Hello everybody and welcome back to the channel.
Here's some news. I have decided to get my soccer coaching license.
Wait, no, no, no. I mean, I mean my soccer refing license.
So, so I'm going to becoming a soccer ref.
And I mean, that's the goal. And yeah, so that's, that's,
I'll, I'll be keeping you updated on the journey.
Um, I'm just kidding. April Fool's.
The worst April Fool's joke ever.
But I had nothing last minute joke, right?
Yeah, I told Sarah, this video will probably go on April 1st.
Last year, we have done our one and only April Fool's joke ever on our channel.
It's actually pretty funny. It was raiding the refs.
So actually, that's a good, that was a good segue into where your joke came in from.
But it's funny too, because last video, we were talking about the,
the disallowed goal from Chelsea, and you made a comment saying,
I really don't know any of the rules. Or you said something like that.
I should start learning the rules, huh?
Um, so yeah, so that was a fake April Fool's joke.
But this video probably will go on April, go out on April 1st.
But how's it going, everyone?
Yeah, timestamps down below.
But we're going to talk about something that is going on at Chelsea.
I mean, is Chelsea going to be a whole new team next year?
It looks to be that way.
Because there's a lot going on.
Also, a couple of the Chelsea players, you know, what's going on?
Are they going to be long distance with their loves?
Are they, is a new, something new happening in their life?
Because I don't even think I told Sarah what we're going to talk about and show her the video,
because I, it's going to be a surprise.
I'm new here.
But yeah, so first up, big movement over at Chelsea.
Article just came out, uh, talking about, I'll have Sarah read the headline.
Sam Kerr, Millie Bright expected to leave Chelsea as uncertainty grows at WSL Giants.
Striker Sam Kerr is expected to depart Chelsea with,
when her contract expires at the end of the season.
While captain Millie Bright also wants to leave.
Both are out of the contract at the end of the season.
Chelsea offered Bright a new deal, but the 32 year old,
who is the club's longest continuously serving player,
prefers an exit according to multiple sources briefed on the matter,
who like all referenced in this article, spoke anonymously to protect relationships.
Bright's one-year extension signed in March, 2025,
does contain the option of an extra 12 months.
Okay. So we're going to talk about Sam Kerr in a second,
but it looks like Millie Bright, if she wants out, then if you want out, you want out.
Sam Kerr, obviously, um, her contract is out.
A few other players.
Starting off, we've already seen the team.
We've already seen the team change.
We saw Guru leave for Gotham a few weeks ago.
I thought she'd be playing already, but she hasn't.
Every single game, I was like, is Guru here?
She hasn't been here, but we're.
So get on that Guru.
And then, um, this was just announced a few days ago,
but it had been in the talks and it had been rumored,
but Kat Macario officially has left Chelsea
and has signed with her hometown team, San Diego Wave.
I'll have Sarah read the headline on this one.
U.S. star Katarina Macario departs Chelsea for a record $8 million
five-year deal with San Diego Wave.
26-year-old is set to join NWSL's side immediately.
Forward has 16 goals in 29 appearances for the U.S. women's national team.
U.S. international forward Katarina Macario has joined the San Diego Wave
on a deal worth $8 million that runs through the 2030 season.
The contract is reportedly the largest by total value in women's soccer history.
The Wave announced the move Friday.
Sportico first reported that the Wave were nearing the acquisition last week.
ESPN reported that Macario would join the NWSL side immediately
rather than in the summer on a transfer fee of about $300,000.
Macario's contract with Chelsea was set to expire at the end of the WSL season.
San Diego will use NWSL's high-impact player rule to pay Macario.
Yeah, so she's officially going to San Diego Wave.
It's her hometown.
Well, she was born in Brazil and I believe she moved there when she was 12.
It actually was really sweet on her video.
San Diego Wave has been doing a lot of press and then a lot,
you know, obviously promoting Kat because that's their new...
Because she's Kat.
There was one really sweet video of Kat being shown like a news piece about when she,
you know, everyone knew about Kat Macario for a long, long time.
And her dad was talking about her journey so far and Kat started crying
because she's like, I hadn't seen that in so long.
So very emotional.
Yeah, sounds beautiful.
Yeah, really beautiful.
And Kat, obviously she spent her whole entire professional career in Europe.
So it's nice to come home, you know.
But as we know, she has...
People have been calling it a loose launch.
A loose launch with her Chelsea teammate Niamh Charles.
And a lot of people are saying, well, what about Niamh, you know?
Is Niamh one of the...
Well, two things.
Are they going to do long distance?
You know, long distance, I think has split up a lot of people.
