Dear brothers and sisters have you ever wondered what would happen if an ordinary morning suddenly turned into something extraordinary
when we opened the door and stepped out onto the yard the familiar path and the row of trees ahead of us were gone
It was no longer the neighbor's roof but only a murky rising tide inching upward minute by minute
Have you ever imagined the moment the sky suddenly goes dark
The wind howled through the corrugated roof rain hammering down in urgent relentless bursts
And within just a few hours the entire village was submerged under
water The tables chairs and sacks of rice floated in the floodwaters
A lifetime's memories drift away with the rushing current
In that instant where will a person run to
What do we cling to when everything that once felt safe suddenly becomes fragile
For Vietnamese people those images are nothing unfamiliar
Every rainy season Central Vietnam braces itself against devastating floods
The gentle rivers suddenly turned into raging torrents sweeping away entire villages
In mountainous regions a single heavy downpour can trigger
landslides that bury the roofs of poor families' homes
In the Mekong Delta the water rises slowly but persistently
Climbing into every street every rooftop flooding the land and forcing people to live for days amidst the vast waters
Some families managed to grab only a few small belongings
Leo lên mái nhà or taking temporary refuge higher up he looked
on as everything he had was swept away by the muddy current
But what truly troubles many isn't just the
flood outside Sometimes after the waters recede
People realize that another flood still remains within them
It is the flood of anxiety of exhaustion
of an empty feeling without knowing why People
can build taller houses stronger embankments
yet still cannot overcome the sense of unease in their hearts
Some people live in cities filled with every convenience
lacking nothing in material wealth
yet feels herself drowning under
pressure loneliness and a life too rushed
o the point where there's no time left to stop and look within oneself
It is precisely in moments like these
that people begin to ask a profoundly deep question
If one day everything truly
collapses if all we've relied on for so long
is gone where is the true place of safety
Where water cannot wash away fire
cannot burn and darkness cannot devour
Today's message is not meant
to frighten you but rather to
gently invite reflection Amidst the upheavals of our time
There are still places where God has prepared for humanity
And if we know how to seek them even when storms rage
Our souls can still remain
steadfast When looking
at the news reports we often see images of storms
Floods murky waters sweeping through villages
But if we look deeper into the lives of people today
We will realize that floods are not only natural phenomena
there is another flood rising quietly but far more powerfully
It is a flood within the human soul
Today's Vietnamese people live in an era vastly different from the past
Life moves faster cities are more crowded and technology is more
advanced Yet alongside this many people also feel more exhausted
More anxious and prone to feeling lost
Many families live under the same roof yet each person exists in their own private world
Family dinners grew quieter replaced
by the glow of smartphone screens
Some people stay up late every night not because they lack
work but because their hearts cannot find peace enough to sleep
A flood of lies is sweeping through society where people
readily utter falsehoods to gain personal advantage
There is a flood of indifference when people see the pain
of others but no longer feel moved
there is a flood of selfishness
when everyone is only thinking of themselves and forgets
that life also includes people who need to be loved
And there is a flood of sacred dryness
when many no longer have time to pray
The habit of turning to God in quiet moments has faded away
That is why
many feel they are living amidst an invisible current
Outside everything might
still seem fine the work keeps
going life carries on but
inside it feels like a small boa
drifting in the strong current
without knowing where the shore lies People
can earn money
build a house buy many things
yet still cannot buy peace of mind
In the Bible
there was a time when the world also fell into a similar state
Sin spread so abundantly that the earth was suffocating
and God caused the waters to rise in the time of Noah
Yet even in the midst of the
great flood God preserved
a vessel to save those who would listen to His voice
That shows that God
never lets people sink
into despair He always opens a way forward
Always ready with a shelter for those who know how to return
Just as it is today
Amid the storms of our age
Amidst the invisible currents carrying away many
precious values God still
calls humanity to awaken
He did not come to shake the world to destroy it but to awaken hearts
that have been asleep for far too long
And when people begin to realize tha
I stand at the crossroads of an era
the very moment they begin searching for a true sanctuary for their souls
When witnessing major upheavals unfolding across the
world from devastating floods
to unusually powerful storms
Even to the massive wild fruit trees many people
often wonder why God
allows such things to happen
If You are all-powerful and full of compassion why
didn't You prevent such suffering from the beginning
This is a question humanity has asked for thousands of
