Welcome back everybody. It is sort of a brunch
hour. Not quite breakfast, not quite lunch, but we are in
the Masjid Indian District. What's that mean, Kel?
It's just the Indian Muslim district of Kuala Lumpur.
Okay, very good. So again, it's a beautiful area. I mean, it's
looking wide and big. It's a beautiful architecture in some of these buildings.
But we are here for some food and we are going to the
famous for their pool teas and a variety of delicious looking
roti dishes. It's the type of place that should have
something for everybody. There's going to be
veg-based ones. There's certainly going to be eggs.
It's going to be, yeah, quite a delicious little feast. Yeah, it looks like
online, it looks like there's lots of different
kinds of food that we can just ask, like, is this veg or not veg or
there's like, it looks like there's a panipuri that I'd like to do a little
bit. I don't know what they put in it, so
we'll just ask and find out. And I know we're getting hungry. It's a
little late for breakfast, but we're up and moving, so we're good.
Are you gonna get a tea? I'm definitely getting a tea. I'm
definitely getting it. Oh yeah, milk tea. Milk tea. Yeah, and we just discovered
on the way over from our taxi driver, she was telling us that
teo or kopio is, so if you just order tea or kopi or coffee, it comes
with milk. Correct. That's just like the default.
That's the normal, but if you go o, it means like zero, so zero milk.
So if you want it black, then you have kopio or teo. Yeah, the o
is an o, but it could actually, in my mind, now represent a zero, zero milk.
She was telling us how to tell the difference. That was really funny. I really
like that, yeah. Good at Cedar Forest? Yeah. You guys getting hungry? Yeah. I'm
pretty starving. Yeah. I'm so hungry.
Yeah, oh, all types of pigeons. This is a great little little bridge. Yeah,
Forrest. Oh, you do. You hear the little birds' feet clicking up on the roof?
That's great. All the pigeons? Yeah, a lot of pigeons, and we can definitely hear
them scuttling around on the roof. Oh, Forrest, look at the roof. Look here.
Forrest, Forrest, Forrest, come here. Look at the roof. Oh, I hope you don't get
pooped on. Okay, so the restaurant is actually right here. It's actually a
little later than I thought. It's about 12 30, so I would say we're past brunch,
straight up into lunch, and yeah, this is it right here. Daddy, I scared the
pigeon. You sure did, mister. You're a pigeon scaring dude. All right, so first
trick is finding seating. So it's these blue tables. There's not a ton of
seating. So, oh, do you see a spot, Kel? No, I'm not walking by pigeons. Daddy,
we need to go to the pigeons so I can get more. No, I want to find a table. I
need some lunch. Do you guys want us to order for you? Walk down there, or do you
want to come down? We can just order for us, I guess. Let's order for you. Let's
get a mix of stuff. Yeah, you can order for me. I just want a tea, too. You want
a tea, as well. Granite, you probably want, you want a tea? Yeah, tea. Okay, so
we'll get a couple of teas. Okay. We'll get the roadie mix. Yeah, you guys okay
here? All right. Yeah, yeah, roadie special with the egg, sauce, tellur, um,
curry mix. Okay, and we'll take three. Three. Three specials. For my wife,
vegetarian. Oh, roadie and dal. Okay. How many pieces of roadie? You want one?
Okay, maybe two roadies, because four is one. At least two roadies for the bed. Yeah,
and then the tea? Hot or cold? Hot or cold tea, Cal?
How about, uh, two hot teas, two cold teas. Two hot, two cold. Can we also, sir,
the, is this, what do you call this, krupuk? Krupuk? Oh, okay. Okay, yeah, and then do you
want fried chicken? Yeah, fried chicken. Okay, so maybe he'll have a dry, not, not wet, dry.
How much? Uh, one piece, one piece. Great, thank you. So it looks like we're gonna have
a whole mix of food now. Oh, awesome. Oh, this must be our cold tea, Cal.
