How do your pets handle severe weather and loud thunder? Do they stay completely calm like Kira and Eleanor, or do they need a thundershirt to feel safe? Let us know in the comments below! Today turned out to be an absolutely wild and crazy weather day here in Northern Michigan. What started as a productive morning packaging up new 3D-printed dragons and hummingbird figurines for the Etsy shop quickly turned into a double-header storm situation. Jamie came downstairs to let me know the storm sirens were going off, and before we knew it, we were tracking some serious clouds that looked like they were starting to rotate! We ended up dealing with sideways rain, massive hail bouncing everywhere, and over a full minute of non-stop rolling thunder.
Through all the chaos, our Siberian Huskies, Eleanor and Kira, proved just how brave they are. These amazing dogs didn't care about the loud thunder booms at all! We even shared sweet memories of how Memphis used to handle the loud storms as she got older. After the first round cleared out, we received a beautiful delivery of flowers from Carol and Michael, and I managed to run to the post office to pick up some incredible fan artwork and gifts. We even received a couple of beautiful mystery packages honoring Memphis as the best kitchen helper ever, which truly touched our hearts.
Just when we thought the coast was clear, round two of the severe weather hit, bringing even darker skies and a massive temperature drop. Once the sky finally cleared up and changed from muggy to chilly, Eleanor demanded that we go for our walk, shouting at us until we agreed! Kira had a blast splashing through the deep puddles in the ditches, which led to a hilarious towel-drying session back at the house. Thank you all so much for your continuous love, packages, and support. Stay positive, dream big, and we will see you again soon!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM OUR DAY 📦 Packing up brand new 3D-printed dragons and updated Eleanor sets in the Etsy shop before the craziness started. 🪲 Jamie collecting toxic rose beetles from the lilacs in a cup of soapy water to save the local birds. 🌪️ Watching the clouds rotate and capture wicked lightning strikes outside as the severe weather moved in. ⛈️ Facing sideways rain and heavy hail bouncing off the ground right from our open doorway. 🌸 Receiving a gorgeous surprise flower arrangement from Carol and Michael right after the first storm. 💌 Opening amazing fan mail, beautiful drawings, and touching memorial gifts honoring our beloved Memphis. 🐕 Tracking round two of the tornado-threat weather while Eleanor tests out her thundershirt. 💬 Eleanor throwing a massive howling fit to demand her evening walk once the rain finally stopped. 🌊 Kira trying her best to go swimming in the flooded street ditches and getting totally muddy paws. 🧼 A hilarious towel-down session with the girls after their chilly, puddle-filled walk.

Well, good, wonderful, beautiful morning, Pawdience.
I don't know if you can see the color of that sky over there.
I was just downstairs packing some Etsy orders, which if you guys don't know, we did have a few new items go up in the Etsy shop.
We do have some hummingbirds left. Some of the red, white and blue dragons are there. The new updated Eleanor is there.
In the three pack. I'm gonna try to start listing those as just a single as well in case you guys want to update your set.
But yeah, there's some new stuff in the Etsy store if you guys want to go check that out.
Anyway, I was down there doing that and Jamie came down and said that the sirens were going off, that there's a storm coming.
Sure looks like a storm to me.
We might have to go down to the lake and check it out once it crosses over because it's heady because the big lake is that way.
Okay, so I thought you said you were coming to pick roast beef when you said it to me. I'm not kidding.
I'm like, what are you talking about? But you said you were coming to pick
rose beetles?
Rose beetles. What do you got in your coffee cup there? I got soapy water so they don't climb out. Good plan.
Oh, yeah that thing right there. Yeah. Oh, they're all over the lilac too. In the one in the front? Yeah. Yeah, they're all over the...
Apparently they're prevalent right now. And I guess... Oh, here's a whole bunch of... Oh, these two are making more. Yeah, I'm picking them.
They're all making more babies.
So these... Will these kill the plants? Is that why they're bad?
They'll eat the plant a little bit, but the biggest reason is that they're toxic to birds.
Oh, really? Yeah. Oh, yeah, y'all got to go. Sorry. I don't even like... Oh, one fell. Yeah.
