This is a video detailing the procedure for finding the WEATHER FAX (RADIO FACSIMILE) Station from ALRS. The said station needs to be tuned in at the appropriate GMT for receiving the Wx Fax.
The report will be in the form of a paper showing all the parameters, so that a mariner can use it to find an estimate of the weather he will be experiencing en-route.
Hope this helps you in your future.
Today we will learn about weather fax that's a fax email receiver on board
which will give you the weather fax so to get the weather fax you will have to
select the station as well as you will have to have that weather fax switched
on at the time of transmission to find out which station is transmitting and
what is the time of transmission you will have to refer to ALRS volume 3
volume 3 that is NP 283. NP 283 is of two parts and the type number the parts
you can either get it from the admirality chart catalog or since it is
two parts on the after the book the second part will be shown now the ship
is currently sailing in the America's Far East and the Oceania so we will be
using this book once you turn to the contents weather fax email or radio fax
email is in page number 6 1 so we will go to page number 6 1 this shows you
the radio fax email it's an introduction and it will show you what
all things are there in this book and how to read it I'll basically explain
it to you this these are the symbols that are going to appear on your weather
fax this is the list of all the stations that is transmitting weather fax suppose
you are going to China from India you just have to draw a line get an
approximate approximation so the stations that will be transmitting will
be Bangkok Kagoshima Seoul and Viluna always remember since there are a few
stations transmitting weather fax the list of stations are in alphabetical
order so it will start from alpha and end at Victor these are how a weather
fax email station chart looks like so for a better understanding I will show
you Honolulu Honolulu Honolulu this is the station code this is this lat long
of Honolulu station and these are the transmitting frequencies that you have
to enter into your fax email receiver so this transmission frequency will be
transmitting between these times this between this and first I'll show you
how the map of Honolulu looks like this is a map of Honolulu having different
sectors that are getting covered by different characters you can see it's
written Charlie Bravo 1 5 Delta so the Charlie is getting covered covering the
area of this place basically for a mariner the important things are surface
analysis and forecast so I'll see whether the surf where the surface
analysis is coming up it is coming in surface analysis is getting covered by
the area C at 0 0 1 4 Zulu and 0 1 1 0 1 2 1 4 Zulu so if you are switching on
your weather fax at 0 0 1 4 or 1 2 1 4 and you are entering the frequency of
Charlie the Charlie frequency is anything within this so once you enter
the frequency at 0 0 1 4 and 1 2 1 4 you will be getting a surface analysis
in the form of of weather fax the other thing that you may need will be weather
forecast surface forecast for 48 hours 72 hours 24 hours it will be transmitting
at 0 7 1 2 0 7 0 1 or 1 9 0 1 Zulu so since it is in a we'll see whether alpha
covers the whole region so you'll be getting at 1 day 2 day or 3 day surface
forecast if you power the weather fax on at these three frequencies according to
the timing even in alpha alpha the timings are 7 and 7 GMT this is how you
will get a weather fax
