The Whistler train wreck in Squamish and the Vancouver to Vancouver Island Crossing Ferry. The Vancouver-Whistler train wreck, was a disaster that killed three people and injured dozens more. The tragedy occurred when the Union Glacier Cariboo Train derailed while descending a curved bridge into an emergency terminal at the Whistler Olympic Park station and skidded off the rails onto a residential cul-de-sac and into a bridge overpass, where it struck two vehicles traveling on footpaths. It's a strange and interesting place
All right what's the problem with these logging roads is look at this this logging truck is just
completely distorting my view.
Done. This is how I try to do my quick footage filming. It's so loud here.
Can't vlog in peace. And there's a really unique thing that I saw online that I said oh
gotta go see this. It's 9am at this campsite. The first one's on the first one's off.
Look at this. All right this is it guys. We are now officially on Vancouver Island.
Look at this.
All right good morning everybody. Yesterday was a very very rainy day. It was so rainy in fact
that we had to get an Airbnb because it was just flooding everywhere and anywhere we would have
camped out would have just been either completely flooded or incredibly water saturated and even
heard about some places being underwater. So did not want to do that. So got a little Airbnb which
is the cheapest Airbnb we have seen in all Canada in the last and the U.S. in the last
like month and it was a hundred U.S. dollars but you know split between two people. Not too terrible
fifty dollars each. Has nice kind of weird covered parking which is cool and I'm gonna give you a
quick tour of this place because it's kind of funky. It's in the basement of this house
and there's some jacuzzi stuff here. There's a kayak. There's a door that we have no idea
where it goes to. It's like a basement thing here and it's pretty funky. There's two beds
which is very nice. If you want to do some laundering stuff here's a laundry room.
There it is. Here's the room I was in and yeah it just it just keeps going and I think that's a
stairway to the very top. It has a living room, dining room area and it has a kitchen.
Last night we actually had pizza which was really great cheap food but yeah this was our whole
our whole thing last night for a hundred bucks so it's pretty funny pretty cute. The goal today
is to try to make it to Whistler so that's about 150-250 miles today. Hopefully it will not rain
on us because the weather's kind of funky so we'll see how it goes. Feeling really good because
we finally had a really good night of sleep. Two giant beds, very quiet, no crazy train noises,
no dogs barking in neighborhoods so it is like the first time in the last few weeks where
really really got good good night rest so I'm really excited about that and that's it that's
going to be our day so we'll see you on the road. I forgot to say that you never truly appreciate
sleep until you haven't slept for about three weeks properly and how a comfortable bed and
how a proper neck pillow it just makes such a big big difference long term. Short term you really
can't feel it but yeah I have come to really appreciate as I get older a good comfortable
bed and living situation sleeping situation every night which is not something I used to do but
wow what a difference when you do sleep it's just night night and day so anyway yeah camping every
night has been rough at 34. All right goodbye funky basement place and the adventure continues.
It's actually a really good deal for 100 bucks but if we had four people that's what it really
starts adding that's where the uh money starts being saved. So I'll spare you the surprise uh
yeah breakfast today is subway again but it is what it is so I'm going to spare you the uh
the same sandwich the same drink the same chips and just this is breakfast that's it let's move
on. All right quick pit stop fun little thing to film for the cinematic video give it about 10
seconds usually 10-15 seconds just in case always shoot in 4k so I can zoom in and done.
This is how I try to do my quick footage filming on the road otherwise it takes forever.
All right I found this really cute little trading post place that had some
antique cars an antique tractor and it made a perfect location for some cinematic filming so
we just did that made some friends and yeah moving on.
