Ladies and gentlemen, it's my pleasure to introduce Member of Parliament, Sandra Kabina,
to come show her support for us today as we celebrate World Kralendapa Day and the principles
of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance.
Everyone, please welcome Member of Parliament, Sandra Kabina.
Good evening, everybody. Good afternoon, everybody, I should say.
It is truly an honor to be with you.
Hello. Oh, yeah, that's much louder. Here we go.
Good afternoon, everybody. Thank you for inviting me.
I have two friends that have been with me along the way.
It is one of them, and it is very special for me to share this day with you,
where we honor, of course, freedom and resilience.
Here in Canada, many of you carry powerful stories of resilience and fleeing persecution
and of finding refuge in a country that upholds freedom.
And freedom of belief, freedom of expression, and freedom of conscience
are among the most fundamental rights we hold, and they form the foundation of open and democratic society.
And yet, we know that in many parts of the world, individuals are still persecuted
simply because of their beliefs or for practicing their faith peacefully.
Even here at home, we have seen how authoritarian regimes
attempt to extend their reach beyond their borders.
But your presence here today sends, of course, a powerful message
that dignity cannot be suppressed, that peaceful expression cannot be erased,
and that the pursuit of spiritual freedom is a right that belongs to every human being.
Thank you for the opportunity to be here with you today,
and thank you for your commitment to freedom, to peace, and to human dignity.
