But first at four, officials working around the clock to count every single ballot in the 2026
primary election. Another round of results expected to drop around six tonight. And some
of the November matchups have been set, but there are a number of big races that have still not been
called, and that includes Congressional District 1. Republicans and Democrats battling to replace
David Schweikert, who ran for governor and lost in the primary last night. Jay Feeley has secured
the Republican nomination in CD1, but his challenger has not been determined.
Where things stand right now, Dr. Amish Shah is leading the primary over Marlene Golan
by about 4,000 votes. Also, the hotly contested Republican race for superintendent of public
instruction. Arizona Treasurer, whose term limited, Kimberly Yee, has a sizable lead over
the incumbent school chief, Tom Horn. The winner will move on to face Democrat Teresa Leiby Ruse.
And here are some of the races that you will see come November. Congressman Andy Biggs won the
Republican nomination for Arizona governor in a landslide. Actually, his race was called really
quickly last night, just after eight o'clock. He'll face incumbent Governor Katie Hobbs in the
general election in November. Another race we're watching closely tonight, Congressional District
5, left vacant by Andy Biggs. Mark Lamb declared the winner over Daniel Keenan, despite sexual
misconduct allegations against the former Pinal County Sheriff. He will be facing Elizabeth Lee,
who won on the Democratic side in that district. Republican primary voters selected state
representative Alex Colliden to challenge Democrat incumbent Secretary of State Adrienne Fontes this
November. Colliden is an attorney who led legal challenges on the 2020 election and won court
victories enforcing stricter ID rules for early voting. In an interview today on Fox 10 Talks,
Fontes took a swing at Colliden about his positions.
And the record is pretty clear. He hates voting by mail. He hates the fact that you vote by mail,
and he wants to force you to stand in line. That's not the guy you want to be your Secretary of State.
And Colliden also went after Fontes today in a statement. He writes in part, quote,
this victory shows that Arizonans are sick and tired of Adrienne Fontes's mismanagement
of our election system and that they're ready for world-class elections that Democrats,
Republicans and independents can be proud of, end quote.
