Today we are in Toledo Ohio at Franklin Park Mall! Opened in 1971 and Toledo’s only mall, it thrives with JCPenney, Dillards, and Dicks as anchors. Only missing a Sears, and not too many vacancies. They have the most beautiful Dillards I’ve seen, as well as fountains with dragons and a fireplace. It is really a beautiful mall.

Hey guys, I'm in Toledo, Ohio at Franklin Park Mall.
This mall opened in 1971. It is the only remaining
enclosed mall in the Toledo area. I guess unless you count Bowling Green
as Toledo, they got a dead mall over there, but
yeah, this is the only mall that they have.
It looks kind of dated from the outside, not terribly dated, like maybe
early 2000s dated. There's a parking garage
that's kind of different. I didn't expect to see that here.
I see a closed Forever 21, some closed storefronts, closed restaurants,
but from what I've heard, this mall will have put a few people in it.
Yeah, and I've never been here before, so let's go walk around and see what we
find. Let's check out these closed storefronts
in this parking deck. We might end up having to
explore that one, too. Their only mall.
And this is a Sunday at probably around noon. Rave Cinemas.
Yeah, if I had to guess, they probably gave this a facelift in the
early 2000s. There's a bunch of sheds for sale.
Forever 21, that is a big eyesore. Whatever that was
is an eyesore. This entrance reminds me of like
so many entrances that I've seen. Yeah, let's go in. You see anything in
there? Oh, wow.
B-R. What's B-R? I don't know if that's open,
but it looks very dark in there. It's probably closed. The doors might have been
shuttered. Out of order.
Oh, this is pretty nice. Are those french fries?
Look at this. That's the coolest thing. Look at those french fries. Those are
McDonald's fries from like two years ago.
I like those french fries. How do you guys like my old phone?
All right, here's the directory. Dick's, JCPenney, Dillard's, and a missing space.
Hey, do you know what the missing space is?
Is it a Sears?
Might have been a Sears. This is way, like yeah, I told you, come in here right
now. There was a Sears here that closed in
March of 2018. My guess was correct. So let's walk around. I came in through
the food booth. This place is nice. It does look nice.
It kind of reminds me of like Genesee Valley, if it was thriving.
Genesee Valley in Flint. I wonder if they're made,
I wonder if those malls were built by the same
company. Oh, look at that. Look at the fireplace.
That's awesome. I've never seen a fireplace.
I like it. Yeah, this this mall's thriving.
It gets really busy as like the night goes on.
Oh, there's Chick-fil-A. Closed for the for the day.
Cool restrooms. I love these designs. Look at this.
I'm gonna give this an A+. This is the coolest restaurant I've ever seen.
American Eagle coming soon. You'd have thought they might have
already had that store. Well, interesting skylight.
There's a couple of old things right here.
Coin Wishing Well and the Hurricane Simulator.
There's the Dick's Anchor. I want to see this skylight up here.
Whoa. Oh, there's a two-level to get sporting goods.
They got the Apple Store. This is, I guess,
the main, yeah, main hallway. This is a nice place.
I like the way that they did the the skylights. It's a unique design.
You don't really see them like that and usually in the middle,
but you know when they got an Apple Store it's like
upscale. Oh, there's Bill the Bear. This place seems like a really large
mall. The Leather Company. Pandora.
No, not a lot of, I mean, I don't see a lot of emptiness.
I did when when we first walked in with the empty
storefronts, like the empty restaurants that were out there, but I
don't see a lot. Well, okay, I see one, but I don't
see a lot empty. I don't see a lot empty in here.
There's where it would have said Sears. Empty storefront.
There's a lot of people here. Well, it is their only mall.
Oh, this is the nicest thing I've ever seen.
This is beautiful.
That's one heck of a mall fountain. This is my favorite mall fountain I've seen.
Look at this Dillard's. That is a beautiful Dillard's.
This is gorgeous. Look at all the coins in there.
