In this episode of The Brief, host Shabbos Kestenbaum sits down with Tommy Robinson — the UK's most prominent and controversial right-wing activist and founder of the English Defence League — for a wide-ranging conversation about civil liberties, government overreach, and the state of modern Britain. Just days after Robinson led his "Unite the Kingdom" rally in central London, which drew tens of thousands to Westminster to protest the Starmer government's immigration policies, Tommy explains why he believes an entire nation has learned to self-censor — all while a decades-long child exploitation scandal unfolded across dozens of British towns and cities, with police forces, social workers, and local officials choosing not to act. In this episode, Tommy also covers: Why the Oxford Union canceled his upcoming debate — and what happened when he spoke there in 2015 The government's Prevent program and how it operates as a tool of social control The 2014 Rotherham inquiry and what it revealed about institutional failure His cultural movement to restore British identity and national pride His assessment of Nigel Farage, Reform UK, and who he believes should lead Britain Tommy Robinson is the founder of the English Defence League and one of the most searched and most controversial voices in British political life.

Five of the children are dead in this small town.
Why is it this group of people have come into our country,
where exactly the same crime has happened?
If people are allowed to listen to what we're saying,
they might realize we're actually quite reasonable
and that we have genuine concerns and problems.
What is the state of free speech today in the United Kingdom?
There is no free speech in the United Kingdom.
The entire media is controlled in the UK.
All of this is about a mass campaign.
We now self-censor as a nation because people are scared.
What can the American people learn from the erosion of free speech in the United Kingdom?
And welcome back to The Brief.
We're joined today by the Tommy Robinson.
Tommy is arguably the United Kingdom's most prominent activist on the right
and founder of the English Defence League.
Tommy, thank you so much for making the time.
That's right. Good to be here.
So I want to frame the conversation as follows,
especially as someone whose ancestry is British.
The United Kingdom gave birth to the concept of free speech.
Documents like the Magna Carta.
Thinkers like John Locke, Edmund Burke.
But since the passage of Britain's section 127 of the Communications Act,
you also have the Online Safety Act of 2023,
which actually mandated that companies, including foreign companies,
remove objectionable content.
Unclear how they define that.
More than 12,000 British citizens just last year alone
had been arrested for causing distress by sending these grossly offensive messages.
Again, very unclear how that's defined.
So I guess my first question to you,
before we get into the Islamic takeover of the United Kingdom,
is can you just educate myself and educate our viewers?
What is the state of free speech today in the United Kingdom?
There is no free speech in the United Kingdom.
It's far worse than you can even imagine,
in the sense that you're talking about the arrests.
So let me explain.
There's a terrorism organization called Prevent, okay?
And Prevent, 90% of what they deal with is not Islamic,
even though 84% of terrorism is Islamic.
So you have the majority of terrorism comes from the Islamic community,
yet Prevent, which is a government-funded organization,
a terrorism unit,
their job is to go and see people to prevent them getting involved in extremism.
And I'll give you an example.
A young 16-year-old boy I know who was at Speaker's Corner said Islam is violent.
That's what he said at Speaker's Corner.
Now, Speaker's Corner is the one place in the UK
where arguably we do have free speech.
One place.
It's called Speaker's Corner.
It's in London.
It's in Hyde Park.
200-year history of people going and debating different things.
Now it's all around Islam,
and there's lots of violence there from the Islamic community.
But Prevent went to this boy's house.
He was 16.
They went to his mum and dad's house.
So his mum answers the door.
She's got two counterterrorism police officers there.
We're from counterterrorism.
We're here to speak to your son, yeah?
So straight away, the family are alarmed.
His family are shocked.
And I'm in a group chat with this boy at the time.
Imagine the knock-on effect that this has to everyone who knows that boy,
his family, all of his friends,
just because he said Islam is violent.
They then sit him down.
They put him on a Prevent re-education program
where they re-educate him about Islam not being violent.
