AI GeneratedA comprehensive guide to dining on the Gold Coast, Australia, exploring a variety of eateries from casual burger joints and dessert bars to upscale Greek seafood and fusion cuisine. The review covers locations in Surfers Paradise, Sanctuary Cove, and Miami, evaluating food quality, pricing, and atmosphere to provide recommendations for visitors.
Oh man. The Gold Coast has plenty to offer when it comes to food. I tried my best to find some
great spots to eat at with some great new experiences that have good food and also
some dishes to stay away from. From casual dining to some places that are slightly on the fancier
side as well as desserts and a food market. These are some top food spots to eat at while at the
Gold Coast in Australia. Starting off with some more casual dining we have Betty's Burgers which
is one of our usual go-to spots in Surfers Paradise. They have never let me down. We
ordered two burgers, two chips, a side of fried pickles and drinks. As usual Tanya and I will get
a burger and half it. I'll give my wife her half. So we got a double cheeseburger patty with extra
pickles and onions. That's amazing. Beef, nice, clean, juicy, succulent. Guys next up,
I am not a vegetarian. I need meat but this is the one occasion where I will make that exception
and that is for Betty's Burgers mushroom patty burger. The mushroom patty is mixed
with three different types of cheeses and it's absolutely succulent and it melts in your mouth.
Gets a little bit messy but it's worth it.
All right all done with Betty's Burgers. In total we spent $69 for two burgers, two chips,
one side and two large drinks. Right next to Betty's you have Yochi. There are a couple
stores located in Surfers Paradise. Whichever one you go to you will love it. Yochi has a
self-service model where you line up and fill up your own cup with whatever flavored frozen yogurt
and you top it up how you like. For the purpose of this video I used my wife's creation because
it looked way more appealing. Freckles. It's so good. I might try the strawberry one.
And that's my monstrosity of a Frankenstein. I tried my best to enjoy it for the video.
All right come on down from Yochi. So I've got a bit of the chocolate soy,
the cinnamon soy, some freckles, cookie dough and the strawberry mochi in one bite.
So the frozen yogurt flavors that I got was salted butterscotch I believe it was and chocolate.
That was a diabetes in a bite. So good. I'm not a sweet tooth but I do love frozen yogurt.
All of this you guys cost me $14.75 I think it was and basically comes down to weight.
The more ingredients, the more frozen yogurt you put, the more you pay. That's it.
Another place to dine at is Alfresco Italian in Surfers Paradise.
Tonight's dining option is at Alfresco Italian restaurant.
This place gets packed so you guys need to get in with a reservation ASAP.
So tonight we were able to secure something for just after 8. We're here with the family.
This place gets really packed like it's it's crazy how packed this place is. First entree
of today or actually the only entree for today is the crumbed camembert. So
camembert cut up into pieces, crumbed fried side salad and chili plum sauce.
Oh that's so pillowy. See that?
That's so soft and gooey and the chili plum sauce is amazing. I'm so glad we got this entree.
All right I'm looking forward to mains.
And the mains have arrived. We've got the ricotta spinach ravioli with some prawns,
baby octopus and some mussels in a olive oil garlic sauce. We've also got a I think it's
called a Siciliana risotto. So it's a vegetarian dish. It's got eggplant in this and sun-dried
tomatoes. We're gonna do a bite where oh it's also got calamari. We're gonna do a bite where
we get the ravioli, the octopus and I'm gonna add a mussel in there too.
See that garlicky oil goodness.
Nice. I think the mussels overcooked. A bit too chewy. The garlic oil was fantastic. Baby
octopus is cooked great. Haven't tried the prawn yet. Let me see that.
Prawn is not overcooked. It's good. Just the mussels overcooked.
Next. Let me give this a go. I think that's a good bite there.
Flavor's good. I just I don't think the risotto is
risotto is slightly under slightly under but risotto is very hard to get perfect to be honest
but in terms of flavor profile and the fact that it's a vegetarian dish an eggplant dish
I loved it. It's actually very nice. Flavor's great. So now gotta keep eating.
