Happy Huskies and a Small Mishap . . . .

Good wonderful beautiful morning Pawdience! Shelby, are you ready? Shelby's got her harness on. All the other dogs got their harnesses on. Oakley's got her harness on. We're getting ready to take the dogs out hiking. And from the looks of it, I think it's gonna be a beautiful day. Here we go. Okay, let's go. Maybe we'll find a trail to take the sled out on too. So, I think they're excited. They're all kind of already... They know what's happening. It's like you guys have been here before. We loaded them all up, got ready and our first stop today is gonna be Munising Falls. And look at... I wasn't kidding. It's like super sunny outside. Hopefully, this will be nice and pretty. So, we made it to Munising Falls. I don't hear it. I don't either. I hear the river. I hear the river, but I don't... I don't hear the waterfall. I mean, normally right here we're hearing loud whoosh. This trail is so packed. You can only see two rungs of the... Of the fencing. There should be three. Look at how much snow they have compared to us. Uh-oh. We gotta go up there. I don't think we can. I don't... I can. Yeah. I don't think I can. Memphis and I will. Memphis is like, we'll do it. Not yet. We want to go see the waterfall first. Yeah. We're gonna see the waterfall first. Wow. How is it that we've been here before and it still looks amazing every time? That is crazy. Every time. It still blows my mind. Alright Memphis. I think you and I are gonna go up there to get a couple photos. What do you think? You girls want to wait down here? Sure you don't want to try to climb up the icy hill? No? Alright. We're gonna go for it. So Memphis and I climbed up to the top. To get a little bit better of a view. And holy man. You know, I've seen this thing so many times. But every time. It's just outstanding. See the big crack in the top of it? There's a waterfall. Inside there. Inside all that ice. There's a waterfall. Crazy stuff. That is just unreal. So crazy. You can hear... Let's see how icy it is right here. Memphis is like, let's keep going. No, I know better. We gotta go back to daddy and the girls. We might have to come back later when the sun is more over there. Cause right now, there's not a whole lot of sun. There's the valley. We can go up over there as well. But those steps are much harder. Now comes the fun part. Of actually going back this way and sledding down the steps. Cause the only way to get back down these steps is to sit down and slide. Only safe way to make it down... Is to slide. Go Memphis go! This is a bad idea! No, I stopped myself. It looked like you were trying to stop. Well, I knew if I could get kind of like on one of the edge of these... That I could slow down. And when she started running, I'm like, this is a bad idea. Yeah, that corner that you're at has been hard. Yeah, that's what I said. I'm like, I'll just kick this. So I kicked the edge of the thing. To slow down. Was that fun Memphis? We had to get the real speed. Yeah, that was a little intense. Much faster than the times I've gone down in the past. Hey, what are you doing? Now you're all tangled. Hold on. Okay, we're going to keep going. You get moving pretty quick. I got puppy. Oh, you got her hooked to you. Oh, I do. That's why it was a bad idea. Hi. Can I hand up? Yeah, here we go. Hey, the camera. Oops, got the cord. That was... Yeah, here. Not a good idea. I'm on your foot. There's snow down my back. Right? Sledding down the waterfalls. Oh yeah, you did get some snow on the camera there. I did, yeah. It's a very dark footage. Yeah. That was exhilarating. Yeah. I'll wake you up. Every day in the morning. Sledding down some steps. Yep, there's the... I did save you guys though. I don't know if you can tell. A little. That's fine. That's where I... Oh yeah, a little bit. When I started to turn, the front of the camera was gonna hit the snow. So I just turned my... I saved the camera. Gotta save the camera. Yeah, gotta clean off the lens. I see some stuff down here. Do it for the vlog. Yep. Alright. Onward we go. We might come back here later. Yeah, I think the sun's supposed to get up over the hill there. Maybe it'll light this area up. So maybe we'll sneak back in here. Yeah, it'll be pretty. So we made it back to the parking lot at Munising Falls. And there's a bathroom. But what I wanna show you is not the bathroom. Cause that's not exciting. Look at how deep the snow is on the roof. And on top of that, look at the ice at the bottom of the snow that's on the roof. That's crazy. Even on that side there. They have so much more snow than we do. And they're walking on ice. Yeah, they're walking on ice. Yeah, we found the ice. We definitely found some ice. Alright, we're ready to get back in the car. We don't know where we're going next. We're just kinda... We don't really have any plans. We're gonna mosey around and see stuff. The plan is to untangle Memphis who decided to not only tangle her leash around her front leg but around her back leg. She's like, I'm gonna fix it on my own. Hey, hey. That is not how we fix it. Hold your ponies. Look at how she's got it tangled. Yes. You silly thing. So way over there are the Grand Island Ice Caves. I'll try to remember to insert a link to the time Jamie and I actually walked across the bay here to go see these ice caves. The lake this year is closed. Well, it's pretty much walk at your own risk. They've deemed it to be not safe. But Jamie and I actually walked all the way over there to those ice caves. It was a couple years ago now. They're so cool. So crazy cool. We had to at least stop and take some pictures. So apparently you can cross at your own risk. There are places where you can get across. But