We're going to the beach, baby!
You guys have to come here!
Every single day, Lama of the Beach!
Yeah!
Today we are in El Nido, and I am here with a very special guest,
the best Filipina in the Philippines, Ann from Dumaguete.
Everybody!
And we just arrived last night. It was quite a journey to get here, too.
It was an hour and a half flight from Cebu into Puerto Princesa, where we spent the night.
Had a lovely meal down on the ocean with some giant seafood on bamboo leaves, very fun.
And then yesterday we took a six-hour twisting and turning van ride
to get out to what people say is one of the most beautiful places in the world,
and I am so excited to explore.
But today is a little bit overcast, so I think we're going to rent a motorbike,
go check some beaches out, have some food,
and just kind of see what our first impressions of El Nido are.
Are you excited?
Very.
I can't wait, and we would like to share it to you guys.
Yes, we would. We'll see you there.
Alright, so we just left our hotel, and we're just taking a walk through the tiny town of El Nido.
There are so many restaurants, little tour shops,
so you can do some booking for the boat tours around here.
And they also have little side streets that you can stroll down and pick up souvenirs,
more restaurants, and yeah, it really does have that beach vibe,
and then those giant limestone cliffs all surrounding it.
And the accommodations around here are pretty expensive.
It is.
We actually looked a lot, and for what you're paying for, it doesn't really equate.
I mean, right now we're only a block from the beach, so that's great,
but I think we couldn't find anything cheaper than like $65 a night,
and the view from our room is a little hallway.
The view is viewing.
The view is not viewing.
Alright, and we just reached the end of the street,
and we're about to get our first glimpse of El Nido Beach.
Oh yeah. Even on a cloudy day, it's still gorgeous.
Wow.
You got the big limestone cliffs, and then just open beach with nobody on it.
Wow.
And there's lots of restaurants and things that you can see right here,
where you can grab some food or have breakfast and coffee down here in the morning,
which I'm sure we'll do one of our days here.
And this beach is nice, but it's probably not one of the best beaches here.
Those are a little bit farther away.
We're going to be going to check one out in just a little bit,
but this is a great place to come down, especially if you're staying in town at night,
to just hang out.
All the boats are coming in from the tours,
which are the best way to see the island,
and I'll be showing you some of that in one of our upcoming videos.
But last night, we came down here because we didn't get in until about 5,
and we just sat down, watched the sunset, had some drinks in one of the bars,
and it was really chill, like a really nice vibe.
There was live music going on.
So what do you think of the view?
The view is beautiful.
It really is. I get why people love it here so much.
Yeah.
You think we should go and maybe grab some food at that other beach that you were telling me about?
Yeah, I would love to. I'm starving.
Oh, no, you do not want a hungry Filipina on your hands.
Nope. Uh-uh.
All right, let's go grab the motorbike and head out there.
I can't wait.
We're going to the beach, baby.
Let's go.
The A-team, Ann and Adam.
Let's do it.
Is your ass hurting?
Yeah.
It does.
A little bit of bumpy road for the end there.
All right.
That was a long ride.
It was a long ride. It was about 35 minutes.
The roads were good for almost the whole way, but then that last kilometer and a half was pretty bumpy.
But what a beautiful ride out here.
It is. You can see a lot of mountains, forests.
Palm trees, nature, cows. Yeah.
Really nice.
We saw some terraces, rice terraces.
Oh, yeah, the rice terraces were really nice.
And then we paid 20 to park the motorbike.
And now we're just walking down to the beach.
We'll see.
Oh, my God.
Looks like we got some restaurants, coconuts.
Medium risk. High risk.
So medium risk today?
Yeah, today, yeah.
So be careful.
Well, you better be careful. I don't want to lose my Filipina.
Don't worry. I know how to swim.
Welcome to the sandwich, baby.
Wow.
And there's waves here.
I didn't realize.
And it looks like you can rent sunbeds here, chairs.
We didn't bring your hat.
We didn't bring my hat.
I was like, oh, I'm going to take care of you and stuff like that.
And we forget it.
You know, you think you can trust a Filipina and then I'm just kidding.
I'm just kidding.
Don't forget you are in the Philippines.
Everyone here is my co-Filipino.
No, thank you.
All right, well, let's go find a spot and sit down.
I guess it's 500 to sit in under one of the little umbrellas.
We can start out in the sun if you want.
It's okay with you.
I would like you to be a better person.
Okay.
Sorry.
Wow, it is beautiful here.
It's breathtaking.
Breathtaking for sure.
There's a lot of people here, but the beach is so long.
I think it's four kilometers from one end to the other.
