Welcome back to Graceville where God's love is everywhere. It's me Pastor Anastasia and I'm so
happy that you've joined me today as we learn more about our best friend Jesus. Today's special
feature comes to us all the way from Puerto Rico where my friend Nathan has prepared a wonderful
musical selection. Let's listen in.
Thank you so much Nathan for that beautiful song. Boys and girls remember if you want to
share the cool things that you're doing to have fun while we're staying in please feel free to ask
your parents or guardians to inbox me and I'd be happy to share it with our friends. Sometimes people
can really hurt our feelings by saying harsh words or doing mean things to us. If we're not careful
we can become angry and bitter but God doesn't want us to hold on to all that pain. That's why
our theme for today is choose to forgive. Let me hear you say it.
You did it! And our memory verse for today is found in Colossians chapter 3 and verse 13
and it simply says do not be angry with each other but forgive each other. Let me hear you say it.
Do not be angry with each other but forgive each other. Colossians 3 13. Great job!
When we focus our attention on all the negative things people have done to hurt us it fills our
hearts with hate but when we choose to forgive God puts his love in our hearts for those who
have hurt us. That's why today's story is about a young man who made the tough decision to forgive
the terrible deeds of his brother. Can you guess who our story is about today? Don't tell me, don't
tell me. Joseph! Joseph was his dad's favorite son. He gave him a special coat of many colors
as a symbol of his love. That made his 10 older brothers very jealous. Their jealousy turned into
hate when Joseph shared his dreams of becoming a ruler over them. Determined not to let that happen
they came up with an evil plan to get rid of Joseph. They threw him into a deep dark pit
and later sold him as a slave in Egypt. Joseph was happy there until Mrs. Potiphar's lies
got him thrown into prison. It seemed as if Joseph's dreams would never come true until
God miraculously rescued him when he revealed the true meaning of Pharaoh's dreams.
Seven years later a great famine arose just as Joseph predicted forcing his brothers
to go to Egypt in search of food. By that time Joseph was a powerful ruler there. Unknowingly
they even ended up bowing down to Joseph just as he had dreamed. When Joseph saw them
he could have been angry and refused to help. But instead his entire family was saved
all because Joseph chose to forgive. Boys and girls sometimes people can be so cruel
that it seems impossible to forgive them. But when we choose to forgive like Joseph
God's love and peace comes into our hearts. What a wonderful feeling that is.
So what are you waiting on? Let all of the anger and hate choose to forgive.