this is their warning. It says lake ice warning. Beware of thin ice and hidden open water. Normally if you really shouldn't go, I mean if you... That's pretty much saying don't go anyway. But this one says trail closed for repairs. Hazardous trail beyond this point. I actually think that it still means that the trail over here is closed. There's pictured rocks over there. That's Lake Superior. And then that's Grand Island over there. And the Grand Island Ice Caves. Oh, and the lighthouse. I forgot the lighthouse was over there. I forgot I could see it from here. So we went to Munising Falls and we went to Sand Point. And Jamie's dad and his stepmom are actually coming to town. They don't live very far from here. So we might go and do some hikes with them as well. They're on their way right now. So we're going to check out some of the parking areas for some of the other falls that we've been to in the past. One of them is Wagner Falls. Oh yeah, we totally park here. They're parked there. Yep. Just as long as there's not a million people, we'll be good. Because there's a waterfall back there. So we can park right over there where that guy is. This is a very pretty road as well. There's the river that goes to that waterfall. I don't know if we can see it at all because of the snow. But it really is down there, trust me. Really? We did like two hikes and you're done? We came back to the hotel because Jamie's dad and stepmom are meeting us here. But Shelby's like, I'm done. Oh, you're not done. She's like, I'm not done. I was just napping. I know, it's so nice out, huh? It's so nice out. It is, it's super nice. Oakley's chilling. We're all just chilling. Taking a break. The nice thing about being here this week is we can pretty much come back here whenever we want to. Which makes it nice. So, on to part two of our... This area loses their snow pretty much about the same time because of the odd winds that come through the area. It just happens to melt this area. Even though it's a hundred miles further north or whatever, it's still... They definitely still have a lot of snow coming up. A lot. And it looks really cool and it's really pretty. Look at the roofs over there, they're all white. Yeah, it's so crazy looking. There's the big hill going into Munising. So, we're gonna head back into Munising. So, this is where Jamie and I just enjoyed our lunch. Sitting here in front of Munising Bay. It's so pretty. Like, I love like all the hills. And then, there's the bay. Pictured Rocks is way out there. That's Grand Island over there. Where we saw the ice caves from Sand Point. Sand Point's right out there. That's where we were earlier. Now, we're kind of just enjoying the bay. I think we're gonna go hike to Wagner Falls and then... I don't know. If you drive around that way, there's some scenic lookouts. So, we might go that way as well. Check out the lookouts. Look, we could run the dog sled right there out onto the lake. No, thank you. Nope, that's okay. Quite alright. So, we are currently hiking back to Wagner Falls. Memphis is not a happy camper cause she's in the back. She's like, guys... Yeah, you actually can. This is a nice short trail. I was gonna say, Shelby, you might not want to walk too far that way. You might... You might sink. Yeah, you can definitely hear the river. This is so pretty. It's just so nice to get out here and... Just be outside. We could go up that way. That doesn't sound like a good plan. There's a bench almost covered in snow. I think, there's a bridge up here that's probably almost covered. There's a bench completely covered in snow. Be careful! Pull Memphis, pull! Go Memphis, go! We did it! Slippery right here. Watch where we're going. Oh, we did it! We made it! Wow, it's loud. Yeah, it is. It's still so cool. We've never really seen this one fully frozen. It pretty much always looks like this. Cause there's so much power in that water. That's so cool. We did this earlier and it didn't work out that great. It's a smaller hill, but that doesn't mean she's not gonna go fast. But I'm trying to drag my feet this time. So she doesn't kill us. Don't kill us. Thanks. Thanks for not killing us. It doesn't look that bad to walk up and down on camera, but trust me, it is. It really is. So cool looking. So pretty. Alright, we're going. We're going. Shelby, what are you doing? Is there something up there? What's up there? What's up there, Shelby? Guys, guys, guys. There's something here. You don't even know. Yep, we're going. We have to keep moving cause it's slippery. We don't wanna fall. So that was Wagner Falls. It was a short little hike. We kinda just went back there. And now we're gonna kinda do what we said. We're gonna drive back through Munising this way. And maybe go to a few of the lookouts and see what we can see. The sun's still out and it's nice and clear. I think that's kinda the plan. Memphis is like... I'm just staring out the window. Everybody else... You're down. You guys are like, okay. We're good. We're relaxed. We're chill. We'll do whatever. You guys are so good. So we came to Autrane Falls. Which is kind of... It used to be a bigger waterfall. But now there's a dam that blocks it off. And we've never been here in the winter time. There's actually like a trickly waterfall. That's underneath that pipe and under all that snow over there. Yeah. And I see footprints that look like they walked right across the middle of the field. It's so crazy. But there is... I mean, in the summertime you can't even walk there. Because of the algae on the rocks and the water that flows over it. So... This is the hydroelectric project. We're gonna drive a little bit further and see if anything else looks cool. But I think