All right so one entree, two mains and alfresco, three drinks. I ordered two. Tanya ordered one.
Cost us $120. The feed was actually not bad at all and the food was quite tasty. Certain things
were slightly overcooked like except in the risotto it was slightly undercooked but all in all the
flavor was okay. It was actually pretty good. We enjoyed it. Alfresco is fairly popular too.
It's a nice family friendly, sorry not hotel, it's a nice family friendly restaurant.
And then you have one of the best Thai restaurants that I have been to in Australia
called Coco Hut. This is located in Surfers Paradise. I think almost anyone and everyone
will know or have heard of Coco Hut. This place is always so packed and I would suggest making
a booking in advance or risk having to wait for a table. My wife and I ordered the Pad Thai,
the Tom Yum noodles and we also got the wontons. All right guys so we're gonna start off with our
entree which is the Coco Larb Wonton. I think I said that correctly. It's basically larb spices.
I don't know what the heck larb spices are but it's got chicken mince in there. We're
gonna try this out yeah. I'm gonna just quickly dip it in the sauce that it came with. Give me
one sec. All right here we go.
It doesn't seem to be that flavorful though. It's got a bit of a
yeah I mean I don't know what to say. Next up
we got this Tom Yum soup, noodle soup with the egg noodles as you can see here.
Yep with an egg and it comes with fried chicken. Let's try the broth.
Oh yeah that broth is beautiful. The coconut milk, fantastic.
The chili, amazing. We got medium chili or a medium spice level. That's pretty hot though.
I think I could have handled the high heat level. Let's give it a go. We're gonna grab
let me grab a small piece of chicken so that I can eat it. Let's try the chicken.
That's beautiful. I think that's chicken thigh.
Man that's so soft. Honestly that broth is phenomenal. I'm actually so glad that I got
this. Now next up we're gonna try the Pad Thai. My wife has been craving Pad Thai for a while
and we haven't had Thai food in a long time. So we're like you know
Coco Hut in surface is actually known to be amazing. So we were like let's give it a go.
Now we usually always get the chicken Pad Thai and we get extra sauce on it.
It's just glistening right now from that sauce.
Can you see that? Nice and steamy. All right let's give it a go.
That flavor is amazing. So just wrapped up from Coco Hut.
All in all it was fantastic. The Tom Yum, noodle soup and the Pad Thai were amazing.
The only downfall was the entree. It was a bit bland but in terms of cost-wise it wasn't too
bad considering the fact that the portions were massive. So with our two mains, the one entree
and the two Coke Zeros that we got about 66 dollars. Relatively cheap. And tonight is at
Cuckoo Lounge Bar Teppanyaki. Our next stop was Cuckoo Lounge Bar Teppanyaki located in
Surfers Paradise as well and is actually quite popular. So we thought we would try it out as a
new experience. The chef tries to put on a show for you. I did speed it up a little bit.
For those who don't know Teppanyaki is where they basically
cook at a hot plate in front of you as part of the experience.
Here we go.
We're gonna start with the squid. The squid dipped it in some seafood sauce.
Wow.
We've also got some barramundi. Dipping that in the seafood sauce.
Oh that's crazy. Next up we've got the scallops.
Dipped in that seafood sauce right there.
That's amazing. Not overcooked. Cooked just right. Nice, soft, succulent. Now we're gonna also try
the Wagyu. So we're gonna get some of the wasabi as he recommended.
Let's take a bite.
The fat rendered perfectly. It's amazing.
They put some fried garlic on it. Oh fantastic.
What do we dip this in? The sesame? Ginger. All right we got some teriyaki
chicken as well. Dipping that in the ginger sauce as per his recommendation.
Look at that.
Oh wow. All done from the Teppanyaki from Kuku Teppanyaki Lounge.
Look all in all I think I paid around, let me check my receipts.
