It's rolling.
Brady Rogers, Jacoby Simmons here at St. John Fisher University Bills Training Camp.
My man, Ian Wheeler, the Howard University legend.
Ian, what's good, man?
What's going on?
How y'all doing?
Absolutely.
So I'm looking at the logo on the helmet, bro, and I'm like, it looks a little familiar,
brother.
Does that ever go through your mind?
This is meant to be.
Yeah, no, definitely.
We've got a couple of those around the building, a couple of old jerseys and stuff with the
same logo.
So it's live.
It's definitely cool being here.
So I asked Coach Brady this morning about you and just what you bring to the team and
the depth in the running back room, and he said 100 miles per hour.
He also described you as quiet, which I wasn't shocked by that.
But just talk about your energy and what you bring to the practice field and to the team,
the energy, because, yeah, I mean, that's you.
100 miles per hour, always going through a brick wall.
Definitely a lot of speed, definitely a lot of effort.
Just right now, I'm trying to get a bearing on the playbook and just trying to get a little
bit better every day.
And I think I've done that so far.
I've been getting a little bit better throughout the day.
So, yeah.
So at Howard, you earned a reputation.
You told me they called you Book Man.
Somebody that was always in the books reading.
How does that help you to stay locked in, to learn this playbook, coming into this new
situation, transitioning to a new team?
I know it's a lot.
Yeah, it's challenging.
But obviously, like, this is my job.
So that's all that I have to really focus on.
So it's been good.
It's been good.
Obviously, they're just throwing everything at me at one time.
Training camp is when you put in pretty much everything.
So that's been an adjustment.
But I've been in it.
I've been in my book every day, just getting better and making sure I really know the plays
in and out.
Coming off a UFO championship, this team, the Bills, they are a championship contending
team.
So just what can you offer to your teammates to help get you guys to that next level here
in the NFL?
I guess experience.
Yeah, I guess experience.
Experience and then obviously just being, like, steady.
I feel like a lot of times, the difference between a championship team and a team that,
like, is just contending is they kind of go through the ups and downs too much instead
of doing what you need them to do.
So just being steady and just showing up as myself every day.
For sure.
Now, I saw you practicing today on special teams.
I feel like you excelled at that in school.
Now, how can you, you know, utilize that opportunity to get on the field more and get more opportunities?
And how much effort are you putting into it?
Today, you look good.
Got to put a lot of effort into those scenes.
Like, if you're not the number one back, you got to play special teams.
So I'm just trying to show Coach Rodgers I know what I'm doing and that I'm going to
give my effort every time I get the opportunity to.
Tomorrow, first scrimmage.
Yeah.
Highmark Stadium.
The fans are super excited about the new stadium.
Are you feeling that energy?
And where are you at in terms of your excitement level for that first scrimmage tomorrow?
I'm not exactly excited.
I'm ready to go.
I'm ready to play.
Obviously, to us, it's just another practice.
So just going out there and just doing my best.
If I do that, I'll be straight.
My brother, congratulations.
Expectations are high.
You know, of course, we're rooting for you.
And just any last words you want to share about what you expect for yourself this upcoming season?
You've got a great opportunity right in front of you.
Expectations?
No, I don't have any.
I'm just trying to, like, I know I keep saying the same thing over and over again.
I'm just trying to be a little bit better than the day before.
I think I'll handle myself if I do that.
As I said, congrats.
Good luck.