So I just did a very quick uh drone thing which was awesome the scenery was absolutely amazing
I saw this road I said yeah definitely got to do it here there's a nice valley
and Grace was actually my stunt double she actually wore my helmet and my jacket
and she drove around and I filmed her as if it was me for the cinematic video
and the reason I do that is number one safety number two driving and flying a drone not
recommended Bolivia a little easier here you got wires and stuff I almost hit a wire
I flew I it was too late to uh to abandon ship basically when I got through close to the wire
so I just said screw it I went straight luckily I didn't clip any of the wire which is really
really lucky it's so loud here I can't vlog in peace terrible I'm vlogging on a stupid GoPro
too so it's the worst so because my bike is so fully and overly loaded because all the camera
gear all my stuff etc etc I actually have to take off all my stuff really so Grace can drive the
bike comfortably otherwise it's just really too heavy um so she did a great job though she looked
really nice driving on the whole thing she's a great she's a great secondary body double good
job Grace body double all right so uh yeah getting everything packed up ready to go and off to Whistler
taking a very quick break off the bike currently here in Whistler British Columbia and there's a
really unique thing that I saw online that I said oh gotta go see this this is really interesting
I'm about to show you how neat and interesting this place is because I've never really heard
anything like it so this is gonna be the trek there I gotta say it's very strange to see just
in the middle of the forest so it's got a weird creepy vibe to it obviously this is graffiti it's
kind of an art installation at this point but yeah it is just a very funky feeling because
you're going like where are the tracks there's no tracks anywhere yeah I don't know how they
were placed here I have no idea how they got here it definitely adds to the allure and the mystery
of this place to the information boards what happened is that there was a train coming
through and they were late and they decided to go twice the speed of the limit and basically
ended up derailing all these carts which then blocked the path for many many days which is very
difficult because uh it was the only way to get goods and services to the areas up here so it was
actually quite a disaster back then 1955 as always the hike back up is the worst so this hike's about
a mile it says taking about you know 10 minutes one way 10 minutes out the other way so not bad
definitely worth it and it's kind of like the same stuff you see but the history and just some
of the shots you can get and some of those nice instagram pictures very very instagrammable is uh
yeah definitely worth it it is 4 30 p.m and it's lunchtime and guess what we're having that's right
you guessed it subway it was either that or the a and w because there was nothing else around here
oh man are you tired of subway yet we are i am honestly it's the healthiest choice and it's the
only real thing and it's the cheapest thing really oh oh well it is what it is uh-huh uh
is that grilled chicken yes please all right welcome to uh 9 a.m at this campsite didn't do
a lot of filming last night because i was pretty tired pretty pooped out just happened to pop up
some tents here eat some food and that was evening and yeah unfortunately at about 7 a.m
today there was this huge thing happening on the side of the road so it just woke everybody up
there was construction there were giant trucks they were just it was just mayhem so sleep was
a bit rough last night as it usually is camping uh well yeah beautiful view beautiful lake
hopefully getting on the road today making it to whistler which we didn't do yesterday
um it's about another 100 miles or so and do some filming get to squamish head over to the
vancouver island is the idea and yeah that is today's plan today feeling kind of a little better
yesterday i had a lot of thinking going on my head with uh with life life and emotional stuff
so today hopefully won't be too distracted by that and uh yeah more focus on just living the
moment and the adventure and that's the thing with driving long distances a lot on motorcycles is
you're in your helmet and you're in your head a lot and that can get kind of scary for some
people especially like me since i tend to overthink a lot of things and your imagination
imagination kind of takes hold so the idea is to kind of keep a lid on that to a point and not let
it drive you crazy otherwise you'll overthink yourself to death so i wouldn't do that anyway
that's just life we all deal with it a little differently i just drive a motorcycle around
the world to get out of my system people drink it some people do drugs some people go hiking
some people do other stuff i just extreme it around the world that's what i do anyway cool on
the road all right goodbye interesting camp spot and your ridiculously horrible mosquito situation
but it was a nice view it's pretty bad but yeah on we go and i cannot express you how hot it is
right now it's insane absolutely insane how hot it is so i'm not gonna go that way because uh
remember how it's really bumpy coming in yeah there's a easier way out this way
oh watch out very slippery there okay all right so this road's nice but the problem is that these
logging trucks are just man they just bust it up all right logging truck all right what's the
problem with these logging roads is look at this this logging truck is just completely distorting
my view and they don't let you get around them and they got giant logs that can fall off at any
moment so yeah it's not a comfortable place to be
all right got past them oh freedom fresh air ah so good all right welcome to 8 p.m we are
currently on the ferry from vancouver to vancouver island currently chit-chatting with people as you
can see it's about a two-hour ferry ride and yeah we've got everything ready to go got dinner and
we're just gonna chill out and um yeah get over across the vancouver island which should be
amazing water cycles is its first come first serve basis so if you don't have any room online on the
forums to go from bc ferries from one place to another you can just show up and there's always
a certain amount of space available so this is the space available we have one two three four
five six seven and ten about 10 13 14 different motorcycle lists and yeah we just showed up we
got a ferry it took us two hours away but here we are about 50 canadian which is quite extreme
but it is canada now when i traveled alaska argentina on the klr 650 i had a
shopping basket strapped at the very back of my my tank box so you know you can carry groceries
you can carry all these things it's amazing so you know this guy with a little cooler is little
there's little things here it's it's great this is what i used to be 10 years ago all right here
yeah we are the first ones on the first ones off that is the benefit of driving a motorcycle
through canada even though this cost us 50 canadian look at this all right this is it guys
the problem with my bike is that it's so overloaded that i cannot leave it like this
which means i'm gonna have to get it on the center stand which is super sorry
super heavy this is gonna be a pain in the ass
there we go center stand that's very good good smart alex all right we do not need
like the handlebars because nobody's gonna steal your bike because you're here
good we got the block on the floor that should be good enough for the ferry
and as always we do a stress test which basically means
how hard can you rock the bike if anything happens check it out look at helmet secure
everything's good handlebars excellent cannot complain just you kick the bike and you just
throw it around like this it doesn't move you're good to go the journey continues two hours later
we are now officially on vancouver island look at this hey guys thanks for doing this for the
video and we'll see you at tomorrow's vlog goodbye bye