years yet the Bible reveals something profoundly deep
God does not take pleasure in human suffering
He did not create disasters to destroy the world
Yet in His divine wisdom God sometimes
allows such upheavals to occur
o awaken humanity from the slumber of the soul
From time immemorial nature has often served as a language
at God uses to speak to humanity When people still
knew how to listen that voice was very gentle
But when people become arrogant
thinking they can control
everything nature begins to speak out more forcefully
Water fire and the divine
in the Bible are not
merely physical elements but sacred symbols
Water is first and foremost a sign of purification
In the time of Noah when sin spread across the earth
God has made the waters of the people rise like a great cleansing
Yet what is remarkable is that even amidst this great flood
God still preserves a vessel
rescues a righteous family and
sets a rainbow in the sky as a sign of His loving covenant
That shows that God did not abolish the
end but opened the
door to a new beginning
Fire is again a sign of truth and of purification In the
Bible fire appears many times
as a symbol of God's presence
The thornbush burning yet not consumed in the Book of Exodus is a
sign that God is present The fire
descending on the day of the festival
urned fearful people into bold witnesses of the
gospel but fire can also
become a sign of warning
When what must be burned away
is finally consumed the truth
may emerge After water and fire
only an empty spectacle remains
It reminds people that worldly
life is extremely fragile So much
of what we build can vanish in
an instant due to a single event
But the game is not merely a
sign of ending In nature it often becomes
fertile ground for new life Many
areas after volcanic eruptions
become greener than before
This is like the spiritual life of a person
There are times when we must go through losses
e failures the suffering
and then a new life begins Therefore when
seeing the people's water
Fire burns or spreads across the land yet the faithful do
not see only disaster—they
also see a gentle loving whisper
but powerful from God He is
reminding humanity that life
is not merely material nor
limited to things we can grasp
There is something more important
than anything else: the soul
and every person's relationship with God And when one understands this
People began searching for a more profound answer
If this world trembles
if storms truly drown everything
Where is safety now
Not the highest place
nor the most secure by worldly standards
but a place that keeps the soul from being swept away
And from here
we begin to explore those true sanctuaries
Amidst the upheavals of the age the first
place of safety is not a sturdy structure
It's not some distant place on the map The first place of
safety is family not just a
house made of bricks and stone
But it's a family that still prays together
In the life of the Vietnamese people
family is always the most sacred thing
Whether in the city or the
countryside whether rich or poor
home remains the place people return to after a long day
But a home truly becomes a sanctuary only when
it holds love forgiveness
and the presence of God
When a family prays together they are
building a vessel like the ark of old
A ship can keep them steady amidst the turbulent waters of life
Today many Vietnamese families are gradually losing that habit
Shared meals are becoming rarer
as each person is busy with work
absorbed in their phone and
preoccupied with personal worries
The family altar remains in the house
yet the evening prayers often fall silent
When prayers vanish from the home's roof
Human hearts gradually grow colder and more distant from one another
Yet just a small change can make all the difference
When a mother begins reciting the rosary with her family when
a father pauses for a few moments before the altar to pray
When the whole family makes the sign of the cross before meals those small
actions are like stones laid to rebuild the fragile foundation of a sacred roof
A family that prays is not a family without difficulties
—they can still face illness loss and challenges
But they don't face those things alone There
are simple stories that deeply touch the heart
During major floods in Central Vietnam there are families who have to
climb up to high rooftops to take temporary refuge amid endless floodwaters
Power out little food the future uncertain
Yet in the midst of darkness someone still holds a rosary and prays
Prayers still echoed through the small house And it was precisely
those prayers that became a light keeping them from falling
A roof may be flooded a room may be swept away but a
family that knows how to pray will not easily be overwhelmed
Where there is prayer there
is hope And where there is God
There is always a path to rise again after every storm life brings
After family the second place of safety a person can find
Amid life's upheavals is the Community of Faith In Vietnamese tradition the
bonds of village kinship and neighborly
loyalty have always been deeply cherished
When a household is in trouble the entire neighborhood rushes to help
When a family faces hardship many come together to share the burden
And in the life of faith the Community of God's
Servants is the most beautiful image of that support
Floods don't just wash away homes and belongings What's more
dangerous is that they can sweep away hope itself from people's hearts
When a person faces suffering alone
they are easily overwhelmed by
despair But when the community is