this one might be a bust for winter. Okay, so... We... Watch out! I know, I thought the same thing. This would have been terrifying. No! Sorry, the camera is so shaky guys. Yeah, it's a little slippery but not too bad. But... I... I think we have... Oh gosh! I think we have been here in the winter. Maybe. Alright, hold on a second Memphis. Hold on a second Memphis. Hold on a second. Can I talk to the camera for a second? She's like, no! Anyway... So we made it! So this is where we came. This isn't frozen at all. This is not frozen at all. We're on this cool bridge you can kind of see through. But yeah... This is Autrane Falls. So normally it's a lot bigger but like we said, there's actually a dam at the top that restricts all the water flow that comes down here. So this is all you get. Still really cool though. Very pretty area. There's a runoff coming out of a pipe right there. And that runoff is all the water that's coming off of this hill. We'll show you guys when we get up here. Oh my gosh! Jamie! We have to go back up this hill. I know. The dogs will pull us. Okay, you guys pull us up the hill. Deal? Deal! Look, here's some more runoff. So that's all that runoff water. But as you can see, there's like mini ice caves on this wall. Where the water... And you would think that it's all snow melt, but some of it is actually coming out of the ground. It's not just snow melt. Memphis is like, oh let's play in there! That's so cool looking. And the little mini ice caves. Look at that. Good job, Oakley. Went down that whole hill, back up that whole hill. Slack leash and all. Yeah. She did a good job though. Good job. We made it back to the Jeep. Thank goodness. So on the way back to the hotel, we decided to turn down some side roads. Which took us up a giant hill. Which brought us to the top of the hill where we can't see anything. But we can see all these cool trees. And there's a couple houses up here. Yeah, it's definitely interesting how the road kind of goes around these properties. We're pretty much at the top of the hill that's behind Venising. But there's no like lookout or anything. There should be a lookout. Really, there should be. Well, in Munising there's a lookout. But it's only a lookout during the summertime. They don't plow it during the winter. This is really cool looking though. I don't think the camera is going to do this hill justice. No, it probably won't. Well, maybe. I mean, if you look at the trees. It probably won't. This is crazy. If this was ice, this would be so scary. Yeah, I was worried about coming up this direction. I'm like, if it turns to ice, we're going to have to back back down. Hey look, there's Munising Bay. Yes, you can see it from up here. Oh yeah. And we're back at the hotel. Memphis is like, wait, what's going on? We're back for a little bit. We're coming in here and... Going to relax for a little bit, right? Yeah. TV, maybe order a pizza in a little bit. I know, what is the point of that light? Yeah, it's a very dim light. I guess. We're going to chill out. Let the dogs relax for a little bit. And I don't think we're going to use the sled today. Because they've had a pretty long day. Yeah, walking on that ice is... It's hard on us and them. Yeah. You don't see it much in Memphis or Shelby. Yeah. Us and Oakley. Yeah. You can see. Yeah. A little harder for you guys, huh? Memphis is like, whatever, I'm ready. Let's go. Traveling food. We're having pizza tonight. We figured, why not? We've got the fridge. I'll let you open it. There you go. Let's see. How does it look? Holy cow! Okay, I'm not going to complain. That looks amazing. Amazing. Okay, let's eat. Let's eat. So, one of the things we don't talk about a whole lot, when we go hoteling with dogs, is the process of how we let each dog outside. If you notice, it's just Shelby and I. So, basically what Jamie and I do, because thankfully there's two of us. One of us stays back at the hotel with the other dogs. And then, one of us takes each dog out for a walk. So, they can use the bathroom. Yeah, I know. We're going out for a walk. We are. We're going for a walk. You're on a walk. That's what we're doing. Keep walking. And if it's me that's taking them, you know, I always make sure that I'm in the lighted areas. Stay close to the hotel. Last night, this is actually where we heard the coyotes from. Yeah. Hopefully, we don't hear any tonight. So, we ate our pizza and it was amazing. And now, the dogs are having their dinner. Is that good stuff? Shelby's like, this is the best. Are you comfy over there? Okay, so earlier I showed you guys how I slid down the hill. I'm gonna show you guys what happened. I told them I was fine, Jamie. I just watched the clip. I said I was fine. Yeah, I'm fine. I guess I'm not so fine. Alright, here goes. I don't know if this will... That will totally... That will pick up on camera. It's not as bad looking on camera as it is in person. It's not as purple. But I got a nice big bruise right here. I have a feeling tomorrow it will look a whole heck of a lot worse. Yeah, get that in the right lighting. Yeah, it doesn't look too bad. Yeah, it does. You can tell it's gonna be bad. Yeah, it's literally that big. So, that big. So maybe I did bruise myself. Well, worth it. Maybe. I'll tell you if it was worth it when I wake up tomorrow and how purple it is. Oh my goodness. And with all that, we're going to bed. Shelby's like, I don't know what you're talking about. I'm already in bed. We're calling it a night. Super, super long vlog today. We're gonna go to bed so we can get up tomorrow and do some more fun stuff. I think we're heading to Munising tomorrow. We gotta find Miss Memphis. Where are you at Miss Memphis? Munising. Munising.