All in all I paid about $218. That was for two banquets. So for me and my wife I've also
upgraded to the Wagyu with a marbling score of 7+. And we got two Coke Zeros on top of that as
well. So $218. Look it's not entirely filling but then again I'm Lebanese so nothing fills me except
big quantities. But look we did experience Teppanyaki for the first time. We did enjoy
that experience and the food was quite flavorful as well. It's an experience that I would definitely
do again. Especially when you're in a group. The kids loved it as well. The chef or I don't know
what they called but the guy who's cooking the food behind the hot plate. It's very entertaining.
He even accommodates for the children as well. The kids loved him. But yeah that's Kuku Teppanyaki
Lounge Bar and Surfers Paradise. And for dessert we got Creamy Italiano. Creamy Italiano served
Italian gelato and ice cream. All right perfect. So Creamy Italiano. I got a scoop of the creme
brulee ice cream. Guys it is very very creamy and it's already started to melt. But it tastes sensational.
Oh yeah that's so good. The creme brulee even has the you know the sugar on the top where they
you know solidify and you crack it. They got pieces of it in there. It's just very sweet.
All right casual dining for today at George's Paragon Pizza Wine Bar at Sanctuary Cove I believe
it is. This is another casual place to eat at with the family. It is a bit further out from
Surfers Paradise but it is good to get out and explore more parts of the Gold Coast. This is
pizza made by Greeks. First and foremost we're going to start with the Margherita
as the appetizer just to get us started. Get our stomach nice and warm.
There you go. Can you see that clearly?
It's good. Nice. Satisfies the craving. Keep in mind it's not Italian wood-fired pizza.
So there's this guy called George. He's Greek. He has three different restaurants right next to
each other at Sanctuary Cove and the locals love him. Margherita is beautiful. Next up we got the
pesto polo pizza. Basically has a tomato base with a pesto sauce and pesto marinated chicken.
A bit bland. I'm not gonna lie. It is a bit bland but the main attraction
is the lamb pizza. What do they call that here? It's called the Greek.
So we have Greeks making Italian food and naming it Greek. All right so this is the
Greek there. So you got lamb, you got tzatziki, you got cheese. Greek pizza. I actually do enjoy it.
The tzatziki with the, I think I'm saying that correctly right, with the lamb is perfect.
The best camera in the world. Honestly the best.
Oh good on him. That's a bit intense. He's trying to drag you into it huh?
All right so just finished up from George's Pizza Wine Bar.
Look all in all it does satisfy the cravings especially after a long day
at a theme park. Like we just came back from Dreamworld and came straight here and we were
starving. The pizzas were nice. They were satisfactory but the lamb and chicken are
halal but of course do your own research. Is it the best pizza I've ever had? No but it does satisfy
the cravings. I ordered one large and two regular pizzas and it came to about 69 dollars along with
two Coke Zeros. All right and that's it for tonight. And tonight's dinner is at George's
Paragon. It's a seafood restaurant so it's basically the same owner of the pizza and
wine bar that I recorded a couple of days ago or previously. So it gives off like
you know Santorini vibes essentially. You got your blue and white all over.
So this is the outdoor area. We booked down dinner for pretty late to be honest for eight
o'clock at night so it's closed. The outdoor area is closed for now but if you come early enough
you can book your dinner. It's happening out here and it's right on the wharf at Sanctuary Cove
and the Gold Coast. Now they do specialize in seafood but their menu does also include pasta.
I don't have other traditional dishes like moussaka. This is the inside area. It's quite
nice. All right back to the table. All right so we finally got our entrees. We got the Prawn Paragon.
We got the Tarama Salata which is like a red caviar mousse with some pita bread. Firstly we're
gonna start with our Tarama Salata which is the red caviar mousse. I'm gonna get a nice
good portion in there. See that nice and clear. Oh yeah. Oh I love it man.
And we also have yellowfin tuna sashimi. We've got nice fresh yellowfin tuna.
The yellowfin tuna is amazing. It's so fresh. I'll give that a go and it's and they're thick
slices as well. All right next up we're gonna try the Prawn Paragon. The Prawn Paragon
comes with the cocktail sauce. All right let's take a bite. Oh yeah man that's incredible and
the prawn is so fresh as well. And next up we've got the vegetable moussaka. So it's layered with
eggplant, potato and of course you've got the bechamel on the cheese. You got a side salad there.
