It's kind of dark and kind of cold, but you can tell we're packing up to leave and head back south.
Such a bummer.
All folded up. They're lowering it now.
Alright girls, we're getting ready to leave.
It is nine o'clock.
We just took all the dogs for a walk around the campground.
Quick take a look at the site, make sure it's empty.
Oh yeah, make sure the site's empty.
If we left anything, I'll have it on video.
There you go.
And we are on the road, on the way home.
I have to take this sweater off. It's already hotter today than it was yesterday.
It's humid.
Look at that cool tent. Oh, focus!
Oh, there it goes.
Check that out. It's got a bunch of rooms.
Yeah, I know. We saw that one last night.
Oh yeah, we saw it yesterday.
Anyway, I'm gonna put my seatbelt on before we get on the main road.
We're on the way home.
Bye, Muska Lounge Lake.
Bye, Deer Park.
Say bye. Shelby, say bye.
Bye, Lake Superior.
We'll see you soon. Maybe.
Oh, for sure.
So I thought it would be funny to show you guys this.
This is where Shelby likes to be when she's riding in the car.
She either stands on this center thing or she sleeps on it.
It's like it's her own pillow.
And then, you got Oakley over there.
Sometimes she goes way in the back.
But most of the time, she's about right there.
And then, there's Shiloh.
Who never wants to lay down in the car ever.
She'll balance her head over the back seat and sometimes she'll fall into Rebecca's lap.
Or if Rebecca's not there, sometimes she'll fall down into the seat.
But most of the time, she sits just like that.
Almost. Put your head down.
There she goes. Just like that.
She doesn't like to lay down. She has to sit.
And there's Shelby.
Are you sleeping, Shelby?
Are you sleeping?
See that other foot?
You're just sleeping, huh?
That's just a place to be?
A good spot for you?
Silly dogs.
Silly, silly dogs.
Now, Shelby went to lay in the back.
Shiloh's still sitting up.
And Oakley has come to take the pillow.
That's just a good spot, huh?
It's like they just want to be as close to us as they possibly can.
Right? Is that all you want?
Oh, are you going to do it?
Are you going to stuff her face in the corner?
Aren't you a cutie?
Lay down, Shi. You'll be fine, I swear.
Shelby is slowly creeping forward to ride in somebody's lap.
But you cannot ride in the driver's lap.
You can't ride in the driver's lap.
Did you see Shiloh?
Look! Shiloh moved! Hi Shi!
How's it going?
You can't ride in the driver's lap either.
Oh, the camera got fuzzy.
Fuzzy camera! Fuzzy camera for fuzzy dogs, right?
Right?
Silly girls!
Silly, silly girls!
So, we made it back to the Mackinac Bridge.
On Labor Day, it's the only time they actually open the bridge
to allow people to walk the five mile span across the bridge.
It's eleven o'clock and I think the walk starts at eight.
There are still people walking across the bridge.
As we go, I will try to get some video.
They're walking on that side of the bridge.
The north side of the bridge.
So, I'll try to get some video of people walking on the bridge.
Look! There's people walking on the Mackinac Bridge!
They shuttle everybody over to that side of the bridge.
Then, they all got to walk back.
It's five miles all the way across.
It's quite a bit of people.
I mean, we're here late. They started way earlier.
Yeah, see the cars come back on the one side.
The people are allowed to walk on the other side.
There's a raccoon guy.
That's pretty neat.
It's the only time of the year, the only day of the year,
they let people walk across the bridge.
So, people come up here from all over the place
to walk the Mackinac Bridge.
I don't know...
Normally, they have like some sort of a celebrity or whatever.
The governor is normally here.
The governor.
As I said, I remember one time...
People are high-fiving people.
But, I remember one time, George Bush, he walked across it.
He was leading the pack.
This has got to be the worst part, going up this hill.
With these guys in the back of the truck.
Pretty cool!
Yeah, long walk.
People walking the bridge.
I don't think, you're gonna get the semis to walk.
No, probably not. They probably get in trouble.
There's definitely a lot of people.
So, how many feet down is it?
A lot!
It's a lot of feet down.
If somebody decided they were gonna jump, they would die.
It would be like hitting concrete.
Yep!
It would suck!
I could never do it.
Run! You're not supposed to run on the bridge.
Yeah, you have to walk.
You're not allowed to run.
They'll yell at you if you run.
I don't see anybody with a dog.
So, I don't think they allow dogs.
Wow! Look at this line of traffic.
Alright, I'll shut the camera off now.
That's just a straight line of traffic.
Gossips!
So yeah, it's a long way down.
There's a boat down there.
Right down there.
I'm gonna zoom in.
Look, you still can barely see the boat.
Oh, green.
There it is.
There's the boat.
We have made it to the top of the bridge.
It's a hill all the way up here.
And now, it's a hill back down.
Oh yeah!
Fun!
Hey, that boat broke down down there.
The tug boat is pulling it.
Oh yeah?
Yep, it's towing it.
That one must have broke down.
Look, people!
Lots and lots of people.
Half of those cars are cars waiting to get across the bridge.
The other half of those cars are people who had to park on this side of the bridge,
so that they could get on a shuttle and go to the other side of the bridge.
That's a lot of cars.
I'm glad we're going south.
There's our road up there, see?
There's like nobody on it.
We're like three blocks from the house.
Let's see...
16.2 average miles per gallon.
952.5 miles on this trip.
26 hours and 43 minutes in the car.
Not too bad!
Not too bad, Shelby!
Not too bad!
Are you driving?
You look like you're driving from right here.
Good job! You're a good driver!