And all these palm trees just like wrapping around with those little cliffs.
But I think the view here is probably better.
This one right here.
Just in case anyone didn't understand.
We're just Filipinos.
Yeah.
But most Filipinos.
Wow.
And there's a bunch of restaurants here, so maybe we'll grab some food, go for a swim.
Swim first.
What do you think? Are you hungry?
We can swim first.
Get more of an appetite.
Look at those waves.
I know, I didn't think there were waves here, but I guess you can rent boogie boards too.
Yeah.
And there's also lots of vendors selling pearls and necklaces and things along the beach.
And this is just one of the beaches here.
There's so many all up and down the coast and little islands you can visit.
Yeah, I wish I could say more because I'm a Filipina and I live in the Philippines, you know.
But this is the second time I'm here and yeah, I have feelings the same as you.
Wow.
Yeah.
I mean, I get it.
It really is.
And again, if it was a sunnier day, maybe the water would be more blue.
But like my grandma always said, you get what you get and you don't complain.
I think I could agree with that.
Alright, let's go hop in the water.
We're ready.
It's cold.
One more.
Watch out, big one.
Man, the waves are wavy today.
Uh oh.
Maybe not the best place for a swim right now.
They did say it was a moderate risk.
Quick, come out here.
So nice.
Refreshing?
Come here, come here.
You guys have to come here.
Oh yeah, I think once you get out past those little waves right there, it's not so bad.
And it's so peaceful out here.
No loud music.
I mean, there's people, but it's four kilometers, so it's kind of spread out.
And I guess if you want to go down a little farther, you can always get away from the crowd.
I'm so glad we could share this together.
I think one of the cool things is El Nido actually wasn't even a tourist destination until like the mid-1990s.
So all of this is relatively new.
It used to just be a fishing village, but now it's definitely a little bit more than that.
This is a big one.
Good, you jump really good.
Oh, this is story language.
But yeah, the water's nice and cool, and I think it might be a good time to go grab some food.
We don't want to hunger.
We'll just enjoy a little bit.
Oh yeah, of course we'll enjoy a little bit more.
You just don't want to, you know, end up with a hungry Filipina.
They get ravenous.
Very nice.
So apparently there are a bunch of restaurants here,
but they will deliver the food directly to your little cabana, seat, sombrella, whatever you call them.
And it looks delicious.
We got some spicy butter chicken, mango smoothies, some water,
and I have a Filipina with me, so we had to get rice.
So in the Philippines, rice is life.
Don't forget that.
It is.
We want to survive without rice.
Oh, that smells so good.
Barbecue chicken?
She's the expert.
But yeah, it was really nice.
We ordered our food just behind us, and then we took a little walk around.
There's a bunch of massage places where you can get a nice massage on the beach.
They were like $500 for an hour, so that's a pretty fair price.
That's like $8 an hour, I think.
And then there's even a little hotel, if you go down to the end, that you can stay.
So you can be out here and wake up out here and spend all your time out here.
But those waves were pretty wavy.
What did you think out there?
I drank a lot of water.
You did drink a lot of water.
Yeah, it was wavy.
It was waving.
And Anne was saying this is the first time she's ever actually had waves.
Yeah, in my entire life.
And I am living in the Philippines.
Wow.
I mean, it wasn't too bad, and there are some lifeguards a little bit farther down.
But definitely be careful when you come out here.
I'm guessing some days there aren't waves.
But yeah, what a great day.
What a beautiful time to be exploring.
And tiring, too.
But it's also special to be able to share it with a special someone.
And you can definitely do this by yourself.
I've seen some single people walking around.
But I think coming out here with a friend or your girlfriend or just your group of people.
People were playing cards on the beach down there.
And they have a little bar that you can go to and have some drinks.
They're chopping up coconuts, which is nice, too.
And this is a great place to watch the sunset.
So I think we're going to eat our food.
Yeah, we're done.
And then we're going to sit here for a little bit, watch the sunset, maybe get a massage.
Probably.
Probably. You never know.
And we're actually going to be here for the next eight days.
Yes.
So we're going to be doing a lot of other fun things like doing boat tours around the islands.
Checking out more of the beaches.
Cruising around on our motorbike.
And I'm really looking forward to it.
Yeah, I don't know why.
We need to take all those tours.
We definitely do.
We can't wait.
And we can't wait to share it with you.
So if you enjoyed this video, please give me a big thumbs up, comment, subscribe.
And don't forget to...
Am I saying that right?
Ling, ling, ling, ling, ling, ling.
The bell.
El Nido.
We will see you soon.
Have the best day.
And make sure you stay safe when you're out there in the ocean.
