oh you know what i recognize this
oh wow wow that is much bigger than on video
can't get much better than that
what's up everybody and welcome back to the channel so for today's video i am on cypress
mountain just above vancouver where red bull hardline is happening this fall i am joined
by lewis boucanan and we're gonna be doing a big enduro lap with a bunch of super nally features
i'm on my spindrift let's hop into the video okay first lap first stage i guess
so i've never ridden this oh sick yeah a bunch of lines here
this one wasn't very good got to use your brake lewis
the dappled line yeah no it's really hard to see yeah we are so just for the viewers we've been
literally waited for 30 minutes to have some clouds so the quality of the video is better for you
but i think we're a bit slow on the pedaling and we miss uh we miss the window a little bit
this is a fun trail yeah we just got a little bit here and then we can stop before okay
the muddy patch oh yeah um we can go uh to this trail this is a jersey shore yeah and then we cut
off it okay right so jersey shore is a trail that a lot of the world cup riders use
and it is incredibly scary
very fast
oh yeah that was a sick line buddy sick so down here there's a bit of a creek gap
smaller move above that as well it's kind of over a creek
super easy just a quick pop but we'll stop and slow things down before okay take a look yeah
nice i didn't do the one in a compression you like unload and gapped across it's a bit soft
though i didn't expect it to be like that yeah no i didn't uh i was too slow to react i wasn't
looking like far enough i didn't anticipate it and then i was on the line but i didn't commit
just a small drop here and then we're towards the creek gap okay oh you know what i recognize this
i think i've done that not gonna lie eight or nine years ago and it was pouring rain and we're
doing a shoot at the time and we shot for like an hour because we were like sucked this looks eight
it's kind of a sizable gap though really well there's no like nothing to pop so you have to
really use the suspension and your body and pre-load and make sure you you actually help
the bike so as you can see we have the gap right there and the ground is pretty loose lots of
gravel but we got like a nice uh berm support right there so carrying speed should be uh fairly
easy yeah for me on this section when there's two lines i thought why make two turns when i can just
make one so i come through the middle and use all the support of the berm at the bottom which
is the most confidence inspiring speed because you gotta have the best speed for the gap so
yeah quickest part need to be yeah makes sense okay i film you and then i'll do it sounds good
get it nice first attempt for me nice you can really feel the speed like super straightforward
you can see the landing pretty much the entire time as soon as you leave the corner so landed
much further than i did oh really you were here yeah i was yeah i just felt like it it feels like
really natural yeah because it's uh it's not a blind jump nice oh yeah that was sick dude
oh my god this is so fast
yeah
dude epic yeah i've actually rode that yeah but must have been like eight years maybe
yeah and uh yeah still as fun as uh used to be not sure why i never come down here
it's like 45 minutes from my house yeah squamish is just too good
loamy stuff and then some jumps and yeah this was great okay a bit of pedaling
i'm gonna cross the shock onto the now onto the now i don't get it buddy
no beautiful yeah so we're at the top here of a pretty hidden trail i've done this once before
following someone uh which helped massively because there are some pretty sizable features
down here so i'm gonna take my time look far ahead and we will stop before one of or the
biggest rock roll is on this trail and uh scope it out and yeah give it a rip i look forward to it
i've actually seen that trail on the social media and uh i haven't done much uh slabs or
big feature yet this year so doggy daycare
oh sick okay oh that's exposed yeah i did
okay okay couple bikes and wow i actually lost the grip right there i got a bit uh
no i mean i was coming to a stop i was looking at you didn't really
pay attention to where my front wheel was and slid a little bit this video is brought to you by
jensen usa jensen is an online shop that sells worldwide most mountain biking product i use
they have been a great support of this youtube channel for the past few years and you can find
on their website one-up components air gun gaffer feed lock even my tools from topic or my tires
from maxis you sway packs met and bluegrass pretty much every mountain biking product you
need they have it so make sure you visit them by using the link in the description when you
use that link that support the channel and the videos now let's keep on riding so we've arrived
here at the main feature there's a couple different options on the right here we have
the b-line which is still pretty um pretty spicy yeah yeah you've got to think about it
it's quite steep and the inside line sounds like you have to commit in order to hold it
yeah it's also there's a ton of support at the bottom and then to the left here we have
the main rock roll which is called the sausage roll okay so go and check that so this area here
as we're approaching the rock slab is where you want to get your braking done pump up the brakes
get the rotors feeling good and really prepare for what we're about to see and what we're
essentially about to ride so this is my first time seeing it in person i've seen it on social media
so let's see uh i'm actually curious if i'm gonna feel very confident or actually pretty scared
wow that is much bigger than on video yeah a little bit of an overhang on it
so for this first part of the rock slab this is where i tend to really focus on lining myself up