Not just in soccer, but in the world, not just soccer.
It's really hard to be long distance, especially another continent.
But are they going to do long distance?
Because although they're pretty low key, they seem very...
Are they going to do long distance?
Because it's hard.
We've seen a lot of couples break up because of long distance.
Yeah, distance is very hard on a couple.
Even the strongest couples could have issues.
But I mean, people make it work too.
Exactly, exactly.
But the other question is, wait, maybe Niamh is actually going to come over to the end of USL.
So people are saying, wait, is Niamh one of the players that is going...
I saw this.
There's another article that's out, but I'll have Sarah read this.
Might be a bit more Chelsea related, but just read the Catherine Bat.
I think that's how you say it.
I'm so sorry if it's not.
She's a very famous writer, but I've never heard her name pronounced.
But maybe I'll look into that.
She mentioned that more departures besides Sam and Millie are expected,
but it didn't sound like too many more, maybe four or five departures all up.
She said Sonia highly regards Lucy and would be wise for both parties to extend her contract
with the World Cup next year.
Aggie and Hannah working on new contracts.
Everyone else seems to have locked down their positions in the team.
The obvious being Spencer moving on to get some playing time.
Who else could it be other than Niamh and Seo?
Yes.
So in that article, I went to go read it, but it's behind a paywall.
I probably can find a copy, but I didn't find a copy before this video.
But yeah, it says right there, four or five players are expected to go.
And this person right here thinks Niamh might be one of those players who is going to be
leaving.
Now, Niamh has been injured and there is...
I was actually going to do a different video on this, but maybe I'll just bring it up here.
Sonia Bompastor seems to have her favorite players.
And she doesn't seem to, I don't know, rate other players because people noticed in Kat's
goodbye and in Guru's goodbye and other things, they didn't mention Sonia Bompastor.
It was all either Emma or the teammates.
And so people think a lot of players actually have an issue with Sonia Bompastor, which
is also interesting because Kat played under Sonia Bompastor in France.
So maybe Niamh doesn't get on with Sonia as much because she doesn't play her.
She doesn't regard her as higher as other players.
That's kind of an aside.
However, the question is, is Niamh leaving?
Now, is Niamh leaving going to another WSL team?
Is she going to the Bundesliga?
Or could she be going to the NWSL with Kat?
You know, Guru's already gone there.
Sam Kerr might go there.
Is Niamh on her way?
Because it has just been revealed that Niamh actually started following San Diego Wave
on Instagram.
What if they both went to Wave?
Because a lot of people think, well, if they're together, of course, it makes sense for Niamh
to follow San Diego Wave.
But sometimes you just don't because you don't, since they're very low key, you don't want
the optics.
But some people are thinking, well, maybe she's following because she's in talks with
them, you know, and that makes a lot of sense.
Also, if it's not San Diego Wave, there's four teams on the West Coast.
Now, I don't know if those other teams have like international spots.
I don't know if those would be the correct fit, so on and so forth.
But Wave, Angel City, Bay of Sea, Portland Thorns, Reign, all within an hour plane ride
to San Diego, a couple hours.
Is Niamh possibly going to not only San Diego, somewhere on the West Coast?
I don't know.
We don't know.
I saw this picture.
This is of Niamh.
And actually, apparently Kat maybe deleted this picture.
But it's Niamh in a Surf Cup 2025 San Diego shirt.
She posted it.
Apparently, it's kind of controversial because apparently Kat deleted it.
But it might have been for a lot of different reasons.
But, you know, they look very much together.
And that's the other question.
Some people are like, who knows if they're even together because they're so low key.
I didn't see Niamh congratulate Kat on the move to San Diego, like on her socials.
But I didn't see this personally.
But I read, I guess her mom or her dad, someone from Niamh's family did.
I didn't see the comment.
I will try to find it.
But good sources say that they did.
That someone from Niamh's family congratulated Kat on the big move.
So that leads me to believe they're definitely still together if Niamh's family is congratulating
Kat.
You know, maybe some people say that doesn't necessarily mean they're still together or
together.
But I think it's pretty clear they still are.
Interesting.
Yeah.
Hey, it's Sarah.
I'm just editing.
But a couple of things happened after Sarah and I recorded the video that I wanted to
talk about before we get into part two of the video when we talk about Sam Kerr.
Because we had talked about, kind of talked about the idea of Niamh and Kat.
You know, are they still together?
Are they not together?
They're, they're pretty low key.
Niamh actually just posted a photo dump on her Instagram and there's 13 pics.
And Kat is in three of them.
Now, you know, they're there with other teammates and they're not couple-y necessarily.
But I don't know, there's one on the beach with the four of them.
