Experiment with enclosing the open back of my Roland JC 120 amplifier. The experiment resulted in tighter focused sound coming out of the front of the amp which is what I wanted.
Hey Gospel Guitars here. Thought I'd share a little adventure I took a couple days ago
with my Roland Jazz Chorus 120 amp which normally has an open back. As most of you know
mine had about a four inch piece of MDF board that went across the back and I had some MDF
board laying around that was the exact thickness to fit in place of that little board but covers
the whole back and I believe I went 14 inches high and 22 inches long and it just fits right
in place and I use the original two screws that come on each side to bolt it in. It tightened up
the sound from the front. I'm used to playing in enclosed cabs you know such as 4x12s and
enclosed 2x12s so I was always wondering if it's the openness of this that sometimes I don't like
when I'm going on distortion and heavy metal tones. So this did tighten all that up so the
sound is all focused and forced to the front of the amplifier. So you can try this too if you've
ever been curious whether you like it or not. It's easily undone just unscrew it and put the original
little board back on. So that's just a little adventure I've been dying to do and I finally
got around to doing it so I thought I'd make a little quick video on it. So keep rocking,
subscribe and let everybody know about me. Thanks for watching.