beside them the pain becomes lighter
because people know they won't be left behind
In many typhoon and flood seasons in Vietnam
heartwarming scenes have been witnessed
Some churches remain open all night to provide shelter for
people seeking refuge Some
missionaries organize cooking meals
Distributing food to families who lost their homes
Some laypeople waded through floodwaters
to reach isolated areas
o hand out each bag of rice each
bottle of water These actions may
seem small but they carry great power
They tell those who are suffering
at they are not alone A community of
faith is not merely a place where people
attend Mass on Sundays but a place where
individuals find support and encouragement
In our weakest moments that
is where someone prays with
us when we no longer have the strength to pray alone
It is a place where brothers and sisters are ready to
listen share and walk through
difficult times together
Many people say that in today's
era humans live closer together
than ever but feel lonelier than
ever Crowded cities social media
connecting people
everywhere yet many still
feel isolated That is why a Community of Fa
They have never been
more valuable When people
pray together help one another and share hope
They became a larger family
where everyone had their
place In life's storms the
community was like a great raft
A person may be weak but when
many people are on the same
raft they can support one
another to ensure no one sinks
And it is precisely in those moments
that God's love becomes tangible
through human hands that know how
to share After family and community
There is one place deeper
still where no storm can
reach— the heart that
repents and returns to God
Sometimes people
think safety must be
somewhere outside a
solid house a lofty city
There is a place free
from natural disasters
Yet the truth is that some people
living in sturdy homes still feel uneasy
while others who have nothing at all
Even with everything in hand peace
remains in the heart What makes
the difference is the condition of
the heart A heart distant from God
like a boat with no anchor
When the winds
of life blow
such a boat is easily swept
away But a heart that knows
returning to God is like
a boat securely tied to a
sturdy shore Life may grow
large the wind
may grow strong
But the boat still did not lose its way
Repentance is not an act
that makes a person weak
On the contrary it is a sign
of inner strength When a person
dares to confront their own
mistakes dares to ask forgiveness
and dares to begin again
They are opening
the door for God 's
grace to enter It is precisely
in those moments when humanity
realizes its own fragility
God drew closest to them
Many people only truly reflect
on spiritual life when
confronted with a great crisis
a severe illness
a accident a
family loss or a natural disaster
sweeping away everything they
had built Those ancient signs
making people stop and
wonder what truly matters
in life and many have
rediscovered their faith
In those very moments some people
after losing nearly
everything finally
realize that what was most precious
was still there all along—family love
and the relationship with God
When a heart learns to return
everything begins to change
Wounds are gradually healed
Worries gradually gave
way to hope Thus the
third safe place was
not in a higher land
There is a stronger wall than any
fortress— it lies within the heart of
every person When a heart learns
repentance and seeks to rediscover God
and knowing they have
placed their life in His hands that
heart becomes a refuge where
no storm of the world can reach
It can be drowned
After family after community
and after a heart that repents and returns
there still remains a deeper refuge
gentler a place where
many Vietnamese Catholics
have found peace amidst
the storms of life
That is the heart of the Virgin Mary
In the Vietnamese people's life of
faith the image of the Virgin Mary has
always been deeply close and familiar
From tiny statues of the Virgin
Mary in a corner of the home to
the rosary beads hung beside the
altar to grand pilgrimage centers
Hymns and songs like "Lạy
Mẹ" have become deeply
rooted in the spiritual
lives of many families
When facing difficulties people
often say a simple yet hopeful
phrase: just entrust it to Mary
What is special
about Mary is tha
Mother is no stranger to suffering
She stood at the foot
of Jesus' cross witnessing
her own child endure agony
and died on the cross
That is why
Mother understands human suffering so deeply
When a mother loses her child
When a family breaks apart when
a person feels they no longer
have the strength to go on Mary
does not stand afar and watch
Mother is near silently
supporting and guiding
them to God In many
painful events of history
People often see deeply moving
images related to the Virgin
Mary After major earthquakes
powerful storms or devastating wars
amidst the rubble one
sometimes still sees a statue
of the Virgin Mary standing
there covered in dust
but the face still looked up toward the sky
That image served as a reminder
that no matter how much the world shakes
God's love remains
and the Mother of God continues to
protect her children For many Vietnamese
families praying the rosary is the
thread that binds them together
connect them to that peace
Some mothers silently pray
each evening for their children
Some fathers
Even busy with work they still take a few
moments in front of the altar to pray to the
Blessed Mother for her protection over the
family Some young people carry with them