You know, Niamh and Kat do look pretty couple-y.
But she actually looks more couple-y with Aggie Beaver Jones than she does with Kat.
Well, kind of.
But that's a cute picture.
Then also, a few people pointed this out, the very first picture where Niamh is,
Niamh is eating ice cream or an acai bowl actually looks like.
There, she's holding a spoon.
And in the reflection, you can kind of make out that it looks like Kat.
It looks like Kat in that spoon.
Now, that might go into interpretation.
Maybe we're seeing things we want to see.
But it does look like Kat a little bit.
So is that a date?
It looks like in California, it looks like a palm tree behind them.
Or maybe Portugal or something.
Okay.
So, you know, I think they're definitely gathering cute, cute photos.
So yes, super cute.
Also, we had talked about it.
Is she going to go?
Is, you know, is Niamh leaving?
Is she going to stay in the WSL?
Is she going to go to Germany?
Is she going to go to the NWSL?
Apparently, reports are that Real Madrid might really want Niamh.
There is a rumor that Real Madrid are looking to sign, looking to sign a left back
to strengthen their squad for the next season.
Among the options they are considering are Niamh Charles and a couple other people.
But what about that?
What about Niamh going to Spain and staying in Europe, but going to Spain?
Real Madrid.
A lot of people say they have such great players, but something like they don't play in the
main stadium, something like that.
But I do see a lot of people saying, wait a second, they don't know about this one.
And a lot of people, again, are talking about what's happening at Stamford Bridge.
So a lot of people are saying what's happening at Chelsea.
But what about Real Madrid?
That would be interesting seeing a lot of people saying Niamh is not for sale.
Niamh is not for sale.
Charles, please stay.
Nonsense.
So a lot of people are not, would not want her to go to Spain, I guess.
But it should be interesting.
So I wanted to touch on those two things before we go on to the next part.
But what do you think?
NWSL or Spain?
Real Madrid?
That would be exciting.
And staying in Europe too would probably be nice.
OK, I'm going to go into what we talked about.
So excited for them.
We'll see what happens.
We'll see if Niamh ends up going to NWSL.
We'll see what happens to Chelsea next year.
You know, it's going to be an all-new team.
Are they going to get Bunny Shaw?
You know, I even heard Myra Maris might be leaving even though she was injured.
Some other club has interest in her.
So are they just going to wipe the club clean?
We don't know.
We will see.
But another person who commented on Kat's departure about leaving was one of her old
teammates at this point now.
But look, I'm going to have Sarah read this and tell me what you think about this, Sarah.
OK, so Sam Kerr comments, locker is empty next to me.
Going to miss you.
Good luck.
See you soon, I'm sure.
Oh, she's a sure.
Yes.
I mean, is that a coded language for saying, you know, I'll see you soon, soon, soon, soon?
Does that mean she is going to the NWSL?
Because that's what everyone thinks.
We know she's more than likely leaving by the reports.
And so the question is, you know, would she go to another WSL club?
Would she go to Germany?
Would she go to Spain?
Would she even go back to Australia?
Even though that league's a lower level league, some might say.
Or would she go to her old stomping ground, the NWSL?
Oh, Red Stars.
We need her back.
OK, we're going to get into that because there's a reason why we don't think she would
go back to the Red Stars.
But let's go through this.
Or Chicago Stars, as they're called now.
I guess so.
I haven't.
I have not adopted that.
I don't like that as much.
I don't think most people do.
But yeah, the stars.
But let's think about this.
Where would she go in the NWSL?
Obviously, whoever would offer her a good deal, enough money.
One of the first thoughts is, oh, I'm sorry, I know where she's going.
Gotham.
OK, she's freaking going to Gotham.
OK, OK.
She's following Guru.
OK.
And Christy is a New York girl.
I'm sorry, it's happening.
OK, that is one of the thoughts.
Is she going to Gotham?
Christy won a championship with Gotham.
Oh, yeah.
And I forgot the fact that she played for them, too.
Guru recently just joined Gotham.
Guru also has a baby, a little bit older, a little bit younger than Jagger.
But their kids could grow up next to each other.
If she doesn't go to Gotham, then I'm done watching soccer forever.
No, no, no.
There's some other places she could go.
So Gotham.
And then on Kelly O'Hara's podcast, they were talking about where she could go.
And I think Kelly ended up saying, maybe I'll play the clip.
Get her back to Gotham.
That's where we want her.
We want her at Gotham.
There's a lot of reasons why Gotham makes a lot of sense.
I don't know geography well enough if it's closer to be in L.A.
to Australia or New York to Australia.
