The temple is located on a hill in Hu Lung district, Lang Son province.
The temple worships Mother Goddess Phung Ngan, the spiritual guardian of the forests and mountains.
Inside, it also honors Chau Bi and other attendants in the Vietnamese Mother Goddess
belief. Built many centuries ago, the temple has gone through several restorations. However,
it still preserves its traditional architectural beauty. The structure reflects a blend of
Vietnamese and Chinese cultural influences, seen in its wooden columns, horizontal lacquered boards,
and finely carved parallel sentences. Today, Bac La Temple has become a popular destination for
visitors exploring Lang Son. However, the biggest festival takes place from the 18th to the 20th
day of the 9th lunar month, featuring the procession of Mother Goddess and Chau Van singing rituals.
From a wider view, the temple stands quietly among nature, preserving its cultural and
values through time.