Dillard's has enticed me. I must go explore it.
Let's go up the escalator. Is anybody else as impatient as me
and walks up a moving escalator? Let me know.
This is a beautiful store. Look at these
columns and the light up there. I was interested in this top level.
It looks like, uh, looking down to a balcony, but it looks
into the inside of the mall, and I don't think you can actually go on
it, but oh, that's really cool. I'm glad I
came up. Look, that is so awesome. Look, you can see the roof over here.
This mall is so awesome. It's, it's, it's a different kind of mall.
They've got some nice, they definitely got some nice elements.
Look at that. I love that. Look at the tile,
like, to make it look like a bathroom. This is one exceptional Dillard's store.
I could tell the owner of this store has a lot of pride.
Look at this beautiful elevator. Oh, look at the china.
Yes, to where? So, you know, you have the nicest Dillard's I've ever seen.
Look at the beautiful colors in the kids section.
I can give you something to look at when you're going down the escalator.
Mr. Bunny is here, and it's by the butterflies.
This is pretty cool. I like that. I've seen butterflies before.
Oakland. This upper level here, we're at the
Summit Mall in Fairlawn, and it reminds me of
Eastwood Mall in Nile, where it's like a fake upper level.
Now, what have I not filmed yet? Look, Franklin Perk Cafe. You should go in
there and try it. There's a couple empty, uh, I see a
couple empty here. This floor is really light. I don't,
yeah, no, I definitely didn't come down here. That's
incredible. Oh, that's the closed Sears. That is the closed Sears. That's not bad
what they did there. That doesn't even look bad.
I'm wondering if they have plans for it. They should put a big fountain there.
Yeah. Oh, that was a unique one.
Wait, let me see if I can do it. No. What did you do? I'll show y'all.
Okay. You don't have to stack those up. Oh, okay, okay, okay, okay, I got it.
It's like this. Like that? Yep. Yep. What is it? What do we call this?
Uh, I don't know, but down there is the closed Sears.
You are freaking amazing. I remember when I got a comment
that said, what you're doing is called nebshitting. You're just peeking into
people's businesses and you're being nosy.
Now, I delete comments that are like stupid like that and I try to stay out
of the drama, but I had the thought of
instead of letting these comments go and just blocking them, how about I
screenshot them and on a video I will call them all out
just for the fun of it. I don't know because I try to stay out
of the drama and I try not to give these people the
time of day, but it's hilarious.
It's like these people just, they just miss the point.
And I guess what I do, not everybody agrees with it
and they're not going to. Nobody's going to agree with
everything somebody does. Nebshitting, it's just so funny because
it's not that, it's curiosity. It's just, it's funny.
It's like they say, oh you're
putting your camera where you shouldn't and all this, but
it's a business and there's no one in there and it's closed.
It's like I don't go up to people's houses that they're living in
and look inside the windows. That's not what I'm saying. I can't.
These comments are so, they're so bad and if you saw,
if you saw these comments, because some of them they're just
so fun. They're, they're, they're too funny.
So I'm going to start collecting the bad negative ones and I'm going to start
showcasing them I think. I don't know. It's something I told
myself I, I shouldn't do. I shouldn't even
put it out there, but I just, I think it could be a lot of fun.
I think it could be a lot of fun to roast them.
And there's also a lot of controversy around
filming in malls. Oh, there's a sign that says no photography, so
of course you got kicked out. Okay, I ignore those signs
until I get caught and then I will leave. See, I don't know. I feel like people
think, some, some people think that I'm
disrespectful. I do things I shouldn't do. I
trespass. I do all this, but I do it with respect. I do it with,
with, um, I do it with boundaries and with, um,
with, with a level of respect. And I don't know. It's like,
I get these comments like, you're trespassing, blah, blah, blah. Like,
yeah, I am. And it's something, I mean,
I don't know. Do you yell at people for jaywalking too?