Even though Islam is violent, the facts say it's violent.
But the knock-on effect of that coming from the government
is that the purpose of it is to intimidate the entire British public into silence.
And that effect, whether it comes from the government or mass corporations,
you lose your job.
We're doing a case now with an NHS nurse.
The NHS nurse for the National Health Service, she's a nurse for 15 years.
She shared on her social media the government website page
of the statistics of immigration, and she lost her job.
So all of this is about a mass campaign of fear and intimidation.
So not only do you have the police arresting you,
but there's also a...
And that has successfully paralyzed this entire nation for, I'd say, 30 years
from feeling free to speak about any issues.
They wouldn't need the laws anymore to stop your free speech
because we now self-censor as a nation because people are scared.
So let me ask on that point of self-censorship.
You were meant to debate at Oxford University,
but it recently was postponed over security fears.
In fact, last week, the bishop of Oxford, Dr. Stephen Croft
and the local Imam Manwar Hussain, they wrote a joint letter
and they said that they were disturbed and saddened
that you were even scheduled to make an appearance.
And so I guess I have to ask you, why are so many democratic institutions,
especially institutions of higher learning,
why are they so scared to hear from you?
Well, the debate question was, should the West be suspicious of Islam?
And that question has been answered.
We can't have a debate in the most prestigious debate society
in the world because of the threats of violence.
So we can't.
We're at that stage.
I debated at Oxford University.
I gave a presentation in 2015.
And this is why they don't want us to have a platform.
If you watch that presentation,
it's the most watched presentation in Oxford University history, I believe.
And I gave it.
And when I walked into Oxford University, everyone in that room hated me.
No one would greet me.
No one shook my hand.
I was getting booed.
I was getting hissed.
After an hour and 15 minute presentation of me having my opportunity to say,
this is who I am.
This is what's happened in my life.
This is what my town looks like.
I understand your town didn't look like this,
but my town did.
For example, I showed them,
you know, after September 11th in the United States,
when I went to my shops,
there was magnificent 19 posters glorifying and celebrating the 19 bombers.
So I showed the images of this at Oxford University.
I said, when I went to my shops, this is what was at my shops.
When I went to college, at my college, they celebrated the attacks.
In my town centre, they done a march and celebrated the attacks.
So I understand that wasn't your town.
Now, after this presentation, I had York University,
Edinburgh University, all of them cancelled
because what the authorities would see
is if people are allowed to listen to what we're saying,
not what they say we're saying,
they might realise we're actually quite reasonable
and that we have genuine concerns and problems.
And we have genuine...
I come from a town called Luton, which is why I rose to my prominence.
It's why I have the beliefs I have.
It's a 50% Pakistani Muslim town with 45 mosques.
I've seen everything.
But the biggest problem is we understand Islam.
We know how they think.
We know the ideology.
It's the surrender by the government and the police.
It's the surrender, the total surrender
of all of our values, every value we hold dear,
from free speech to freedom of expression,
to freedom of assembly,
all of these things are totally sacrificed.
And the reason being fear,
fear of the way the Islamic community will react,
fear of riots, fear of jihad, fear of war.
It's the same reason we didn't just back you
in the Iran conflict for America,
because we're fearful of what the 6 million Muslims in the UK
will end up doing.
Same as France, same as Germany.
So I think everything you're describing,
and you'll correct me if I'm wrong,
but everything you're describing to me
is a symptom of a much larger problem.
And that is the complicity, the fear,
the silence over what you always talk about,
which is the Islamic takeover of the United Kingdom.
So I kind of have a two-part question.
Number one, can you just explain
and educate myself and our audience,
what do you mean when you talk about the Islamic takeover?
And then more specifically,
when you talk about the grooming gangs,
which I don't think enough Americans
truly understand that story,
can you just articulate what exactly happened?
What are and who are these gangs
that are grooming young people in the UK?
So for 40 or 50 years, each consecutive government,
Labour and Conservative,
have had open border mass immigration policy.