I'm not... Here's one.
I'm not a big fan of birds, but I really don't want you to kill the birds. Right.
I like looking at them. I just don't want them close to me.
Yeah, they'll probably just make a couple sick.
If they eat them, birds might be smart enough.
Oh, big bumblebee!
Oh, look at him.
He's gathering all that pollen up.
There he is. Look how big he is.
He's cool.
Big and fuzzy.
Look at you.
I love that.
You can stay. We like you.
You can come hang out. See you later.
Oh, wanna move over here?
Say hi.
I love how big they are.
They're so big and fluffy.
You're so cute.
Hi friend.
Yeah, hi. Wow, hon.
What?
Did you walk out here and look this way yet?
Yeah, I did.
I think Greg's getting it.
Huh.
That's pretty colorful.
I was coming over here to check on this bush.
Cause when I saw it the other day,
I saw some of them bugs out here, but I didn't know they were bad.
Oh, I don't see
any out here today.
This is a heritage lilac.
It's a late blooming lilac.
It's a
Little Kim lilac.
Miss Kim lilac. That's what it is.
Little Kim is a different thing.
She's like a wrapper or something.
Miss Kim. It's a Miss Kim lilac.
Smells amazing. The neighbors keep walking by
and talking about how pretty it is.
And they get about four to five feet tall.
So this probably won't get much taller than this.
It's so pretty though.
Well that changed fast.
Yes, kind of getting green.
Like really fast.
That bird is having the time of it's life.
Oh, and there it is.
There's Zyra's lightning too.
Speaking of, I got a video
outside of Aldi the other day when it did that.
And I think I got the lightning on camera there too.
So we can insert that here.
We're watching this.
Right there.
Where it's starting to rotate.
That could turn into a tornado
pretty quick actually.
The colors are almost right.
Oh, and there's lightning happening over here.
Hold on, let me zoom out.
There we go.
Yeah.
Oh, that was crazy.
I did.
That was so cool.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was on camera.
Yeah, and that spinning is still spinning.
Yeah, I was looking at that.
I'll just stand here for the rest of today.
That was so cool.
Huh.
Yeah, we should probably
go to the other store.
Oh, here I can hear it.
It's coming right for us.
Well, I was
on my way to the post office.
I think so too.
I had to go help save the neighbor dogs.
Oh, ok.
I'm going to stand
back here a little more.
So we can listen.
It's coming
right for us.
It said it wasn't going to rain until three o'clock.
I knew it was wrong.
The wind is crazy.
I probably shouldn't be under the metal gazebo.
But I wanted to see what the clouds
looked like over there. Oh, it's raining harder.
Oh, look at the wind.
I got to make it back to that door.
Uh oh.
It's sideways rain.
Look at it go.
Ok, maybe I should have
stayed over there.
I mean, it's cool looking though, right?
Oh man, it got real dark in here all of a sudden,
didn't it?
All of a sudden, it just started
storming, right?
Yeah, my app said
it wasn't supposed to start until three o'clock
and it's 145.
Feels really good, that wind blowing right through the window.
Huh.
Well, the storm sirens
went off for a reason.
I guess, that's the reason.
It's hailing!
Oh my goodness! See it bouncing
off the grass? Oh my goodness!
Don't wreck my car!
Holy cow! Look at it bouncing
off everything.
Oh my... It's bouncing everywhere
in the grass.
Oh my goodness!
That's crazy!
Oh my gosh!
Ok, it's bigger hail.
Um...
Ok.
You're just gonna experience this with me
as I stand here in the door.
Cause...
This is insane.
Like crazy.
Look at the hail. I don't wanna walk out there.
But look at it.
I'm soaked! Oh my gosh!
Worth it for you guys.
Huh. Alrighty then.
That's how it's gonna be today.
The color of that sky
is weird. Listen to the thunder.
That is a non-stop roll.
Oh hi
hummingbird friend.
Dude, you're gonna get wet.
I'm just saying.
Lightning!
That thunder is still going.
That was over a minute of thunder.
It's still going.