Yeah I think I believe it was called the skandali. So it's the it's a barramundi
fish with prawns and a cream garlic sauce on top and of course the alcohol was not added into the
sauce and you got a side of fries. We went a bit more traditional this time. We saw moussaka.
I hope I'm pronouncing that correctly and I thought you know why not. My wife loves
eggplant by the way. I am not a fan of eggplant but you know what let's try new things. It looks
like a bit of mush on the fork but I'm sure it'll go down well. The bechamel sauce is a bit bland.
Probably use a bit more um a bit more flavor but the potato is cooked really well. The eggplant as
well. I don't mind it. It's pretty good because I'm usually not a fan of eggplant but I'm eating
this fine. Next up we've got the skandali. I was actually really looking forward to this.
I'll squeeze some of the lemon onto the seafood.
Lemony. What we're going to do we're going to get all in one bite. I've got a good bite
of the the barramundi and the prawn with the garlic sauce.
Perfect. Prawn is not overcooked. Very good. Barramundi is not overcooked. Very good. The cream
sauce is very nice as well but I would say that it needs a bit more garlic okay. Very nice. It is
very nice but it just needs a bit more garlic I would say. That's just a level in me. All right
and to end the night the waiter managed to convince me to get the creme brulee which is
apparently very popular here. As I'm looking into it it's not curdled. So creamy. It's actually
really really good. The custard is nice and smooth. That's a bit of cream there. They've
added a bit of vanilla ice cream and berries on the side but all I cared about is the creme brulee.
I gotta admit it's a pretty decent creme brulee. I would have liked the sugar layer on top to be
a little bit thicker and maybe burn just a little bit more but look it's pretty good. All right so
we've just finished our dinner. All in all my wife and I got three entrees. We got two mains
and two drinks as well. The drinks were non-alcoholic mocktails and our portion of
the bill came to $163.50. Our favorites were the entrees. Guys this is George's Paragon
Seafood at the Sanctuary Cove in the Gold Coast. All right it's just another morning in Surfers.
We're here on Chevron Island in Surfers Paradise. We are at Dip Crow. Dip Crow pastry is another
favorite for my wife and I. They make amazing croissants. The savory options are not halal
unfortunately so we stuck purely to the sweet stuff. They have plenty of different flavors
and are always baked fresh. They have a couple stores on the Gold Coast and of course we also
grabbed two cups of coffee. They use Campos coffee beans here. All right so Dip Crow in
Surfers Paradise on Chevron Island. Now these savory options are not halal and they did tell us
that the savory options like the mushroom and cheese croissant for example could potentially
have cross-contamination with the bacon. So we thought we'd just play it a bit safe and we just
go down the sweet path. So we got the caramelized bacon croissant and we've also got the apple
crumble croissant as well. I'm going to cut it in half so that Tanya can also eat while I do this.
That's the filling there. Nice and flaky.
Oh wow. That's so good. It's so flaky on the outside, super soft on the inside.
It's got like a cream cheese topping on top. It's so nice.
All right I'm gonna cut into the apple. That apple crumble croissant. It's like super flaky.
Oh let me try this. Oh yeah I love the crumble. It's kind of got like it's got the apple
filling on the inside. That's insane. Oh no.
It's all right. Let's take a bite.
Oh my god. That's so good. Like a bit of like a custardy pie filling on the inside.
You've got the apple filling with the cinnamon and then of course you've got the crumble on top.
Crunchy, flaky on the outside and super soft and flavorful on the inside.
This is actually my favorite.
Anything apple? Sign me up for it. Apple crumble, apple tart, apple pie, apple crumble tart croissant.
This is so good. Oh I look like a cake addict. All right guys we just finished up. So we got
two dessert croissants, a bottle of water. All of that came to $26.50. Not too bad. It might be a
bit on the pricier side for the croissants but hey it's good. It's worth it and I would definitely
recommend anybody to come to Dipco in Surfers Paradise. They've got two locations. One in
Surfers Paradise and one in Main Beach. Another first time experience for us was at Birdcage.