They've opened up borders
and they've been importing people from Pakistan,
from Somalia, from Iraq, from Syria,
from all these Islamic nations.
And then what comes with that,
or the reality that comes with that,
is the problems that I talk about.
Now, the government,
if it have tried to suppress these problems,
because if the public were made aware
of all these problems historically,
they'll start looking at the government,
because all of this is to do with policy failure.
The government decided to bring these people in.
You're mixing oil and water.
So when I talk about the Islamic takeover of the UK,
say if we look at London even,
London is 33% English now.
That's a blueprint.
My hometown, when I was born in 1982,
had one mosque, now it has 45.
White English are a minority.
We're a minority, yeah?
And in the process of that,
when we talk about the grooming,
so grooming sounds like something nice, right?
What we're talking about is jihad.
We're talking about groups of Muslim men
in every town and city across the UK,
kidnapped, tortured, even murdered
young English girls.
All the men doing it,
predominantly Pakistani Muslim.
All the victims, predominantly young white girls.
Now, every police force in the country,
I started talking about this in 2004,
and I proposed to fame on it in 2009
when we wouldn't shut our mouths
and we hit the streets in our tens of thousands at times
of young men, angry young men,
with the English Defence League,
because we were demanding something's done
about the rape of our daughters.
We were walking through town with signs saying,
our daughters are not halal meat,
and stop the Muslim pedos.
So, which then come in 2014,
there was a government report by a gentleman called,
a government report that come out of a newspaper article
by a journalist called Andrew Norfolk,
and it confirmed everything we'd been saying for four years.
That in Rotherham, a small town in the north of England,
1,400 children were raped in a 16-year period.
And what come out in the government study,
and with all the paperwork from the charities,
there was a charity called Risky Business
that used to deal with little girls
when they were getting abused.
So, all of it was locked.
Everything was there for everyone to see.
The police were called every time.
The police were given DNA evidence of the rapes.
The police decided not to prosecute
for cultural sensitivity.
The police were fully aware
that these children were being raped.
Do you know what some of the cases,
this is what happened in this town.
Two fathers, whose 13-year-old daughters
were being raped in a house by six men,
Pakistani men,
the dads went round to the house
to get their daughters back.
The police turned up.
They arrested the dads
and left the daughters in the house.
They arrested the dads.
They literally handed over
a generation of Britain's daughters
to Pakistani Muslim men.
And when I talk about,
so your audience can understand the scale of the problem,
Pakistani men or Muslim men
make up 3% of the British population.
3%.
They're responsible for 90% of the convictions
of groups of men who rape children.
30% of the men convicted are called Mohammed.
And this is mirrored
across every single Western nation.
If you look at Germany,
Germany opened its borders in 2017.
Between 2017 and 2022,
it's run up 45%.
The statistics for Muslims in Germany last year,
54% of the rapes are Muslim men.
They make up 5% of the population.
In Sweden, 63% of the rapes are Muslim men.
They make up 6% of the population.
In Paris last year,
77% of the rapes are Muslim men.
So literally,
men are coming into our country.
And if you try and ask why,
this is the question I got beaten down for.
Because I said,
why are the Hindus not doing it?
Why have they come to this country?
They've integrated, they've assimilated.
Why are they not f***ing everyone?
Why are the Sikhs not f***ing everyone?
Why are the Jews not f***ing everyone?
Why is it this group of people have come into our country
and we have now been proven 85 different cities
where exactly the same crime has happened,
exactly the same MO,
exactly the same operation.
And I focused,
and I'm going off on one here,
but it deserves going off on one.
I focused on a city called Telford.
It's a small little town in the middle of England
and it has a 1.7% Muslim population.
Well, in that town,
1,000 children were raped.
1,000 in that small town.
And the police identified 200 suspects
from the Muslim community.
Just in this little town,
five of the children are dead.
Five of them burned alive.
