How to introduce yourself. Okay, so let's start. In Spanish, as we have seen in many classes,
Hello, the first word you say, hello. Hi, What's your name? What's your name?
What's your name? ¿Cómo te llamas? ¿Llamas? The answer is, me llamo Ana or maybe your name is
Napoleon. My name is Napoleon. And you? My name is Teresa. My name is Teresa.
I want to clarify something. I want to clarify the sound of the double L, okay. The double L.
In Spanish, it sounds like "como llamar, llamar." It doesn't sound like L. First of all, it's not an L.
It's a double L. It's not llamar, it's llamar, okay. The sound goes from a J to a Y.
depending on how much stress you're putting into the intonation. For example, if I say,
Today's lesson, we're going to learn the verb llamar. I want you to understand, so I'm putting
a little more stress on the sound and it sounds like a J, llamar, llamar. But if I'm
asking me, if I'm talking to my friend and we're speaking quickly, maybe we'll say,
Oh, my name is Liliana. And it sounds more like Y, okay. So just remember, it's not an L.
The sound shifts from a J to a Y, like "ya," okay. And if you're speaking quickly, it feels more natural.
It's going to sound more like Y, but not an L. Where are you from? ¿De dónde eres? ¿De dónde eres?
Where are you from? I am from Colombia.
Colombia. Or, in your nationality, Colombian. Nice to meet you, nice to meet you. Nice to meet you.
The pleasure is mine, responds the other person. The pleasure is mine. Nice to meet you too, okay.
So let's, let's review this part, okay. Where are you from?
I am from Colombia. I am Colombian. I am Colombian. I am Colombian.
Then person A said, "Mucho gusto." Shake hands. "Mucho gusto, mucho gusto, mucho gusto."
And the other person should say, "It's nice to say, el gusto es mío. It's my pleasure."
Nice to meet you too. The pleasure is all mine, okay. Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you too. Some people say I've heard a lot from native English speakers.
Saying, mucho gusto. And the other person says, igual. Don't say, igual. Say, el gusto es mío.
Okay. Nice to meet you, and the pleasure is mine. So let's take a quick look.
Hello. Hi. What's your name? How do you call yourself? How do you call yourself? My name is Napoleon. My name is Napoleon.
My name is Napoleon. And you? And you? And you? My name is Teresa.