And this is the ice, the factory ice, the tuber ice. So the ice like that is safe to drink,
as long as it's circular and hollow in the middle. Uh, this ice is from an ice producer
right here. So it's circular, there's holes in the middle. So we have two cold, two hot.
Oh, it looks good. Boy, it's fast service. This is, this is what his team is for, right? Yeah,
the tea stall. This is the one. She's got it all. Oh, okay. All right, so Cal's gonna go
with the tea delivery. I'll try to stick around and see if I can't catch the, uh,
roti action. Oh, cabbage? No, that's okay. Just, just the fried chicken. Okay, okay, no problem.
Um, yeah, okay. This is the briyani. This is vegetarian. This is vegetarian? Yeah,
one, one serving. That's fine. Oh, yeah, pickle. Okay, great. It's very easy to order here.
Okay, that's great. You want Josh? Uh, no, Josh. This is Josh? Uh, chicken? No. No,
for my wife, veg. Just the veg. And I'll take some spoons. Okay, so yeah, it's just all kind
of kicking all around. Uh, this has got to be ours. These are the specials. A chopped roti.
So she just gives it a good tear, a good chop.
Whoa. Okay, the curry down below. Very, very nice. Smells delicious.
Big batch of curry. Very hot. You can see the gas burners on here. Okay,
now this one has the sambal. So the sambal should be very tasty.
Okay, now these are the soft-boiled eggs. Soft-boiled. So it should be a very runny egg.
Oh, look at that. Perfectly soft-boiled.
Beautiful.
Okay, that one.
Okay.
I'm gonna take service spoons. Oh, spoon and fork.
Oh, look at that. Isn't that awesome? This is awesome. Yum. Delicious. Okay,
so the rice is all veg. Okay. Thank you. Perfect. I'm gonna like that with the curry. Looking
great. Okay, thank you. All right, so what do we got here? We've got the specials. This is the roti
with curry. This is vegetarian, right? This is vegetarian. Yeah, Kel, this one's yours.
Okay. Dad, is this one yours because it has the spices? You want a trade? That's fine.
This is the same, same here. So for some reason it made it onto that plate. It did not make it
onto these. But yeah, I'm happy to give you a trade. Got that, Granite? There he goes. Very
runny. So that soft-boiled egg is just wanting to be broken open.
Oh, I forgot to order Milo for Forest. Forest, you want a chocolate milk?
Chocolate. I don't know if it's milk, but Milo? Milo. Milo. Thank you, Cedar.
Oh, no, thank you. Okay, here's a spoon. Uncle, do you have Milo? Milo? Milo ice. I want ice.
Milo ice. Cool, thank you. This is excellent. So again, a beautiful spread of food. It's really
good. The curry has a nice like flavor to it. Not spicy at all. The roti, it's just been like
absorbing the curry. It's really good bite sizes. And then you just break the egg yolk and dip it
in there. And I tried the sambal, or the hot sauce sambal. I think there's fish sauce in there.
It's got a little bit of a fishy flavor to it. And it's actually, it's definitely like the spice
builds up, but it's actually not too spicy. But yeah, so this is really good. Excellent. Good. I
mean, you can see where this would be like a hearty little start to the day. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
Now, Cedar, I just watched you smash that egg yolk. Yeah, I like over easy eggs. Very good.
Now you've chose the hot tea. Is that what you still want? Or did you want to go for the cold?
I mean, you want it hot. Okay. Forest, you look like you're enjoying the roti. He's snatched it
off my plate. Snatched right off the plate. Between the roti, the croup roup. But what do
they call it here? You said it's not croup croup here. I think that little thin crispy one's like
something. I'm going to totally say it wrong. Pompadom. Pompadom. Okay, maybe. When we were
in India, that's what we called it. Pompadom. Okay. All right. We need help in the comment
section. It's this croup croup. Pompadom. What do you call that? Please let us know. Thank you.