In this small town, yeah?
No one's even heard of it.
So I went to that town.
I've done a 12 to 18 month investigation.
I've done a five-part documentary series
called Rape of Britain.
You can watch them at trfilms.co.uk.
But when I went there,
I went there to investigate and meet the survivors.
We identified 264.
But if we just take the police's estimate,
the police's figures who identified 200 men,
there's only 1,000 Muslim men in that town.
There's only 1,000 Muslim men
who fit the age of 16 to 70
that are involved in the rapes,
which means that the police identified
20% of the Muslim community in kids.
20% of them in kids.
In this small town,
the other town you've got the figures for is Rotherham.
There's no Muslims there either.
3.7% Muslim population.
So what do you think it's like in Luton that has a 50%
or Birmingham that has 50%
or Bradford that has 50%?
In Oldham that has a 40% Muslim population.
You don't get those figures
because tens of thousands have been...
Tens of thousands.
You know, I'm not sure...
In every town.
I'm not sure what's more disturbing,
the fact you have a disproportionate amount
of Muslim men committing these acts
or the fact that you have British police officers
who know that it's happening
but don't want to be called Islamophobic
so they won't do anything about it.
Let me ask you because in response
to all of these shocking issues,
you had your second Unite the Kingdom rally
and I just wanted to know,
number one, how did it go?
And then number two,
how are you planning on using the anger
of the British people to create policy
or political change for the future?
Our country has been spiritually asleep for decades.
We lost our faith.
We lost our identity.
We lost our strength.
We lost our courage.
We lost who we were as men,
as British men especially.
We become weak.
We become cowards.
We become selfish.
We care about ourselves
and not our greater community.
Do you know, I'll give you an example.
Again, I always go to...
When I went to Israel,
I met eight lone soldiers.
Are they lone soldiers?
Eight soldiers who had travelled.
So basically, I sat around a table with them
and they've come from all over the world.
They don't have any family in Israel
but they've come to sign up for the IDF.
They're Jewish.
And I sat and realised that
they know there's something greater than them
and that's the Jewish state
and it's the future of the Jewish people.
We in the UK just think it's mean.
Every one of us think it's us.
We're not willing to sacrifice
for the nation, for the community.
Whereas previous generations
died and sacrificed to hand down
a safe and prosperous country to us.
We become selfish cowards.
We lost our identity.
Christianity was removed from society
and it left a void.
In that void come LGBTQ+,
it come Marxism, communism, come Islam,
all these things.
So we set up a cultural movement two years ago.
We got together with 12 influencers,
whether you call them YouTubers, influencers,
citizen journalists,
and we said that
if we try and start a political party,
it will take tens of millions of pounds in 20 years.
But if we change the culture,
we change the politics.
So we set out in 2024
to change the culture of the UK
and if we change the culture,
we change the politics anyway.
If we all work together,
all of these different influencers,
we overnight had a larger reach
than the BBC World Service
because I've got this many on X,
another person's got that many on YouTube
and we could reach all the demographics.
So we set up a new cultural movement
to celebrate British identity
and to focus on ourselves
and what made us great
and make it cool to be British again.
That was the focus.
Cool to be British,
reintroduce Jesus Christ,
make men masculine again,
get them fit, get them healthy.
And we're two years in
and if you look at our last events,
we have definitely shifted.
The discussion now that's being had
in British politics,
in British media,
by journalists even,
by politicians,
was unthinkable two years ago.
Unthinkable.
And again,
as someone whose whole family
lives in the United Kingdom,
it's impossible to escape the dominance
that you and your team
have had on British cultural life.
I do want to ask you
because you talk about the incompatibility
of Islam with the West.
One of your bread and butter issues
has of course been Muslim migration.
But the Labour government
in the last few days,
they released their own statistics
and it showed that migration
into the United Kingdom
was at 171,000 people.
But that is actually down
more than 50% from last year.