That is one thing I do have to appreciate a lot
about these dogs. Even Memphis was the same way.
They don't really seem to care
about thunder at all.
Like they're not scared of it.
They don't really freak out
when it comes to thunder at all.
Which is nice. As Memphis got older
when she started to lose her hearing
she had a few moments where I think she could feel it
more than she could hear it and she didn't know what it was.
But even that didn't last long.
Once she realized nothing was hurting her
you know, after a few times of hearing it
she was like, oh it's not so bad.
Are you listening to the rain?
It's raining and thundering.
That's what it's doing.
Hear it out there?
Making all that noise?
It's raining and thundering.
Craziness.
And look, now the sky
is lightening up.
We might have to go check out over the lake
once this clears up a little bit.
And just like that, it quit raining.
I don't know how long it's going to quit raining for
but after I eat lunch
I gotta run to the post office while it's not raining
and uh
we'll go look over the lake
and maybe we'll find a rainbow!
What?
No?
It's like, mom, that rained really hard.
I know and I wouldn't let you outside because it was hailing.
I couldn't let you outside, it was hailing.
Craziness.
They come outside and they're like, wait, why are we out here?
Hey hun!
The rain's gone.
It's blue sky for a minute.
I don't know how long it's going to last.
Oh, Tina's roof is all steamy.
Oh, probably.
Ours is too.
Oh, your rug fell down.
Awww.
The rug fell down.
Eleanor's like, wait, are we opening a pool?
Are we opening a pool, dad?
Alright, I'm getting ready to go to the post office
while it's done raining for a minute.
You wanna go with me?
I'm gonna go look over the lake at the clouds.
Okay.
I thought that was the hummingbird that flew by.
It was just a little bird.
Eleanor, could you quit eating the helicopters?
Okay, well these smell
amazing.
Jamie and I were just finishing up lunch
and the doorbell rang
and it was flowers!
These are from Carol and Michael.
Look at how...
And of course, I took some pictures of the dogs
with the flowers because, you know,
that's what we do.
So, we can insert those photos right here.
Oh, I think they're working on the pier
over there.
So, there's a bunch of dark clouds.
I'm down at the boat harbor.
There's some of the crazy clouds
that went over us.
And there's some more over there.
And then, that's what's coming right behind it.
It says it's gonna start up
again at about three o'clock.
So, it's gonna be an interesting day.
The lake has got some pretty big
swells on it. No big white caps,
but it's got some swells.
You can kind of see how it's rolling.
But yeah, that is what
just went past us.
That looks pretty crazy.
I just went to the post office.
All the drawings,
the pictures, the artwork that you guys sent
is beautiful. There's no way
I can go through all that on camera.
This is really cool.
This is from Melissa in Burbank.
This was really cool.
Yeah, I probably will wear these.
This was from the Castro family. They sent snacks.
Somebody sent some gummy bears, but I'm not
sure who. And then, those of you that have been
to the expos, you may recognize...
Or, you know, that comment a lot. You may recognize
Rosa. She sent this.
Which is
really, really, really cool.
And I'm probably gonna hang
somewhere up there, I think.
I just showed it to Jamie, so we gotta figure out
where we're gonna put it. But it turned out
really, really cute. Thank you guys
so much.
I've had quite a few of you guys ask
about sending cards, letters,
drawings, gifts, whatever.
You know, things. Please don't feel like you have to.
But if you want to,
here's our PO Box.
You can send it. I can't guarantee
I'm gonna show everything on camera, because...
But I will
say thank you ahead of time.
Man, it still sucks. I know it's gonna
suck for a really long time. And it's not gonna get better
for a really long time. But...
Bleh! It's not fair.
You know, I say that it's not fair, but then
I think about the fact that
she had an amazing 13
years of her life. And as I'm going
through some photos and posting them
on my personal Facebook page,
um...
She saw a lot of things that most people
don't even get to see.
Hi, Kira!
It's like, Mom, I just ate my yunch, and now
I'm napping. You've made it on.
I know! You're napping, because guess what?
Round 2
is heading over
right now. I made it home from the post office
just in time. Round 2
of today's Crazy Storm
is upon us.