e rosary in their pocket serves
as a reminder that they do not
walk through life alone Holding
onto Mary's hand does not mea
life would no longer hold
challenges but that means
people wouldn't have to face
trials alone Mother is like
A loving mother is always by her child's side
shielding them from the storm keeping them from being swept
away by fear And it is precisely this presence that
provides the strength and comfort needed to endure
In their mother's arms many
have found the peace they
thought they had lost long
ago Looking back on it all
In this journey we can realize
a very important truth:
the four safe places we just
mentioned are not far away
They are not secret locations
on the map nor
are they special
territories accessible only
to a select few On the contrary
Those places are very close
right within the daily lives
of each person The first safe
place is a family that prays
where members not only live
together under one roof but also
direct their hearts toward God
The second place of safety is
a community of faith where people
support one another in times
of weakness and walk together
through life's difficult trials
The third place of safety is a
heart that repents and returns
where humanity rediscoveres
a living connection with God
and attain their own lives in His hands
And the fourth safe place
is the heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary
where countless generations
of faithful have found
Protection and peace Those
places do not demand wealth
from people nor do they
require extraordinary strength
Anyone can enter if they are
willing to open their hearts A poor
family can still
pray together A small
community can still come together
Even the weak can
be supported A guilty
heart can still turn
back to God And anyone
One can also grasp the rosary
and entrust one's life to
the Blessed Mother The world
today may be full of upheaval
Natural disasters pandemics wars
or social crises can make people
feel as though they are living
in the midst of a great storm
But what determines the outcome
isn't how strong the storm is
but what people are holding
onto If they're only clinging to
The fragile things of this
world will easily sweep
them away But if
they hold fast to God to family
o the community and under the
protection of the Mother of God they will always have
a place to stand firm
Therefore the most important question is no
The flood of the age will
sweep where More important is
the question: where is our
heart If that heart still knows
Turn back to God knowing
how to love and knowing how to pray for no matter how
fierce the storm may rage
Hope's light never fades
From these small yet
shared hearts God
continues to work quietly
Keep this world from sinking into darkness
As we reach
the end of this reflective journey
perhaps one thing becomes clear
More than ever before
What truly brings people to their knees
is not just floods
nor merely natural disasters
There are upheavals in the world The greatest
danger lies in when the
human heart becomes hollow
When the soul has nowhere
to turn the waters may
rise the flames may burn
and the earth may be covered
But if there still remains within the
human heart the light of faith the
prayers and love dedicated to God
then no power on
earth can overcome it
They could be overwhelmed
The world today may be filled with
instability causing many to feel anxious
News reports about natural disasters
War economic crisis or social
upheaval sometimes make people
feel as though they're living
through a storm with no end in sight
Yet amidst all this
God is quietly speaking
to humanity with a
gentle
invitation: return
Not returning to a physical place
but returning to the
true source of the soul's life returning to
a family that knows how to pray
where love and forgiveness
are cherished Returning
to the community of faith
where no one walks alone
Returning with a heart capable of repentance
where humanity finds peace
by placing their lives
into the hands of God
And return to the embrace of
the Blessed Mother Mary where
countless generations have
found shelter amidst the storms
The storms of life
Each of us may
be facing different circumstances
Some are living in peace
Some people carry deep worries in
their hearts unsure of whom to confide
in Others feel their faith is strong
while still others feel otherwise
I have gone so far from God
But the most beautiful thing
about God's love
is that He never closes the door
on anyone
No matter where we are
on life's journey the path
home is always open So
before closing this sharing
Please take a moment of quiet
reflection to look within your
own heart It may have been a
long time since you truly prayed
It’s been a long time
since we’ve stopped to tell
God how tired anxious and
in need of Him we truly are
But right now a simple
heartfelt prayer is all it
takes to reopen that door
If the words shared today
ouch your hearts
please gently like
and subscribe to the channel so we
can continue journeying together
the coming hours of reflection and prayer
And if within your hearts
there is a desire
a sorrow or something difficult to express
Please rewrite below
The community will join in unity
in prayer for our brothers and sisters
Let us conclude with a brief prayer
Lord
Clean every stain from
the hearts of your people
Renew the flame of faith
in hearts grown cold
Grant us strength to stand
firm amidst life's storms
and keep us safe within the
loving embrace of Your arms
and of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Amen