The Office for National Statistics,
the ONS,
they had data that revealed
that about 94,000 people
claimed asylum in the United Kingdom
in the last year.
But that's also down
about 12% in the year prior.
And the Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood,
she said that these statistics
clearly showed that the government was,
quote, and I want to make sure
I'm getting this right,
was restoring order and control
to our borders.
So I guess if you were in front of Mahmood,
if you were in front of Keir Starmer,
do you think they're doing
a good enough job on the migration
and asylum seekers coming
into the United Kingdom?
And if not, what more do they need to do?
Eight Afghani nationals
were arrested this week.
All of them come on boats
and all of them are part
of a new grooming gang
in the city of Norwich.
In Norwich.
Eight were arrested this week.
We had a lady talk at our event
in London last week,
whose daughter was stabbed
23 times by a Sudanese migrant
who arrived on a boat.
He butchered her to death.
He had already failed asylum
in Germany and Italy.
He was in our country
and put in a hotel by our government.
We have had 100 children
sexually assaulted by migrants
just in hotels,
just the ones in hotels.
And the government's solution
to get them out of the hotels
is to BlackRock are buying
loads of houses in the UK
and they're creating them to HMOs.
So in our neighbours now,
our house is going to be filled
with groups of men
who we know nothing about.
And I'll give you another example.
One migrant who come into the UK,
come into a city called Bournemouth.
When he arrived, he said he was 15.
He went to school.
He was abusing girls at school.
But when he got to the age 21,
he stabbed a Royal Marine
through the heart of a knife
in the town centre.
He murdered him.
When that happened,
they found out he wasn't 21.
He was 26,
which means when he comes to the UK
and said he was 15,
he was actually 21 years old
and he got put into school
with our children.
Do you know what else they found out?
He shot two people dead
with an AK-47 in Serbia
before coming to our country.
These are just,
I could give you hundreds
and hundreds and hundreds
and hundreds of these examples.
Our children are not a lottery game.
Our women are not a lottery game.
They are treating it
like it's a lottery game.
And these statistics that you talk about,
they're our women.
They're our families.
And you are endangering them.
And the British public
are fully aware now
that they have taken away
the safety of our women.
It's gone.
There is no safety in any British city.
The issues I used to talk about
the people that were succumbed
to just towns like Luton,
rough working class towns,
they're now spread
to every corner of Britain.
So the only optimism I have now
is that the public are fully awake now.
They're fully awake.
The public is standing with us.
They're fully awake.
We're not hate preachers.
They're fully awake.
We're telling the truth about the problem
and the scale of the problem.
So when I hear these anecdotes
and these particular names,
these particular examples,
it's difficult to refute.
But for those of you,
for those of our audience
who don't know you
or on the political left,
they'll say, oh, Tommy Robinson,
he's the Islamophobe.
Tommy Robinson, he's the bigot.
So let me ask you point blank.
Tommy Robinson, are you racist?
Is your issue with Islamists
or is your issue with all Muslims?
Muslims are victims of Islam.
So you get some amazing Muslims
and I've met some beautiful Muslims
growing up in Luton.
Some of the people I love are Muslim,
but they're not beautiful
because they're Muslim.
OK, then many Muslims
are cultural Muslims only
and they treat the religion
like a buffet.
They treat it like a buffet meal.
They take the bits they like
and ignore the bits they don't like.
But the bits they don't like
are the dangerous parts.
So my problem is with Islam,
not Islamism.
That's a word that we've created
so that people feel comfortable
talking about Islam
because all the problems
are the core tenets of Islam.
It's the teachings of Islam.
It's and I ask the question,
when people say,
so it's OK to be against Islamism
and Islamists, they say, yeah,
and that's really bad.
Yeah, yeah.
Was the prophet an Islamist?
When you know that he beheaded
600 people in one day,
when we know that he pillaged,
he had sex with a nine-year-old child,
he took the wife after beheading someone
and took that wife that night.
