So I think as we kind of do on these major championship recaps,
we kind of work through the story of the day from your perspective.
So I think we got to begin with Cam Young teeing off at just five
five minutes past noon local time, two hours and 15 minutes
before the leaders goes out in twenty nine.
You're originally with the Siwoo Kim and Ryan Girard group.
You get pulled over to follow Cam, take him in as he's moving up
the leaderboard, makes birdies.
We never actually never even teed off Siwoo and Girard.
I went straight straight away to Cam.
Yeah, so he makes birdie at the par five.
17th gets to 10 under finds a fair that tee shot.
An 18 finds a fairway bunker there, says in his press conference
after he tried to open up a six iron wide open to to hit it out of there.
Tries to take it on.
Ricochets off the lip.
The right is third finds a greenside bunker, almost holes out
that bunker shot for an unbelievable par, but ends up making the first bogey
of the day for a 64 and post nine under a little after 4 p.m.
local. So starting there, like talk to us about what it was like taking him in.
And then at that point, do you think there's any chance in your mind
that nine under is going to hold up as a winning score?
I did not.
I did not think neither was going to hold, but it didn't take long for me
to think that he might just win this thing out, right?
Only took probably about 30, 40 minutes
because Siwoo Kim was at 10 under par.
You didn't know if the tournament was in his hands at the time.
You felt like the leaders, especially Sam Burns and Fox,
felt like they were going to make birdies of the par fives.
There's still plenty of other guys in the mix.
What can you finish this round?
But it was probably the most difficult day of the week,
and it was mainly because of the wind conditions.
I felt like the wind was a little stronger and more consistent.
And just think about it to the golf course.
It received four days of similar
dry conditions, windy.
So by the end of the week, you'd have to expect that
at some point the golf course is going to, you know, just remain tougher.
And if you get some tough hole locations and especially in the back nine,
they kept on putting hole locations with on the on the short side
of where the wind is. Right.
So think about the right hole location at 11.
You think about the right hole location at the 14th,
the right hole location at the 16th.
These were really, really difficult golf shots,
especially to try to hold.
People don't understand like how difficult it is to hold a 15 mile an hour
breeze at the Open Championship.
It is a like to make the ball fly straight.
It's a 10 to 12 yard fade in normal conditions
to make the ball actually curve to the right.
You probably need to fade it about 18 to 20 yards.
And when you do that, you add spin.
So what happens there is that you lose distance.
So a 150 yard shot, like, for instance, I'll give you examples.
See, we can at 16 had that number and try to just fade a seven iron at 150.
It still came up short.
It's just what guys are not accustomed to with how heavy the wind is here.
And that's why I think the scores were so high because of all the crosswinds
that they had out in this northwest wind throughout the entire week.
Very few holes ran up and back as far as the wind goes with the compass.
So it it just made it really challenging for guys to to really hit it close.
Now, we saw plenty of it on the front nine, but the back nine
seemed to be the more typical one to find birdies coming home.