Now, meanwhile, I see it looks like the pigeon. There's not even any meat left in the bone.
You enjoy the fried chicken. All right, my man. Cool. And then again, vegetarian rice.
Yeah. Kel, have you gotten started with the dal? It's really good. It just has a really nice,
subtle flavor. Just kind of like a real thin, light, almost soup to dip your bread in. It's
really, really good. You know, I wonder if people generally get refills. Do they eat this one plate
and are done? Or they're like, more roti, more roti. And they keep sopping it up. I don't know.
But it looks to me like a perfect little amount of food. I have a feeling with this guy, we might
need more. Yeah, you might be right. Now, Forrest, this is chocolate milk if you want some chocolate.
You want to try it? Of course. I addressed the ice. So this is the factory ice. I know I shouldn't
be like bottle feeding the kid, but you know, I'm here. Yep. Is this pigeon? It is not pigeon.
It would be really funny if it was pigeon, but it is chicken. Big chicken. Big chicken. Now,
we did eat pigeon. You guys remember that? Pigeon in a bag. Where did we get that? Do you remember?
Hong Kong. At the 7-Eleven in a bag. They literally have bagged pigeon for sale. It
was quite delicious. The service here is great. It's really fast. Yeah. It's out of control.
Like uncle was just immediately, he's like, oh, sit here. I'll walk you up. He helped us order.
And auntie back there, she had full command of the service area. She was like this, that, that,
like really getting it done. It's a very fast meal. Dad, can I try the iced tea?
Iced tea is outstanding. It's just purely sweet, milky heaven. Oh yeah. The warm one is really
good too. Just creamy and flavorful. All the spices mixed in there. It's good. You know,
it's a, it's a weird weather day. It's it doesn't feel all that hot, but I did check it's 89
degrees. So humidity medium. So I couldn't tell if I wanted iced or hot. I'm kind of glad I got the
ice. Yeah. Also good. Equally, equally good. Yeah. Just cold or warm. That's, that's the choice
really. I think they're both good choices. It's delicious. The roti is so fresh and chewy.
You have to dig in. I'm going to, did you try the cold? I didn't try the cold one. You're
welcome to try it by all means. It's just refreshing. Oh yeah. They're both good.
Maybe because it's the middle of the day, the cold would have been a better choice,
but the warm is so good. It works. All right. First thing, kind of like Cedar and Granite
mentioned, you've got to break up that egg yolk and it's just oozy. Smear it in. There we go.
I'm just going to mix it all together. I was going to do it individually, but
I know I'm going to mix it eventually. You're getting full Forrest?
Yep. That works quite well. All right. So I've been adding the dal to the,
the veg biryani. It is so delicious. That rice is flavorful. It looks like it has pieces of
like maybe a red pepper. Maybe it's a chili in there. And then there's maybe some onion,
something light colored, and then some fried shallots in there as well. And so the,
the rice brings out its own flavor. Something savory in there, maybe a cinnamon or cardamon
or something in that biryani as well. But it's really good. I just put the dal right on it.
And I ran out of roti thanks to my buddy over here. But I've been using this,
the cracker to kind of scoop it up. And it is, it is a great combination just to have that like
soupy rice with the crunchy crispy cracker. It's so good. What did you find here? We have
peanut. Peanut bun. Peanut bun. Yeah. And we're back for basically our second round of food.
We're getting four more of the iced teas. That's what they just finished serving right here.
So four more iced teas. Kelly's getting some of these buns. I think we'll get at least two more
plain rotis for the table to smash out some of those sauces that we're still eating.
Maybe one piece. One, one, one piece. Chicken Josh.
One chicken. Yeah. Oh,
curry. Okay. Chicken curry Josh. Okay. Cool. All right. Thank you, sir.
Oh, this is it. Oh, wow. Very fast.
That's perfect. Thank you, sir.