This is not a moral man.
You cannot do not be confused
in confusing Islam
or Christianity with Islam.
Jesus with Muhammad.
Jesus said, turn the other cheek.
Muhammad said, cut their heads off.
That's the reality.
That's a great line.
Let me just ask you,
as we wrap up, a political question.
So you have Rupert Lowe of Restore Britain.
And then, of course,
you have Nigel Farage of Reform UK.
If I had to put money on it,
I would say Nigel Farage is guaranteed
to be the next prime minister,
whereas Rupert Lowe is a bit of a spoiler.
However, Farage has actually distanced
himself and the party
from you and your ideology.
So I guess I'm curious,
who would you encourage your followers
in the United Kingdom
to actually be supporting?
Nigel's weak on Islam.
These were Nigel's comments.
These are his comments.
He said, by 2050,
Islam is such a powerhouse in the UK,
we cannot alienate Islam.
So if you're not willing to alienate Islam,
the reason the grooming gangs
were allowed to go for 40 years
is because no one wanted to alienate Islam.
If you're not going to alienate Islam,
you're going to be on the side of Palestine.
If you're not going to alienate Islam,
so you're going to change your values
and what you should be doing
to already surrender
to an ever-growing Islamic community.
We know the projected growth forecast
for Islam in Britain by 2050.
My difference between me and Nigel
and probably Rupert and Nigel
is we want to stop it.
We're not going to sit here
and allow the Islamic community
to get such a power in our country,
allow them to continue.
They need to be encouraged.
Many of them, not all of them,
but many of them who have not integrated
and not assimilated,
who are not working,
who are a drain on society,
need to be encouraged
to go back to their homelands.
Because England's our homeland.
We've got nowhere to go.
They can go back to Pakistan.
They go back to Afghanistan.
These rapists, these terrorists.
We have 40,000 British Muslims
on a terror watch list.
Get rid of them.
We don't want them here.
Wow.
Yeah, we don't want 40,000
on a terror watch list.
Now, it's just a numbers game, Chavos.
It's just a numbers game.
So that 40,000 will become 80,000.
If you look at the statistics
and the number,
the majority of terrorism in Europe
happens in France.
Why? It's got the most Muslims.
Then it's UK.
It's got the second most Muslims.
It's just a reality.
So it's, and for Americans
who don't understand this,
you had four successful terror attacks
in two weeks when I was in America.
Four in two weeks.
You've got a 1% Muslim population.
If you had a 10% Muslim population,
the reality is you've had 40 attacks.
War's coming.
Your borders have been opened.
Our borders have been opened.
They're not here to integrate or assimilate.
They're here to dominate.
So problems are coming.
And we have to have these frank,
we can't worry about offending people anymore
with our conversations.
Not with a generation
or the future of our nation's sake.
So I know my commentary
may upset some people's feelings,
but I don't care about their feelings.
I care about young English girls
getting pillaged.
I care about people getting
their heads cut off in the street.
Well said.
Tommy, we'll leave it at that.
And thank you for the message
to the American people
and what they can learn
from the erosion of free speech
and the influx of Muslim migration
in the United Kingdom.
I do have to ask one last question.
I have a brother-in-law who's a big fan
and he saw you in Israel
and he's been dying to ask
when you had kosher McDonald's,
how does that compare
to the other McDonald's throughout the world?
I didn't think there was much difference in it, man.
Everyone made a big deal out of it.
I think I've done a video, didn't I?
I've done a review on it.
I think I've done a review on it.
It wasn't that much different.
It wasn't that much.
I love my time in Israel.
It was beautiful.
Beautiful.
Tommy Robinson, again,
one of the most, if not the most,
prominent activists on the right
in the United Kingdom.
Thank you so much,
not only for making the time,
but everything you're doing
on behalf of the people of Britain
and Western civilization.
We really appreciate it.
Thank you very much.
Cheers. God bless.
Well, thank you so much for watching.
