The Doux BANANAS! Xtreme Gel- Is it really the strongest hold gel?? | BiancaReneeToday

Hey curlfriends, I'm Bianca Renee and you're watching Bianca Renee Today. And today we're going to try the Dew Bananas. I've heard so much about this gel especially from my stronghold gel lovers that I trust that this is a great gel option for those of us that do love stronghold gel. And if you don't love stronghold gel I am highly highly recommending that you get over that because that is what's going to keep your wash and go's lasting all week long and through humidity and giving you the elongation. It's just the most important step of your wash and go routine. So I'm on a hunt for the best gels. I do have a lot of favorites but this one is getting a lot of attention. So first of all this is from The Dew. It's called Bananas. Extreme gel, super shine and holding gel, sulfate and paraben free. Let's make sure it's silicone free and silicone free. What's good has banana leaf oil and aloe. Then it says to restyle apply water to reactivate the product styles as desired. So that also tells me that if I want to refresh my hair tomorrow all I have to do is add some water it's going to reactivate the gel which I do like instead of having to apply more. So overall my biggest concern out the gate was does it smell like bananas? Let's do a little smell test. Yeah you do get a hint of banana but it's not like full-on baby food banana and as a mommy with a baby I did not want to smell like banana baby food. Bananas just not my usual go-to scent that I want to smell like. I don't smell it on my hair though so that's important but it's fun it's a cute name I like the packaging. Correction I like the look of the packaging but once you see me apply it you'll see the problem. So without further ado let's cut to me straight out the shower so I can show you exactly how I applied this gel and how I got to these results. Fresh out the shower let's go bananas. This is allegedly the Dew's strongest gel and it actually says extreme gel super shine holding gel and it technically says extreme hold gel for sleek spiked and slick styles which made me think maybe this isn't also for a wash and go but then you keep reading and it says shingle or finger coil curls for maximum definition for best results diffuse or sit under a dryer allowing hair to dry completely before fluffing or separating curls so you wouldn't be fluffing or separating curls in a sleek style so I think it's safe to do so. Someone wrote me and said it's hard to get out the bottle. What the? This is hard to get out of here. You can't squeeze it. Oh okay. This might have to be like a scoop. I'm gonna do this. Get what I need. It does have a hint of banana but not like overbearing banana. It's like banana mixed with gel. Consistency is not too thick. It still kind of becomes smooth. Let's put this on. All I could think about is peel bananas peel peel bananas chop bananas chop chop bananas. Shout out to Miss Rachel. All right smoothing it in. I like how it feels on my hair. I like how it's kind of giving me that elongation. That's a good sign. Definitely gotta figure out this packaging though. What the? That's crazy. The shine. Look at the shine. That's good. Okay I'm glad the smell doesn't bug me. I like the consistency. It has good slip. Not too heavy. So I'm coming to you with no makeup because I like to test out the hold by seeing how it air dries first. So doing my makeup is the perfect amount of time to let my hair kind of get an air dry cast first and then I diffuse once my makeup's done. So let's let this sit and come back to see the final results. And I'm back and now my hair is 90 percent dry and we do have a cast ladies and gentlemen. This is what I like to feel before I diffuse. It's not completely dry so I'm not getting really like oh that's kind of stand up-ish. It's good. It's not crazy hard though. So I feel like we might have perfect curls. I did apply a lot in the front. These are a little more crispy. Now that there is a cast we can diffuse using the new Sally Beauty Luxe Infrared Smart Sense Dryer to diffuse. Medium heat, medium fan speed. All right. See how we're looking. This is day one hair and this looks really good. I'm getting a good amount of volume. We'll do like a little side flip. How the curls look. Beautiful. Now that I've diffused the cast is pretty much gone. I know people are always afraid of strong hold but usually when I diffuse and I scrunch for volume the cast does go away. So this could actually be even stronger in my opinion to still have a cast after I diffused but I think it looks great especially for a gel that's claiming to be good for like slick backs. Let me show you how the back looks all together. Leave your thoughts below. Let's check it out in the middle part. Very nice. While we're here this blow dryer does have this pick attachment. Let's see if I can play with the volume. Even more volume. Overall concluding thoughts. I do think this is a great gel for those of us that do love strong hold. I was able to get really beautiful results and also able to scrunch out the cast and get some volume even on day one. In my opinion this could be even stronger. So I think I kind of want to pair this with the Do Be Girl Crazy Sexy Curl Foam with that hold and this hold together. Sounds amazing. I was recommended that by my friend Casey Jo. So I think I want to do that next. Of course I ran out of that foam because I do think it is the Do's best product hence my empty bottle. But once I get more I'm gonna try that combo. You'll be golden. So the price is decent. It's not really like super drugstore or very high end. I feel like it's like a middle ground price but for 12 fluid ounces it was pretty good.