This is a restaurant located at Main Beach which is not too far from Surfers Paradise.
Their food was Asian European fusion and honestly it was amazing and is probably one of my favorites
on this list. All right you guys here at Birdcage. This is something we've found online and we wanted
to try something a bit different and get out of Surfers. It's a restaurant located at Main Beach.
We've got the roll-up. It's called a roll-up on the menu. It's basically
confit duck, Szechuan pancake, spring onion, cucumber, plum, sriracha. Over here we got the
beef carpaccio which is paper thin angus, citrus soy, wasabi, aioli, caper berries along with truffle
oil and then last we've got the scallop in the shell. It's seed scallop with potato cream,
salsa verde and parmesan crumb and it looks incredible. I'm going to start with the roll-up
which is the confit duck. Perfect. All right here we go. It's called the roll-up on their menu.
Confit duck and it's got plum sriracha sauce and it looks, it smells amazing.
Wow. Oh my god. That's so good. Wow.
Guys that flavor just smacks you in the face. I love duck so much.
That plum sriracha sauce, I'm telling you that's an incredible, incredible
sauce to have with duck.
Got the scallop here.
I poured a bit of lemon on it.
Oh my god. That flavor is amazing. With the potato.
Guys this was so nice. Look I cleaned it. I cleaned just the shell. What I'm going to try
now is the beef carpaccio. So it's got the wasabi, aioli, it's got truffle oil and it's got capers.
Look at that. I put a few pieces because it's paper thin angus.
Oh man. It's a bit lighter on the flavors but they work very well together. The capers with
the truffle oil, that wasabi, aioli works very well. And the beef, it just tears apart in your
mouth. Very tender. It's beautiful. It's beautiful. Very fresh. Entrees are my favorite thing.
What we've done, we've essentially ordered four entrees and one main.
We feel like we enjoy our entrees far more than the mains. But the fourth entree that we ordered
is going to come out at the same time as the mains because it does take a bit longer to prepare.
Alright guys, mains have arrived and we're actually very excited. So first up we're going
to have a mushroom lasagna and we've also got the, it's called, it's a baked brie. It's in a
phyllo pastry. There's caramelized apples, there's toasted szechuan honey and there's pistachio.
Starting off here with the phyllo, with the baked brie sorry. Like I said, so that's the caramelized
apple there. You got the szechuan honey drizzled all over it with the pistachio and then here we've
got the mushroom lasagna. Oh wow. Oh wow, look at that. Is that good? Oh no, we're in trouble.
Man, that's a bit sweet but it works. Man, that apple with the honey and the cheese.
Babe, that's amazing. Now, mushroom lasagna time. Look at that.
You're hit with an instant truffle flavour.
The moment you take a bite, that truffle kicks right in. That truffle flavour is so prominent.
I love truffles so much. Guys, and that's a wrap. I think we cleaned up pretty well.
My favourite dish of the day was the duck at the beginning in that little wrap. The immense flavour
that came from that entree was incredible. We had the four entrees, one main and two
non-alcoholic cocktails which were $16 each. In total, the bill was $183. I would definitely
recommend anybody who comes to Surfers Paradise to kind of take a little detour but come to Main
Beach. There's a lot of restaurants here as well. Bird Cage is located at Main Beach. I'll say six
to ten minute drive give or take depending on where you're staying in Surfers Paradise but
it was about six minutes from my hotel. And the final place on this list is Miami Marquetta
which is located in Miami, about a 15 to 20 minutes drive from Surfers Paradise. Again,
this is another first-time experience for us. We wanted a good food market with plenty of options
and Google recommended we come here. There were plenty of stalls. That's really good.
Oh nice, fresh out the oven. Foods from all different kinds of cultures. There were halal
and vegetarian options too. This is what Australian food culture is all about. The
only problem here is not knowing where to start. All right, we're here at the Miami Marquetta. So,
the Miami food market. We've got the Karachi chicken rice bowl. We've got a fried snapper
bao and we've also got beef tacos, beef and bean tacos. All of these options are halal.