I'm in here filming a
review for our
YouTube channel, youtube.com slash
at the review videos. And
can you hear it?
Hold on, I'll just go outside. It's coming again!
You know what's funny?
I'm filming Eleanor in a
thunder shirt right now. And it just
that big thunder that just happened, happened
while I was filming.
There's the sirens.
Round 2. I'm glad I made it home.
Round 2
incoming. This showed up today
as well. I don't know who sent it.
There was no note. It says
forever your best kitchen helper ever.
And there was two of
them. Came to the house,
but it had no note. I know a couple of
friends of mine said they were going to send
stuff. So, if you sent these,
let me know. There's a big cloud over
there.
You can see it
expanding
upwards. Yep.
And then
we look over here.
That's the front.
It's coming right for us! The temperature
dropped like 15 degrees.
This is cycling under here.
Hopefully it just
passes by. It's a tornado!
And if not,
we're going in the basement. Yep.
It's green.
There's a big circle
forming. I'm going to walk
out here a little bit. Out in front of this tree,
so you guys can kind of see.
I don't know if you'll be able to...
It's raining.
I can feel it.
Yeah.
I know when you look down that way.
It's so crazy.
This cloud here...
The one that's growing back here.
Here comes the rain. I feel it.
I'm coming. I'm coming. Oh yeah, there it's bigger.
Greg said
it's rocking and rolling at his house.
He said the cats are freaking out.
It's definitely coming right for us.
It's coming right for us!
Oh, that's spinning.
Yeah. That's cyclone.
Yeah.
It's a twister. It is. It's coming
right down on us. We're such mid-westerners.
Oh, the storm center went off.
Oh, there's clouds. Quick, let's go outside and look.
This is spiral.
It's spiraling and coming down.
I think it's moving
past us.
Yeah, I think so too.
It's gonna start raining.
It's spinning right there.
Those clouds are
spinning. They're spinning this way.
And it's thundering.
And lightning then.
And wicked looking. And it started raining.
I'm getting wet. I'm going inside.
So, we knew it was gonna be a crazy
weather day today, but I only
expected it once.
Not twice.
And not like tornado threat
weather. Are you enjoying listening
to it? It smells good, doesn't it?
It smells
so good when it rains.
So good. Thankfully, this time
around, it's not as windy as it was earlier.
Earlier, it was crazy
with the wind. That was loud.
I missed the beginning of it.
That was bright. That was really bright and really loud.
Maybe we should get away from the windows.
We made it back inside.
Oh my goodness.
They don't really
seem to care.
This would have freaked Memphis out a little bit.
She didn't like the loud storms anymore.
You guys don't seem too bothered.
Yeah, you're getting better.
You used to be worse. Yeah, she's definitely getting better.
But Kira don't care about a storm.
She's like, I'm only scared of the oven.
There's a flash. Is it gonna be loud?
How far?
It's the last one.
Is it gonna be loud though?
Rumble and a boom.
Interesting day today.
Crazy day.
Well, the power just flickered.
All the power in the house just flickered.
It didn't go out.
It just flickered, so it reset our internet.
It reset everything.
That's pretty crazy.
Oh, my brother is texting me.
I hope he's okay down there.
Yeah, we sure did.
Oh my gosh, that shook
the whole house.
Okay, that one.
Jamie and I just saw that lightning
right through the window.
We should shut these lights off, so we can see the lightning better.
We don't have internet, so she can't do it for us.
I don't know.
Maybe we should go in the basement.
Here it comes again.
Yeah.
Eleanor is like,
I'm gonna get closer to the window.
No dad, you should hug me.
It's kind of scary.
Are you a little freaked out there?
I can put your ear muffins back on.
Or your thunder shirt.
Interesting day.
Weather update.
We're still here.
We didn't get blown away.
It's still raining.
It's been raining since that last storm started.
It's almost seven o'clock.
Still raining.
I don't know what to tell you.
We gotta wait this rain out, I guess.
That's what we gotta do.
Can I help you?
Not actively raining.
Eleanor, can I help you?
