AI GeneratedThis video features a tasting of a biodynamic Pinot Gris from Domaine Schlumberger in Alsace. The presenter explains how extended ripening gives this variety more weight and character than Pinot Grigio, highlighting the wine's balance of low acidity, rich aromatics, and distinct minerality derived from biodynamic farming practices.
So we're tasting the Pinot Gris from Domaine Schlumberger for our biodynamic box.
This is the same grape variety as Pinot Grigio but in Alsace they leave them to ripen for longer
and they gain greater weight and greater character of flavours due to this extended ripening period.
This wine is farmed biodynamically on the family vineyards. They have the highest holdings of
Pinot Gris as a grape variety has lovely sort of orange, peach, light cheese, some light spice
and always has quite a low acidity but this is counterbalanced by the aromatics which
give it a little lift in the mouth. A minerality from better vineyards as well
gives you a greater depth and more structure to a wine with lower acid but let's taste it and see
what we think. It's got a floral sort of rose petal edge, lovely peachy note and yet that
mineral stoniness that's lovely underneath it. I think my belief with biodynamic vineyards is
that the life from the vines is far more vivacious than those that are normally farmed and I think
comes through in the grape, in the wine and the resultant glass but anyway enjoy!