Yep. It is. Very good description, young man. I see a food vlog in your future as well.
All right. I'll give this chicken a try. Yeah. I should be able just to pull it right off that
thigh piece. It's just been, oh, here comes the bone completely. Yeah. That's what I thought.
So the bone just pulls right out. I think the chicken brings it all together.
And I like that it's the dark meat. So I got the thigh here and the leg.
So it's not dry at all. It's just like soaking it up. Yeah. That's why like
forest chicken was like not dry at all. Yeah. And this is fried.
Is it spicy? Did you say that? It's a little, it has a kick. It has a red color. Yeah. It's funny.
It's a funny spice because it's not like so over the top spicy, but it's just like,
it's got a long kind of burn to it. Yeah. Pretty nice. Sharp. Cause it gets you like right away.
Yeah. It's the exact opposite of like a creeper. I got to use a napkin here. My hands are just
totally soaking. So there's all these little napkins and there's vendors that sell these
things. What's interesting to me about Malaysia that I've noticed so far and Singapore,
they don't just give out napkins typically. You have to bring your own little napkins. So these,
these little packets, you can buy these super cheap off of vendors. You can buy them at
any grocery store, but your pharmacy, right? Thanks for your help. But you're going to
definitely want to bring a stash. I think we, I have one in my bag. Kelly has one or two in her
bags, but yeah, it took us a minute to learn that lesson. We're like soaking in sauce as we eat it
I got my stash. So I have two of these cause there's, you know, we go through them a lot
and then we have wet wipes as well. These are from, these are from the U S but I've seen them
in like the pharmacies and stuff like that. Mostly pharmacies is where you want to go.
I also have this in case you need to hand sanitize, but all these places,
especially if you're eating with your hands, they have hand wash,
like right behind us is the hand wash station. Right there. So hand wash, no towels to dry
though. Just that always kind of throws me. Cedar, can you fish out one of those circle
ice cubes on your straw? Just for a better explanation, if the ice looks like this,
where it's circular and there's a hole in the middle, that is certified ice from an
ice distributing factory. So in Malaysia, that's the type of ice you can have in your drinks.
If it's chipped ice or chunky ice, or somebody is like whacking it and making it into like a
blended, like a street food kind of thing, that's the ice where you need to be more cautious of.
What the internet said was in theory, you can drink the water from the tap in Malaysia,
but the problem is not so much the water quality, it's the storage tanks, the piping and all that
kind of stuff. So the general rule of thumb in Malaysia, bottled water or boil it first and
run it through like a Brita type filter. But to the ice, those kinds of ices that are in these
drinks are certified, so they're okay to drink. All good? That's great. So the reason I like
about it is because it's not like having the protein, it's like good. Man, that's spoken like
a champ right there, man. It's just good. All right, guys, all content? Any other food coming
our way? I'm so full. So full? You're full? Kal? I'm full. You're done? All right, I'm gonna kill
this Josh Roti here, and then I'll come back with you with the final price. But all in all,
pretty excellent stuff. I can see why this is sought after. And it's now pushing one o'clock.
Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention, this place is 24 hours. That's unique. Oh, wow. Yeah. Yeah.
I mean, you come here 24 hours a day. Okay, that's why it didn't look like we were gonna
come here at like, I don't know, 8, and then we got here at noon. It's when we got organized and
found the bank and the ATM. That's one thing is bring cash. Yeah, all right. Yeah, we had to
actually go back because we couldn't pay with card, so I had to check over to an ATM. Plenty
around in the area. But cash only. Yeah, all right. And then you can see, popular, very busy,
very popular. All right, we're gonna wrap it up, and we'll see you when the bill comes.
All right, everyone, total price out right here,
78 ringgit. That was all five of us, numerous rounds of tea and food. Very few places you can
feed your whole family of five for $18. Yeah. Yeah. No, this is incredible. I mean, totally
worth it. Oh, force is onto the pigeons, I guess.