How about you?
What? You just yelled at me.
What?
Eleanor, you wanna go for a walk?
Tell him.
Yeah, you tell him.
She's like, tell him dad.
What?
You wanna go for a walk?
Look out!
Marbles!
Yeah? Wanna go for a walk?
Yeah, she is.
She's ridiculously excited.
I guess the sun is out.
It's wet out there.
I guess we're going for a walk.
Still yelling, huh?
Still yelling.
I was looking for a rainbow,
but I think it stopped raining everywhere.
So, I don't see...
I don't see a rainbow.
Maybe when we get up to the corner here,
if we look that way.
Maybe we'll see one.
I don't see one right now.
It's cold out.
Yeah, it is.
It's really cold out.
It was muggy before the rain.
Now it's cold.
I understand.
Tell me all about it.
She's like, I am telling you all about it.
You're gonna be so excited.
Tomorrow we're going on a mini adventure.
Tomorrow we're gonna go on a
Charlotte birthday party hike.
I guess.
I don't know what we'll call it.
Something like that.
Yeah, we'll go have some fun.
Yeah, I know. We're going.
Kira's like, come on dude.
Come on.
Y'all are wearing your harnesses tomorrow.
Yeah, tomorrow you get your harnesses.
Elinor's like, why do I always
gotta walk over here? Kira gets to sniff all the grasses.
Kira does get to sniff all the grasses.
So, Elinor zigzags while
Kira's over there like, ha ha, I'm sniffing
all the grasses. Don't worry, I do let
Elinor sniff grass as well.
But if I let her do what Kira does,
we'd never make it anywhere.
Kira's like, yeah, I'm gonna jump
in this ditch, dad.
I'm gonna get in the ditch.
I'm going swimming.
She's like, I'm thinking about it.
Thinking about swimming.
In the ditch.
There's a lot of water in the ditches.
It rained a lot.
Like a lot, a lot. That was a little crazy.
Maybe for an interesting...
An interesting day of, is it gonna
thunderstorm, is it gonna tornado?
Yeah, right.
We got tornado winds,
but no tornado.
No real tornado.
60 mile an hour winds.
Oh no, what happened?
You got muddy paws.
Don't you dare.
There you go.
Walk in the clean puddle
to wash yourself off.
Elinor's like, we turn here.
No honey, you get to walk further now.
Like you used to.
We'll go the whole way.
Even though it's a little
chilly out.
Kira's having fun in the puddles.
She's like,
wait, dad said I can walk in these puddles.
I might do it again.
I'm gonna walk in the puddle.
We own the grass.
Yep.
Yep. You want over there?
Would you walk in the puddle
if I let you over here?
She's like, yeah.
She's like, ew, no, I don't want my feet
wet. That's weird.
Feet get wet in the pool.
That's what you get for walking
in the puddle, Kira.
I'm filming dad wiping you off.
Look at her face.
She's like, this is embarrassing.
This is embarrassing.
I just can't get over the look on her face.
This is stupid.
It's embarrassing.
Eleanor, you're next.
You're wet too.
You're next.
You wanted to go for a W-A-O-K
after the rain.
That's ok. We wanted to go as well.
It's only 59 degrees
outside.
She's like, oh me? My turn?
I do not mind. You can do whatever
you would like, as long as you are petting me.
She is more
similar to Memphis
in some of that.
The like, ok, whatever you want to do.
Where Kira is like,
um, no thank you.
You definitely are a little more
happy to have the things done.
She is a little wet.
Yeah, he's gonna dry you off
and then you can chill out.
I found out who these were from. These were from my friend Felicia.
They're so cute.
And there's two of them. One for me, one for Jamie.
And it wouldn't be tradition
if we didn't forget to say goodnight last night.
We did, didn't we?
You enjoyed your bully sticks.
We watched some TV.
You just kind of chilled, huh?
We just chilled.
So we're gonna go ahead and end it right here.
We hope you guys enjoyed today's video.
As always, thanks so much for watching. Thanks for subscribing.
Stay positive, dream big and we will see you again soon.
Goodnight Pawdience!