So, it's beef tacos. These guys are actually on the halal list
in Queensland. It's a pretty loaded taco.
All right, I'm gonna put some sour cream on it and also some guac.
Guys, the taco was extremely flavorful. The meat seasoned so well.
In there, they've put a bit of, look, there are some unorthodox ingredients. Like,
I think she had corn in there. I don't usually see corn and there's also rocket
in a taco. But at the end of the day, still tastes good and it's halal, which I was very happy.
Next up, I've got the Karachi chicken rice bowl.
That chicken is so tender. Pretty sure it's chicken thigh.
The chicken is so tender, so juicy, so flavorful. I love Karachi chicken.
Next up, we're going for that bao. Look at that. I don't know how the heck I'm
gonna fit this in my mouth. The snapper bao. So, it's got your lettuce, it's got coleslaw,
vegan mayo, and coconut sriracha.
Okay, look, the coconut sriracha has great flavor. The bao is actually incredibly soft.
The biggest downfall of this is, I think the fried snapper could be more seasoned.
It needs a bit more flavor. But otherwise, look, it's okay.
We got paella and makeka. I think it's called makeka.
Is it? I don't know.
M-A-K-E-K-A. And we've also got gyros.
This is the seafood makeka. So, we got fish, tapioca flour for texture. You got some small
prawns here. And there's a bed of rice underneath. And then you've also got like a,
they've made like a vegetarian option, kind of like a mushroom paella. And then we've also got
gyros. Now, of course, this isn't the traditional way for them to be able to serve it. But I asked
them to cut it in half so that my wife and I can share it. Okay, we're gonna start with the makeka.
Wow. So, the makeka, I think I'm pronouncing it correct. I hope I am.
Like I said, it's got the rice underneath, the tomato, the prawn. There's coconut cream
from what we can taste and turmeric. That's amazing.
Next up, we're gonna try the mushroom one. They've drizzled a bit of vegan aioli on top.
Oh, and there's onion in there too.
That's so nice. Very nice. Honestly, I just love mushroom so much.
We're gonna go for the gyros now. All right. So, it's packed with lamb, with chips.
You got your tomato, tzatziki. Let's take a big bite.
That's a good amount of sauce. It's loaded with tzatziki. Loaded. The lamb, beautifully cooked.
Oh, yeah. It's so tender. After all the food, it was time for dessert. I was really stuffed,
so I only got two different things. Oh, guys, I'm stuffed. I ate so much, but
it's a food market. We need to do it. Next up, we got a, they call it a gelato.
So, it's a churro gelato sandwich. Right there. Man, that churro is hot.
Oh, good.
The churro is a bit too crunchy. It's not soft enough, but the flavor's there.
And I've got pistachio ice cream in the middle. Now, the next thing is a pistachio cookie.
I've got to give that a try. That's like a lot. Let me break that down. Wow.
So, it's got pistachio. It's just in the cookie. It's actually got, from what I can see,
I think it's got chocolate pieces in there. It's got some pistachio,
actual pistachio nut pieces in there, too. You got pistachio spread and the chocolate sauce.
I can't talk. It's so dense. When you add the chocolate sauce and the pistachio,
I can't even talk. And the pistachio spread or pistachio cream.
It is a bit full on for me, but a lot of people would love this, but it's not my cup of tea.
I like the fact that they catered to halal. There were a few places that had halal options or
vegetarian options, but the everyday person realistically isn't going to be getting as
much food as I did today. The standouts for me were the food from the Brazilian stand at Samba,
which is basically the paella kind of food, and also the churro sandwich, the churro ice cream
sandwich. That one was top. My only thing about the churro ice cream sandwich was it was all
crunchy, which is fine, but it needed to be a bit softer on the inside. Other than that,
it was fantastic, you guys. This is Miami Marqueta in Miami on the Gold Coast. We just wanted to try
something different outside of surfers. I would definitely suggest anybody who comes to the Gold
Coast to give this place a try. Thank you for watching my video, you guys. If you can please
help my channel grow by liking and subscribing, and please share with your family and friends.
Thank you.