so that my bike is pointing completely straight down the slab and i do most of my braking in this
zone right here so that once you're over the edge and you're beyond the point of no return
braking isn't really going to do much for you so i really focus on staying low to the bike
and modulating my brakes and not skidding down it so i'm going slow enough that i'm not skidding
and then i release and at the bottom i'm on the brakes hard again as soon as i hit the dirt
so for me this is one of the most if not the most important part
for being controlled down a feature like this okay lewis is gonna show me
always help to have someone show how it's done
you can see his heels yeah
nice that was quite a lot of speed at the bottom
okay so first attempt of the hot dog roll there's obviously a big compression i'm gonna be on my
front brake a lot so the front of the bike is gonna dive a little bit i'm gonna add a few
clicks of low speed and some high speed for the impact at the bottom okay let's do it
so i'm very controlled with the braking i got my heels down in order to get traction
i'm gonna open the line here a little bit i can see
slow down drop nice can't get much better than that really good brake control low to the bike
to use the corner at the bottom as support 10 out of 10. it was actually pretty easy to slow down
yeah this is good enjoying it okay now i'm following lewis down the feature
that was sick that was really good yeah that was really fun feels so good yeah yeah boom
like huge shout out to the builders like this is insane yeah putting in work like that scaling
also down the rock slab with like a rope cleaning it with a wire brush yeah it's a lot of work yeah
yeah shout out super cool feeling to ride it too and you're like on it and you just kind of float
yeah no it rides really well like having the vision building it opening it cheers oh yeah
add a bit more speed on this one so we're here the next feature this has a lot going on i did
not get the chance to ride it last time because of the fallen down tree and luca who the builder
of this trail has come up and taken the tree away so now we have the chance to ride it which is
awesome a couple different line choice options um i think it should be fine for us to ride through
it just take our time and find good points sweet i'm gonna go outside so i can open the corner at
the bottom i'm having a lot of fun today so i'm stoked nice sick that was fun
wow hell yeah dude i really really enjoyed that that's such a fun thing i think the viewers are
gonna be able to tell we're having a good day yeah so we're on to the next piece of the trail
this one's quite a bit slower more kind of tech moves and you're gonna have to look quite far
ahead we're just gonna keep good brake control and i've done this before pretty confident in myself
that i can pull the moves off again and we have good conditions dry conditions which is gonna
help for braking okay ready sounds good enjoy it buddy i'm pretty confident in the lewis skills
because he actually got third at world champs of dorney 2011 in champerey behind nekomu lally
and also
sick
haha that's fun so so far we've done over 850 meters of pedaling it's like a pretty decent day
oh yeah that was a sick high line sick not sure i understood
nice dude i went much slower because i didn't have time to look at it
sick
nice hell yeah dude that was sick that's a fun trail right i went much slower than you on the
hip oh yeah because like ideally i would have stopped look at it properly i could see that i
could just go slow and up of it but next time i'll come back look at it better and i'll go
reach for a second landing like you did it's kind of hard because when you land
you i bounce and the rock kind of rolls into a compression yeah i mean i feel like if i didn't
have the strength i could have let that go go control yeah no and it's because there's a big
crack in the middle yeah it's either you go slow or you go fast enough but you can't really uh
work your speed it's like you got to commit super cool before with the step i loved it it's like
something that i feel is not super common yeah like riding blind like this is my favorite type
of mountain biking you know because you're not pushing so you don't have that stress level
and it's all about like listening your bike your body and try to like finding the flow yeah
down here is quite a bit more technical than the section that we just rode
more slow a little bit trialsy vibe um but just follow your nose and you should be fine
sweet have fun skinny nice sick nice oh i was tied to the tree
oh sorry that was awesome so final piece of the trail is more bike park a little bit more rough
hard pack some small jumps and drops um but yeah let's just bring it home and have fun okay
enjoy yeah that's loose oh my god wait stop stop i'm gonna clean that rock
so the reason why i didn't jump i was looking at that tree and i was like wow is this pretty close
my shoulder
it's probably a bit safer yeah that could be like closed off i mean it's uh pretty safe
right now but can use some maintenance i don't know i had a feeling it was really blind and i
was like i have a feeling maybe i should stop good feeling yeah i'm glad i did that's because
of the tree before that was like i knew where i was going off but by the time i got to the end i
was like oh well those uh all those years of uh racing enduro teaches you like good skills
good reflexes oh wow
yeah so cool nice as you can tell i'm a bit more timid
oh dude what a day that was awesome
step down little double little double sick
i stayed pretty clean until now thanks everybody for watching that video i hope you enjoyed it
because this is exactly the type of video i want to be doing i had so much fun and on top of that
it was a great warm-up for the squamish enduro next week if you want to see more video like this
