The speaker highlights how specific herbal teas can help the body metabolize and flush out excess estrogen, alleviate common symptoms like bloating and breast tenderness, and balance overall hormone levels without relying solely on medication.
So many of you ask me about estrogen dominance, what are ways to break your estrogen down,
improve some of those symptoms. Remember the breast tenderness, the bloating, the migraines,
heavy periods, and so much more. I've been talking a lot about estrogen dominance. And
if you're not quite sure what it is, don't forget to check out my video on what is estrogen
dominance along with all kinds of natural ways to help you reduce it. And speaking of natural
ways to reduce estrogen dominance, we are all about merging Eastern and Western medicine
together. Taking that integrative approach really expands the toolbox, gives us answers
when sometimes we can't find them, and more options that are natural, holistic,
maybe right from the kitchen. So today I wanted to talk about teas for estrogen dominance. Now,
those of you who know me or have been watching me know that I am a tea sort of addict is probably
the best way to describe it. I was going to say aficionado, but I think it's more of an addict.
I'm always sitting with a cup of tea. It's one of my rituals that just make me feel better. I don't
know if it's the warmth or the smell, but I love a good cup of tea. So when we're talking hormone
balance, teas actually play a role. So I wanted to show you a couple of my favorite teas that
really do help to break your estrogen down, help metabolize estrogen much more efficiently.
What I've started with today is a very simple tea, one you guys probably love. It's just a ginger
tea. And remember, ginger has so many great properties, right? Ginger can help the stomach
in terms of stomach cramping. It can help menstrual cramps. It has so many great properties. But I'm
using ginger. It's also an anti-inflammatory, by the way. I'm just using a cup of ginger tea here
and adding a little bit of honey, stirring it all up together because it's going to help my
digestion, and I know it's also going to help my overall estrogen balance and how my estrogen is
broken down. So ginger tea is one of my favorites, and you can make any tea fun by adding in honey,
maybe squeezing a lemon into it. My mother-in-law used to actually add black pepper into her teas
because she thought that was stimulating as well. And I think she also added in turmeric,
a little bit of turmeric powder. So you don't have to get that sophisticated. You can stick
to a good old-fashioned tea bag, a cup, water, honey, end of story, and kind of go from there.
So ginger tea we like, and we've got ginger tea sitting here. The next one is dandelion tea,
and I talked about dandelion in my video when we were talking about supplements, really, that will
help and foods that will help with estrogen dominance. You can check that out as well.
But dandelion, remember, is going to support the liver. So it helps to flush out excess estrogen
from the liver. Works beautifully in doing that. So dandelion greens, many people will use in
different recipes and in different ways in the kitchen. And in Chinese medicine,
and actually in Ayurvedic medicine too, dandelion greens were a very important
ingredient for women's health. And now we know why, because it plays such a big role
in flushing estrogen out. So dandelion tea, for some of my patients with estrogen dominance,
I've been telling them to have a couple of cups a day so that they're not just dependent
on supplements or medications or those type of things to reduce their estrogen levels.
Okay, moving on from dandelion and ginger, here we've got red raspberry leaf tea. Now,
there are all kinds of weird misconceptions about red raspberry leaf tea. Some people think
it induces labor, it stimulates miscarriages. None of that is actually true. What it does do
is it helps to bind up estrogen. It has B6 in it, and I'm a big B fan. I've been talking about the
role of B vitamins for a really long time in women's health. Well, one of the most important
functions of B vitamins is to help bind up excess estrogen and move it through the body. So red
raspberry leaf tea actually has B6, helps to bind up estrogen, also has elegiac acid that calms down
cramping and some of the pain that excessive hormones or a hormone imbalance between estrogen
and progesterone can stimulate. So this is a great one too if you're having heavy periods,
if you find that your periods are incredibly painful, or if you've already gone past the
stage of having a period, but you're having a lot of those estrogen dominant symptoms of
breast tenderness, bloating, feeling just heavy or puffy, this is a great one to take as well.
So I love red raspberry leaf tea. And then moving on to spearmint tea. So this is an interesting one
and kind of leads to a different conversation. So one of the things with estrogen dominance
is that it will actually also trigger high androgens. And we haven't talked a lot about
androgens, but remember androgens are associated with endometriosis and PCOS because high levels
of androgens will give you acne, hair loss, maybe a few chin hairs as well, or facial hair,
or hirsutism as it's called. But all of that is associated with many conditions that often get
dismissed or gaslit as really not being a big deal. But if you're a woman, you know it's a big
deal. I've been through that, so I know how it feels. But here's the cycle we've got to understand
is that estrogen dominance, when that excess estrogen is not cleared, can contribute to insulin
resistance, which can contribute to androgen dominance, which gives you all those crazy
symptoms. So back to spearmint tea. Spearmint tea actually helps to block androgens, helps to bring
those androgen levels down. So I love using this for women that have higher androgen levels and
we don't, again, want to depend just on supplements and medications. So if you're out there and you're
got PCOS or you have a lot of acne or oily skin or you're losing hair, some of the things so many
of you come to me about all the time in practice at Center Spring MD, spearmint tea may be the
right fit for you. So again, we've got all these great teas that do play a role, not just in hormone
balance, but in the pattern, the hormone balance pattern of estrogen dominance, helping to break
them down, helping us to have healthy levels of estrogen, again, staying in that sweet spot where
we don't have too much and we don't have too little. It's all just right to make us feel
super powered. Now remember, I post videos every week. Don't forget to like and subscribe, and we
