Hello everyone, welcome back. I am headed into a thrift store
that I haven't been to in months. I think it's been four months since I was here last, so
I was hoping to see a lot of good stuff to share with y'all. They had five of these
false graph cups here for five dollars each, which is a little too much in my opinion, but
then nearby I saw they had an entire set of this pattern for
120 dollars, so I'm not sure why the cups didn't make the cut.
I'm not sure what this is, but I really liked it. I like the design.
I'm gonna take a guess and say it's the whole bread.
Every time I go into a thrift store, I hope to find baskets like these. I've never gotten
lucky enough to find one, but I have hope that one day I will. I just love how they
look stacked like they have them in this photo.
I loved this teapot. I thought it had a really interesting shape. The bottom said
made in England, so I think it had some age to it, and also green tags were 75% off today.
I forgot to say that in the beginning, and I realized that that color had been on sale
for two weeks at this point, so that's probably why I wasn't finding many green tags.
I did manage to find a few vintage silverware pieces that didn't get put over in their vintage
section. Over there, they would be like a minimum of eight dollars.
I've been trying to collect as many seashells as I can out at the thrift stores,
just because I liked using them in my summer decorating last year, but I didn't realize
how expensive even thrift stores charge for seashells, so I was happy to see a whole bag
for four dollars. I have been keeping my eye out for nice frames with mats that I can maybe
add like a patterned floral fabric over, so I was looking at some of these frames for
that reason. I really like these dark wood kind of wavy frames, but I would like to do
some like I mentioned for spring or maybe summer. It's not really showing up well on
camera, but this was I think a watercolor print, and it had the most beautiful soft colors.
Okay y'all, I stood in front of this vintage cabinet for a good minute contemplating if I
wanted to bring it home and replace it with the cabinet I have in the living room. I loved the
details. It was in great condition, but I ended up deciding not to because the shelves didn't move.
I like that the one I have here at home, it has like adjustable shelves, and I'm always moving
them up and down to fit different decor. Oh, and that one was also $300, so there's another reason.
I'm gonna take a very quick look at their vintage section. It's crazy that I haven't been here in
four months, and I'm seeing so much of the same stuff on the shelves, so I really wonder why they
don't adjust their prices. I was drawn to this little box probably because I just love all types
of boxes. Y'all, I love wood boxes, hat boxes, old beat-up boxes. Okay, we're about done thrifting, but
stay tuned to see a DIY I did using something that I found here today, and also how I styled my haul.
All right y'all, you saw just now my little haul shot. I just brought home a few things.
I laid out all my little seashells. I didn't really realize how many were in that bag for four
dollars, but I wanted to show you. There were some painted green ones. They were painted this like
jade green. Then I thought, wait a minute, what if I put them down here on the shelf in the half bath
where I have like old bottles and soaps, and I call it like an apothecary shelf, and it's painted
kind of like a darker green, so I thought maybe these little seashells could add a nice pop of
color on each shelf, and I actually ended up liking that a lot, so I wanted to share that with y'all,
and then the rest of the seashells I will stash away for the summertime, and then I also went
ahead and put the serving utensil with my others in my curved cabinet, which ended up only being
50 cents, so I was pleasantly surprised about that. All right, let's talk about the DIY that I did
using these scotch shades that I found there. These were two dollars each, and if you don't know,
pleated lampshades or any sort of lampshade with fabric or a floral design is so expensive.
Like, why are they $200 for a lampshade? That's insane. So I wanted to try to DIY my own, and I
had planned to do matching ones, but I ended up just doing one. Let me show you. I didn't film a DIY
because A, I didn't know what I was doing, and B, y'all, it's not good. It doesn't really look good,
maybe from afar, but to me, it just looks like printed toilet paper is on here, and I don't
really love that. That's not to say I won't use it. If I can find a little spot for a little faux
lamp like I envisioned it, then I might use it in the springtime, but it's just, this is not for me.
I think I'll stick to doing the DIY fabric pleated lampshades. I've made a few of those, and they
always turn out cute, so decoupaging just might not be for me, but I set up a little vignette
back here on this side table just so I could show you how I pictured it. So let's go over there. I'm
going to show you a few different things that I gathered from around the house that you can use
as a base for these to make them look like little fake lamps. Alright, I added like springy things
over here because I am so ready for color. I'm sick of all this moody stuff, but anyways, this is
what I normally use to do that faux lamp look with these little sconces. This is just a wood
candlestick holder, and you know, it's not bad. I'm used to the shorter, squattier shades, and I think
I like that shape a little better than this long version, but anyways, this is how I pictured it,
and you know, it might not look the best with these items right now, but I was looking around
the house trying to find some things that might suit it better, and honestly, I wish that something
like, I had something like this, because how good would that look? The colors go together, and the
shape just kind of balances it out, but anyways, I wanted to show you some other things that I
grabbed from my decor stash that you could probably use to make these little fake lamps.
Now, because this is so long, none of these proportions really work, but I love the look of
this little oil lamp base as a fake lamp. Now, if I actually tried to use it, that looks awful. It's
not right at all. It would need to be, like, up here, but that would be so cute. I grabbed a brass
candlestick, which could work. This isn't bad. I think it's nice and petite, but again, I don't
love it with this long of a shade, and then the last thing I could find was this bud vase,
and the proportions are still off, but this can give you an idea to maybe just go around your
house and gather items and try it out with different things, or next time you're thrifting,
if you see a little scant shade that you like, bring it home and try it out with some different
things. Again, it would look the best with this little vase under it. How cute would that be?
But I just bought this, so I'm not going to ruin it. All right, y'all, that's going to wrap up
today's video. It was a bit of a quicker one, but I hope you enjoyed thrifting with me. If you did,
please give it a thumbs up, leave me a comment, let me know that you were here, and I will talk
to you in my next video. Bye!