I'm actually not quite sure about that one.
OK, Gotham, number one.
Number two, you know, see you soon.
What does that mean?
Does that mean see you soon in San Diego?
See you soon in L.A. at Angel City?
Because Sam Kerr also has a famous quote from a couple of years ago.
She was on Sammy Banana's podcast and said, if I'm going to come back to the NWSL,
I want sun, I want sand, I want the beach.
That's what she said.
She goes, I want sun and sand.
You know, they have a beach in the East Coast, but it's not like a California beach or Florida beach.
So is it Angel City?
I could see that, too.
Or San Diego, because she said, I'll see you soon.
I could also see that.
OK, now those are three options.
Hello, everyone.
I'm just recording this after Sarah and I originally recorded our video,
but news came out that there might be another team in the mix.
An Australian news report reported that not only was Sam Kerr approached by Denver Summit
or the Denver Summit wanted Sam Kerr, but this news report has explicitly said she's
she has signed with Denver Summit and that's where she will be going next season,
which was kind of shocking because it kind of came out of nowhere.
Also, because we had just talked about Sam didn't want to be in the middle of the country.
She wanted sun.
She wanted sand.
But Sam Kerr also came out and said on her Snapchat, don't believe everything you read.
Someone asked Sam on her Snapchat.
They said, Sammy, is it true that you're leaving Chelsea to go to Denver Summit?
And then Sam Kerr responded.
She goes, don't believe everything you read in the media.
They know the decision before me.
So I don't know if this like this is a specifically Australian news station.
If they got like Intel before other people, if they heard from somebody on the deal that,
yeah, she's going to sign here or is this like a bargaining chip?
You know, does Sam want a lot of money from somewhere else?
So they're going to see how everyone wants her.
So like a bargaining chip.
Also, this came out like right after April Fool's, maybe April 2nd, I'm seeing.
So maybe this was like a delayed April Fool's joke, because I remember I saw,
you know, if you have April Fool's joke like Leah Williamson leaving Arsenal, things like that.
So I don't know if this is a April Fool's joke, but could she end up in Denver?
Maybe it's on the table.
She hasn't decided.
And if they're offering her a good deal, she would go.
But it was it was reported as though, yes, she is 100% going now.
She still might go, but it doesn't seem like it's official.
But this news station seemed to think it was 100% official.
What do you think?
Do you think she's going to Denver?
She at this point, she could go anywhere.
OK, go back to the video.
But yeah, I think everyone saw that report about Denver Summit,
which would be actually pretty cool.
Her playing with Lindsay Heaps, too.
That would actually be pretty cool.
Interview, she also said she didn't want to be in the middle of the country.
So she wanted Sun San.
So it didn't sound like she wanted Chicago again.
Chicago's not a great team right now, but with her, they would be a better team.
But where is the other logical thought?
Where's the other logical choice?
It makes sense.
I mean, I think most people who heard that she was possibly going back to the NWS
thought that the place that made the absolute most sense was actually drumroll.
Boston Legacy.
Oh, yeah.
Ever since that team was announced, a lot of people thought, well, you know,
obviously Sam Mewis and Christy Mewis are famously from Boston.
They don't play anymore.
I mean, 99% Christy doesn't play, even though I don't know if she's formally retired.
But that's another story.
But everyone else said, well, Christy's connection to Sam, Sam Kerr,
that would make so much sense for Sam to go to Boston to play in Christy's hometown.
And it checks a couple of the boxes, I would think, where she would want to play.
How does that not make sense for her to go to the Boston Legacy,
starting a new brand new franchise?
You know, a marquee signing, one of the biggest signings in the world.
I mean, that would be amazing.
I still like Ockham better, but this is okay.
This is acceptable.
So people are saying Boston makes the most sense for that reason.
I did read, I'm right here on Mewis family, do your thing.
And then someone says, do we have an international spot left?
And then someone said, not at the moment, but they're not terribly expensive to acquire.
So is that is that something that would prevent her from going not having international spot?
Also, I know that some people say in regards to money, you could pay Sam Kerr,
how much could you pay her because of salary cap and whatnot.
And as we heard, Kat Macario is going to be the high impact player.
Well, wouldn't Sam Kerr qualify for high impact player?
And apparently she would not.
So she would not actually qualify partially, I think, because she had been injured so long.
So some of those things that you would be,
how you would qualify, she hasn't been playing much.
It would not work for her to be part of that high impact role.
And then someone says, I think she would want to join a more developed team
that is in playoff contention.
Now, I kind of think that, but I also think you're brand new.
You're going to start the team.
You can do whatever you want with the team.
You know what I mean by that?
