All right, I have an important storm watch update for you on this Tuesday
evening. The storm we've been tracking in Nassau County in western Suffolk,
northwestern Suffolk at that a little bit earlier, still strong but is not
severe warned any longer. That said, still these areas over towards a port
Jeff quorum, Middle Island, Calvert in Riverhead between now and around six
o'clock and get hit hard by still some gusty wind. There can still be 30 to 40
mile per hour wind gusts with this storm, even though it is not severe
warned on top of torrential downpours near zero visibility when it's coming
through and even some dangerous lightning as well. So I'm gonna keep
tracking that storm for you and have updates. There's still a flash flood
warning for this area that had the storm earlier. There's not much going
on in this area now, but what you have to watch out for still over the next
couple of hours until 7 30 or so until this warning expires is that chance for
still standing areas of water from the earlier storm that did move through
should weaken more along the north shore there in Suffolk County as it
moves a bit more east. My concern is that there's still more active weather
back off to the west of Long Island and that could start to impact the south
shore as we head towards the mid evening hours as well. Stay with us
right here. Our news 12 Long Island for important updates on all of that. And
there's still a tornado watch, not a warning, but a watch for Nassau County
until nine o'clock, which means that any strong thunderstorms that come
through could have some rotation and produce a tornado in the low end
chance for it, but still a chance that that can happen. So tornado watch for
Nassau County until nine o'clock. Most of any wind damage will be straight
line wind damage on top of that dangerous, frequent lightning, some
small hail and also the chance for those flooding downpours will be
possible with any storm and important to note here too. Not everyone is going
to get these strong thunderstorms where they occur. They could really have
some impact this evening. I do think before 10 o'clock this evening we're
noticing big improvement. So tonight scattered rain and thunderstorms will
end around or before 10 o'clock than mostly cloudy and kind of warm and
muggy overnight. Can't rule out a spotty shower thunderstorm on Wednesday.
A lot of the day is dry with temperatures in the upper seventies to
low eighties. After that beautiful stretch of weather thursday through the
weekend ahead of a few showers late monday into Tuesday.
