Welcome back to Mike Eats and today we're on Cabramatta Road and Cabramatta West in Sydney's
western suburbs and we're going to Cook-A-Burger. I think that's how you pronounce the name or
Cook-A-Burger or whatever it is. This place has got 135 reviews and 4.8 stars and it is supposedly
the cheapest fish and chips in Sydney or maybe in New South Wales. I've never seen fish and
chips this cheap in a long time. It's $10 for serving of fish and chips and the fish is fresh
not frozen believe it or not. It's fresh fish and they batter it in front of you as you can see here.
So this is not a frozen piece of fish that they have dragged out of the freezer and just thrown
in the oil. They also do a $7.50 hamburger or $11 for burger with the lot which is very very cheap
especially for 2026. Now we're back in the car and this serving is huge. I expected to get a small
mini serving of fish and chips. This is a massive tray. I'll show you what I got for $10.
This is what you get for $10. A heap of chips and a massive freshly battered piece of fish
that looks absolutely amazing. I can't wait to get stuck into this. Now I opted for chicken
salt on everything and I got the lemon and this was $10 and I ended up getting a tartare sauce
which I think was one or two dollars extra. I can't remember. I didn't really check but I got
a tartare sauce as well but this was $10. Okay let's try a couple chips first. There we go.
Wow they taste like old school chips. This is how chips used to taste. Now that place also had the
$1 potato scallops as well. I didn't get any because I think I've got enough here
but they did have $1 potato scallops and these chips are really good. I believe these are actually
cooked in lard or something else. They're not cooked in vegetable or seed oil which
makes a hell of a difference to the taste. These taste like old school chips like chips are supposed
to taste. I think most people have forgotten what chips used to taste like. They think what they
get served now in most of these takeaway shops is how it's supposed to taste. It's not. They're full
of seed oils and poisons. This tastes like proper chips. It's like going back to the 1980s. Let's
open up the tartare sauce and see if that's any good and then we'll get stuck into the star of
the show, the fish. Tartare sauce is good. Nothing wrong with that. It's actually really good. I like
it. Now that is the piece of fish I got. Just put it next to my head for size comparison and I've
got a big head. I've been told I've got a big head. That's what she said. Oh it's so hot. Let's snap
this in half. Have a look at that. The batter is so light and crispy. I can't believe that. I can't
believe this was $10. That fish is absolutely delicious. It doesn't even need sauce or
anything on it. Normally I must have tartare sauce on fish. This one, I love it. This is so good.
Oh look at that. I haven't even put lemon on this and you can definitely taste the freshness
and you can definitely taste the different oil that they used to cook it in. It's got some sort
of seasoning in the batter. I don't know what it is but with that seasoning you don't need anything
else on it. I am going to put a little bit of lemon on it now. I was going to title this video
the cheapest fish and chips in Sydney but now I'm thinking should I title it the best fish and chips
that I've ever eaten because seriously I think it is. I'm not even exaggerating this. I'm not even
kidding. This place needs to get a million customers. I mean they probably couldn't handle a
million customers. They probably couldn't handle a thousand customers but if you're in the area
around here do yourself a favor and try this fish and chips. Absolutely amazing. The price is only
$10. I can't believe this. So let's give this a score. Value for money for takeaway fish and chips
has got to be the best value for money around so I'll give it a 10 out of 10. You are not going to
find anything cheaper at a remotely similar quality to what this is. Like you can't go to
McDonald's or KFC or Hungry Jack's and get anything for $10 where you get a whole meal that you're
going to struggle to finish here for $10. So value for money I'll give it a 10 and for taste I'll
give it a nine and a half out of 10. Absolutely love it. Now if you've ever been to that place
leave a comment down below. Let me know what your experience was. Also let me know if you've tried
the hamburger. Is it worthwhile grabbing a hamburger next time I'm in the area and doing a
review on that. Maybe we will do the $11 works burger next time I come out this way. In the
meantime if you enjoyed today's video do me a favor give me a big thumbs up and don't forget
to smash that subscribe button for more videos from Mike Eats. Thanks for watching and bye for now.
I'm going to enjoy the rest of this and then start heading home.