You could make the team great.
And then someone goes, yeah, they need a striker.
And then also says right here, Gotham is clear out of international spots.
So they've got the upper hand.
And then someone goes, Angel City is a possibility too.
Now, this is the part I don't think I showed you.
So you think, well, where would they want to go?
Boston makes a lot of sense.
One of the big reasons they'd want to be in Boston,
because I'm sure Christy wants her parents to be around Jagger as much as possible.
You know, and Boston's right there.
And the Mewis parents are right there.
Sam Mewis is right there as well.
I think she lives in Vermont.
So right there, because I'll play the video too,
I'll show you what is another reason they might want to be close to family.
I'll show Sarah this, and I'll play this for you.
One, two, three.
We need to give him a sibling.
What's that?
Sibling?
Okay.
Yeah, so if they're thinking about having a sibling in the near future,
or even in a year, they want to be around Christy's parents.
I mean, yes, you would want to be, because if you think about it this way,
you can't be, they're not going to be in Perth with Sam's family,
because they're not, she's not going to play in Australia's league.
So if it's, if it's going to be around family,
why not go to Boston to be around, to be around Christy's family.
And if they're looking to have another baby, it makes perfect sense.
Now, the logistics and payment and international spots, all that play into it.
But if Sam wants to play in Boston, I'm sure they can make it happen.
If Sam wants them and Boston wants them, you get what I'm saying?
Yeah, and exciting that they're gonna have another baby.
They're looking to have a sibling sometime soon.
But, um, but yeah, and then I also see some comments here,
and we're just going to read through them.
She's coming to Portland.
She said she'd come back to NWSL for the sun and the beach.
She's going to be an angel, Allie.
Yeah, because Allie, Allie Riley and Kelly O'Hara were talking about it.
And Allie's like, hey, we'll take her.
We want her, you know, who wouldn't?
And then someone says Gotham needs her.
Kerr to Boston.
Sam Kerr to Boston.
Okay, Sam Kerr to Boston to be by Christie's family.
Sam Kerr to Boston.
And someone goes, and so the Chelsea downfall begins.
Um, this is gonna be interesting, you know.
And oh, and then going back to Kat.
I'm just reading some of the comments I screenshotted.
Screenshot, um, home sweet home.
And then is there any good news coming from Chelsea?
LOL.
Good luck, Kat.
I wonder if she was really injured or was that fake?
She hasn't played in months.
Yeah.
And a lot of people think it was something that had to do with Sonya Bompastor.
I guess we will never know.
Someone goes to Boston.
Legacy to Boston.
Legacy, of course.
Yeah, that just makes the most sense.
Um, and also I see a comment here.
It says, oh, it's clear the WSL clear out in 2026.
Likely moves from Katie McCabe.
Beth Mead.
Guru Reitan.
Now Kern Bright.
So yeah, a lot of movement.
I did see the funniest TikTok video.
It was Arsenal loses, uh, Katie McCabe.
Who are they going to have to recruit players or something like that?
Did you see that one?
I didn't even send that one to her.
I did not see that.
And then it was her, um, you know, enemies on the field with Chloe Kelly.
Her interview with Chloe Kelly.
I forget who the other players are, but it was so funny.
That is funny because she famously, you know, the pipeline of NMEDA teammates for Katie.
Yeah.
Three so far from the, from the video.
But what does everyone think?
I mean, is, is Sam Kerr going to Boston?
I think it would be great.
Now I don't think Christie's playing anymore because also if she's going to get pregnant
in the next year, obviously she's not going to play.
But how cute would it be if they signed Christie to like a one-year contract and Sam Kerr like
a three-year contract.
Christie plays one more year and then Sam Kerr.
You know what I mean?
That'd be so cute.
Yeah.
I love it.
Now I don't think Christie's playing, but she might shock us all.
When they announced her pregnancy, that shocked everyone.
So maybe Christie's going to shock us and be signed there for like, you know, a year.
Yeah, we'll see.
Yeah.
And then also Kat and Nev, um, we'll see, you know, they're so low key.
We just don't know.
And I think with Kat and Nev also, I think if they're not playing on the same team, honestly,
say Nev goes to like Portland or I'm just saying, I don't even know in regards to international
spots and all those things, but say Nev went to Portland, but they're on the same coast.
Would they be more open and not so low key?
Because I think part of the reasons they were so low key because they were on the same team.
So we'll see what happens there.
But, um, you know, excited for Kat to be in our hometown.
Yeah, we love it.
Yeah.
Questions, comments down below.
What does everyone think?
Questions, comments down below.
We'll talk to everyone later.
Have a great night.
Bye.
