Thousands of soccer fans gather in White Plains for FIFA World Cup quarter final matches watch party

The World Cup tournament is heating up and the party is going strong in White Plains. The downtown area has been transformed into a giant block party in honor of the upcoming games. News 12's Carol Wilkinson is bringing us along for all the excitement. It's definitely a crowd of thousands here on Marmarinek Avenue in White Plains and the main thing bringing them all together, the love of soccer. Emotions are running high Saturday evening on Marmarinek Avenue. It's the White Plains Soccer Fest block party and thousands of fans have their eyes fixed on two jumbo screens where the FIFA World Cup quarterfinal matches are playing. I think it's amazing and I think it brings everybody together and it's super cool and I wish I knew about it beforehand but this is awesome. I think this event is great. I think it brings a great community out. I think people are happy to come together and have a great time and be out in this beautiful weather especially now that the clouds have disappeared so I'm very happy. The event is not only filled with fun and entertainment, there's also a positive economic impact for the businesses nearby. We had a very bad January, February and March because of the weather, the economy and inflation, gas prices so it's great to see people out again spending money. And Justin DiIorio says although he's not necessarily a soccer fan, he could easily become one. It seems like a good crowd, everyone's coming together, celebrating, it seems like there's a big sense of community. And whether you're a diehard soccer fan or not, there is something for everyone at this wonderful festival here in downtown White Plains. In White Plains, Westchester County, Carol Wilkinson, News 12.
