This is a video describing the practical use for passage planning and updation procedure for Admiralty Digital Radio Signals Volume 6.
Regards ❤️
Good evening, so today we will be learning about the last
Adminality digital publication ALRS Volume 6. So before you go ahead with watching this digital
publication, I will advise you to check out the video on paper publication of ALRS Volume 6 that
I had already published in the channel. So once I start ALRS Volume 6, this is what the screen
looks like. Again, same like all publications, the file menu will start on the top. It will
have a data updating wizard. Same option will be on this side also. Next comes on the edit,
you have the update week going on. Next comes the view. View is for the toolbars.
Whichever toolbar I don't want, I can just turn it off. But I would prefer to have all the toolbars
kept open so it will be easier for you to access the software. Suppose I just switch this one off,
that option had gone. Next comes scale. Scale is for the scale of how you are going to view this
one, the chart. Then marine services, bridges, LPS, logs, military, whatever options are there,
this will be displayed on your chart. Next, windows comes up. Windows, there is an option
of geographical area window. The screen you are seeing on the left side is basically,
I had kept this on. I will just close it. So once I keep it off, I won't be able to select by region.
Now, as my vessel is basically trading within the Europe and
Europe region, I am only having permits for area 1, 2, 4 and 3. You can see the rest of the
areas are a little bit darker in shade. That means I don't have the permit.
So I will just keep the geographical area window on. So you can see I am only having
permits valid for 1, 2, 3, 4. The rest I am not having permits. And suppose you are going
to Turkey. So you need to understand where Turkey is. Turkey will be somewhere here.
So I can directly go select the geographical area and check out under which area this Turkey
will come. Turkey is basically in the Mediterranean Black Sea. If I click it,
Turkey should come. You can see Turkey has come up. And the list of all the ports as well as
the reporting points will come up here. This is basically how we will be using the geographical
area. I will just close this window. Now suppose you are having a voyage from Russia to somewhere
in Turkey. So you have a general idea of where your ship is going to start from. So if you don't
know where that port is, you can directly enter the lat long here.
Suppose it was 43 degrees. I can just type in 43 degrees. And longitude I can type in as 053
east. And if I press the center button, the chart will get zoomed into that point.
Sorry, it's a bit far. Let me check what 43 and 37. So if I type in 37 and I click
the icon to center the map, it will come to that point. So you will get a general idea of how
which part of the chart is your screen referring to. Next comes,
suppose you are planning a passage, you can directly check out. This software is much
user-friendlier because it gives you all areas, whatever areas you are going to transit,
it shows you in a box shape. Suppose I keep, I should keep maintain, mostly I should keep all
icons on. So it will be much easier for me. Suppose I am going from Novorossiysk to
Bocere Strait. I know I will be having a box here. So I'll just have to right-click my mouse on top
of it and services here. You can see Novorossiysk, that will be the port. And Amber reporting is
there. Amber is universal. So it will be always available in all parts. If I click the Novorossiysk,
the next window opens up and just minimize the screen so that it will be easier for me to
see. As you can see, the pilot details have come up. I can directly click the pilots,
then the contact details, whatever I have clicked, it will get highlighted. If I click hours,
hours will get highlighted. Again, if there is a VTS area, VTS area will come up.
And port, the details of the port will come up. You can see there is a pilot area, VTS area,
and this one will be the port area, this symbol. That is what this page will be showing you.
You can just see all these three details as symbols on top of the screen.
And again, if there is a reporting, now I am heading to Turkey, there is no reporting.
You can see there was nothing here. It was all blank screens. So the next point of interest
will be this place. So I will just click this box and I can see Amber, English channel is not
applicable, Italian reporting is not applicable, and Kanakale, Bogasi, straight. So if I click this,
the next one that comes up is the VTS reporting. So you will get VTS, you can see the VTS mark
coming up. There might be a port here, the pilot services and reporting. So if I need to check
the VTS, I will just have to click. And before I go, I need to, before I go further, I need to show
symbol that is, that should be looked into. You can see a pencil mark here. All three points,
you can see, all four points, you can see pencil marks. Pencil marks denote that an update had
occurred within the last six weeks. So within the last six notice to mariners, an update had
occurred in this place. So going back, if I need to see the diagram of the VTS area, I will just
have to click the diagram and this diagram opens up. You can either print it directly like this,
or I won't prefer printing it directly because once you print, only part of the page will come.
So the easier way is to copy it, open a word file, then just click and paste it somewhere.
Then you can either rotate it, rotate it, increase the size to fit the page and you
can take a print out. This way nothing gets unprinted. So this is an important piece of
information. Then again you will have all the diagrams. You can see the sectors and
explanatory notes will be there, which points, the pilot boards, what are the reportings,
which type of plans have to be sent, all this will come up. And if you are heading towards a port,
maybe you are heading to Mersin. Mersin will be somewhere here. I'll just click Mersin,
the port details come up. I click the port, the port details come up. This is the easiest
way to use this publication. Before when it was paper, there was a lot of pages that you
had to shuffle through to get to the point of interest of your OS. But in this application,
basically shows you what all you will be using. And suppose I was lucky enough to
pass through to Italy, so I'll show you. In Italian waters, what all reportings were there.
Services here, Italian ship reporting and Italian ship reportings, which all types of reports
should have been sent. Then, then again, sorry, Adriatic ship reporting, the Adrip, Adirip,
again, the points of reporting and they'll give you directly the diagram. Just have to click it.
You can see in this, this part is getting, once you try to print it out,
a part of this page will get missed. So, so the easiest way is to copy it
and copy it into a word file, adjust the size and print it out.
So any point, anything you want to print, you can directly print like this using the right click
and the diagram, it is advised to directly print it after you copy it into a word file.
After that, these are the regions. This is basically the same thing that comes up
in your geographical area view. Then you can directly search any place that you want to
go to here and your lat long will come up on the bottom of the screen. You can see in this point,
the lat long of the pointer will come up. Basically, this is how the ALRS volume six
is used. It will basically give you all the details of VTS, boat, reportings, pilots,
and to get a better understanding, you can just view the last video on paper publication that
is already in the channel. I believe that you got a good understanding of this. Thank you for
watching. To update all the digital publications, either you can go to any publication and on top
of the screen, there will be an option file data updating wizard and obtain directly next update
and all these options come up. Even if you are updating any digital publication,
all the publications will come automatically. Again, you can either update it directly from
the data updating wizard. Start it. Remember, my last update was week five. So,
I'll just check week five. So, the next update should have been six. I'll just
click obtain update directly. Next update from internet next and select everything.
These are all the publications that I'm having on board. Click next and it will start downloading
all my updates. So, once I get an update, everything will be automatically updated
and I'll be getting a certificate. This certificate, I can preview it or take a printout.
I'll just click finish and if I click the updating wizard, if I preview it,
my updates have came to week six. So, this is how my digital publications are updated.
