does have those cream undertones. Certain lighting will have it pull like a little bit more beige yellow but it's just like a subtle amount. It's not anything crazy. I think this is a perfect color to brighten a space especially if you're not sure what color to use. I was going to use agreeable gray but I will tell you because of the lighting in this room it did not look the same as my house so this is why it's so important to sample your paint before you commit to buying a lot of it. Some stores will not let you return paint. Some do. Some won't so I don't want to like you know dictate what store is going to return paint for you but just be careful and make sure you sample. A couple of dollars is a lot better than spending hundreds on gallons of paint. So I'm using the Sherwin-Williams Ovation Plus and this paint is very very good. It has great coverage. One coat you could see was already getting rid of a lot of the green. I did end up using two coats so we used two gallons for this entire room and I want to go ahead and give you a warning. This paint for some reason is extremely strong smelling. It is going to clear the room. I can tell you that. So you want to make sure that you have a lot of ventilation. I've used this paint in the past and I do not remember it being this strong in particular. I feel like they might have changed the formula but even my mom was having a hard time being in the room as I was painting or as we were painting. She was like I got to leave. I got to get a break. So I tried my best to hurry paint it and then we left the room. Once it dries it does clear out but while you're rolling it will definitely take you out. So just keep that in mind especially if you have um like if you're sensitive to scents. I'm pretty sensitive. My mom's my mom's sensitive but not like as bad as me and she was even struggling so yeah um just wanted to put that out there. I don't want you guys to buy this paint and start using it and be like oh my gosh. So anyway while we were taking breaks I went fishing. They live right on the canal so I got my new bait caster for my birthday and we had like little fishing breaks to get some fresh air while the paint was drying and then after the second coat this is what it looked like. Um obviously the sun has went down so you're not going to get like the true color but you can really get an idea of what it looks like. By the way the hole in the wall we have some wood to cover that and trim. That was from them having to do plumbing work on the other side. That's where the bathroom is but yeah we made great progress. My mom even painted the ceiling. The only thing she hasn't done was the vent yet but she's going to take that down and spray paint that. All the carpet's going to come out and um new wood floor is going to go in and oh and the fan. My husband actually replaced two of them. They got some from a thrift store that was in a box. They look new. They ended up not working both of them so yeah they're gonna have to take those back. The thrift store said that we could return them so hopefully they don't give us any issues and um we'll have to get a new fan in here and like I said pull up the carpet, new flooring, the new bedroom set. It's going to look amazing. Totally different than what it did but here's before from the green paint and what it's looking like now. Stay tuned for more of these project updates. We have a lot of work to do still. Alright y'all I have an update for you regarding my mom's bedroom makeover. Now we've made great progress painting and all of that so far. She's done a lot honestly behind the scenes too but the plan moving forward I wanted to show you like a little rendering of like the layout that I put together to give you a visual of what it's going to look like and I also put together a vision board on what I would personally do to style this particular space based off of like what I know my mom likes and I just kind of went with a basic idea. So what I did was I put the rendering together, I put together a vision board and then I'm also going to have all the links down below in the description box in case you want to shop this look and find these specific things. Most of the items are from Amazon just to keep it pretty simple for this particular project. However, in upcoming videos I am starting a new series where I think I'm going to start with one every other week just because the amount of time and effort and planning that goes into this type of video but I'm going to start helping you guys style and decorate your spaces. I have all the info on how to enter to be featured in an upcoming video and a lot of you have already sent in your homes and I've already gotten to see like so many amazing projects that I can work on. I'm really excited to kind of branch out a little bit and put my budget-friendly decorating skills to use. We'll see what we can do with this um and hopefully it turns out well and I can help you guys and it'll just be fun entertaining content too. So like what what's it gonna hurt you know it's free it doesn't cost anything uh so yeah I'm really excited about that but let me go ahead and show you an idea of what my mom's bedroom is gonna look like. So here's the new layout to my mom's room. Now when you walk in the door instead of hitting that huge safe it is now wide open. You have the beautiful bedroom set now in front of you and it's all matching so that's a win. The floors are gonna be nice light wood color so it's gonna make the room feel so just airy and crisp. Now the window is a problem clearly so what we're gonna do is because the bed went from a queen to a king it made the window even more off-centered. We're gonna disguise that with curtains you'll see here and then on the other window we're gonna take them from floor to ceiling to draw your eye up instead of having them lower it makes the room feel short and like kind of stubby especially because she's got big furniture now so we want to try to make the room feel a little bit bigger and I think that's why it was a good idea to go with the lighter paint since this furniture is pretty large for the space. Then on the other wall she's got the dresser in the same spot it used to be she'll have the tv on top but the difference now is where the safe used to be it is now going to be over there in that corner tucked out of the way so it's not an eyesore as soon as you walk in the room. Also let me know in the comments below what y'all think but my mom has mirrors on her closet door they're the sliding mirrors. I personally love them I think it's perfect for her space because it is a small room and she already doesn't open the windows to let like natural light come in so I think it's the best way to bounce whatever light she does have going on in there but she wants to remove them and put like curtains up or maybe even just closet doors I like them and I think that they help the room feel a little bit more bigger especially with this new furniture she's putting in there y'all saw in the video she did not measure this stuff and it was like we were cutting it close like I think she's got two inches to spare so I think she's gonna need the mirrors but that's just my opinion I will be updating you as like they work on it too because there are some things I'm not doing like they have someone doing the flooring for them um she'll probably end up doing most of the baseboards while I'm trying to work on other things because I have obviously have kids and I can't go over there every day but I'm gonna try my best to help her as much as I can and share the process you know with you guys I want to be there for everything I was like can I help you work with the carpet I'll help you do the flooring she's like all right I'm gonna let him do it I'm gonna let him do it I'm like let me be here at least because I want to show it because I love this kind of stuff this is like what I love to do man if I can find a fixer-upper that looks like that and just like do this type of stuff every single day I'd be like the happiest little camper ever but yeah that is where we are with the project let me know in the comments below what y'all think so far and I appreciate you also don't forget to enter if you'd like to enter to be featured in the upcoming video for me to style your space I cannot promise to get to everybody but I'm gonna try my best to pick the ones that I feel like are gonna help the most people so don't be embarrassed either I don't plan to share any of your information I promise you um it'll all stay anonymous I just the only thing that I've asked is that you make sure that there's nothing like offensive or if you don't want your name or a photo of you or anything make sure that's free and clear from the space I know a lot of people have like their names on like you know plaques and stuff so if you don't want anyone to know who you are make sure you clear that stuff out before you submit your videos but or your photos just don't don't be embarrassed look we all start somewhere and if you have a struggle with a space I'm here to help like I love to do this kind of stuff so let me help you okay but anyway I will talk to you guys soon um and I will update you as soon as I get an update on my mom's room