It's just like a really silly, some rules are just,
I'm actually very, um, I'm by the book in a lot of ways, but certain rules are like,
you know, like, who cares if somebody, if it's trespassing to walk
on, onto, uh, the property of an abandoned Burger King,
are you really a bad person for that? And for putting your camera up? And I just,
it's so hard to believe that there's people out there that, um,
really, really think that's wrong. Yeah. I think I'm going to roast these people.
I'm going to start collecting the comments and I'm going to roast them.
I'll make a video where I go through and I just laugh at them.
We can all laugh together, but most of my comments are very good.
They're very, uh, thought-provoking. They jog your memory.
Uh, but a lot of people give good details. They can fill in like,
you know, what the stores were or, you know, the history behind things and,
and that's what I enjoy. And I, I've been hiding and blocking the bad ones,
but I, yeah, I think it's time to roast these people.
Here's the Sears wing. Very nice. I like the plants. They put, they put
Easter eggs and, uh, I don't even really mind what they did with the empty,
empty storefront. This mall is really, really nice.
I better look at the other wings. There he is.
Okay, I don't know if I'm so good at dancing. You said no? You could do it.
You just shook your head. I didn't hear what you said. It's Manny Quackow inside of
Victoria's Secret. This is his first time in one and he's
having a great time.
JCPenney wing. The only wing I haven't seen.
I'm impressed with this mall. It's doing, I think it's doing
decently. Like, I'd say it's probably like at
85, 90. They need a little bit of help and hopefully
that will happen. Sunshine!
He's probably thinking about us. Yeah. Classic style JCPenney.
Play area looks pretty cool. There's no one in it.
It's really lit up over here. Yeah. Okay, here's the JCPenney.
Where's the women's at? Hey, where's the women's at?
Men's retroom. Oh, see. We're about to do an elevator tour.
Elevator tour. JCPenney. Lid pretzel. Going up. Going up. They put the
men's restroom down here and the women's upstairs.
Little shabby looking over here. Hey, did you go inside that Dillard's?
That Dillard's is the nicest Dillard's I've ever seen.
Whoa, this is one heck of an elevator. This is one heck of an elevator right
here. Elevator fans! Elevator fans, mount up!
We're at Toledo University. Go Mudheads! What is it for the elevator
fans? Guys, the elevator family, come on, let
us know. I don't see it anywhere.
I don't see it anywhere.
You guys that watched Manny's elevator videos,
please, please put in the comments. I'd like to know because I don't like...
Oh, it's in Montgomery. It's right there. It's right there.
Oh my goodness. Oh, there it is. I got it. We got it.
Make a comment anyways, guys. Like, comment, subscribe, and share to both
our channels. Let's go. Oh, this is liminal.
It's very liminal when you come up. Where is the restroom at?
I like this place. JC Penney's kind of known for, like,
not... I've seen... Okay, if you guys have been to the Southern Park Mall
in Boardman, Ohio, they're JC Penney.
Their store is very nice, but I've seen a lot of JC Penney's, though, that are
pretty shabby. This is... Like, I've seen leaky...
Like this. Like, leaky ceiling. They kind of...
JC Penney kind of, like... There's some not so
good ones, and they do this drywall thing. It's still not bad,
but compared to the Dillard's, it's not... I mean, you have the JC Penney.
It is really hard to find. It's not that nice, but it's also not that
bad. I don't know. B? I'm gonna give it a B
in bias because it was so hard to find. I would have
probably gave it a B. There's a light out. All right, and that will complete my
tour at the Franklin Park Mall in Toledo.
That Dillard's was so beautiful. The mall was
really nice, popular. They could use a few things filled, and just ignore him.
Whatever.
They could use some spaces filled, but all in all, I mean, that was a
great mall with some beautiful elements to it. The
fireplace,
water fountain. Just absolutely gorgeous, and I wish Toledo had more malls.
So yeah, I hope you guys enjoyed this, and I will see you
on the next video.
