Bruins Trade Incoming... Report Reveals HUGE Update | Boston Bruins News
Aug 17, 2026
Boston Bruins answer at center may already be in the NHL on the Calgary Flames.
Reports have emerged surrounding Morgan Frost and what his fit would be with this Boston
Bruins team.
On the first line, David Pochnerok and newly acquired JJ Paterka.
We're going to be breaking it down in this video, going over where things currently stand
on a Morgan Frost deal, his potential out of Calgary and how the Bruins have to be number
one on the case in this scenario and why this is a much bigger thing than what it just
may seem like for this season.
Folks, we have a lot to break down here in today's video.

I appreciate all your guys' support.
You guys are absolutely killing it, but I want to get straight into this because we
know the center position for the Boston Bruins has been the biggest question really in this
offseason.
You see this article right here being headlined by the Bruins may have their top line center
sitting in Calgary and Morgan Frost is someone that I have kind of loved all offseason long,
even throughout his entire NHL career, but especially in this offseason for really any
team looking to acquire him because I think that he has something that is not useful for
Calgary, but useful for just about all other 31 teams in the NHL and look at this and what
they say about Morgan Frost.
Unfortunately, there is no real elite top line pivot on the market at this moment.
You can consider Dylan Larkin, but that isn't a bit of a standstill where we currently stand.
While there could be down the line for now, the Bruins will need to look around a bit
more closely to see if they do and if they could find their top line center sitting in
Calgary.
That center is Morgan Frost.
Do you know what ruins a great outfit really fast?
An old beat up belt that doesn't fit right.

Now, when you look at Morgan Frost, you're probably wondering why he is such a kind of
a hot commodity, I guess we can call it at this point in his career and why in this season
in specific and we know that with the Bruins, with what we've seen from Don Sweeney, Ken
Neely towards the end of the season, their year-end press conference, they said that
the center position needs to be addressed and it's fair to say right now that it has
not been whatsoever and the Bruins are still looking.
I think there's a lot of positivity surrounding that because when we look at the Bruins as
a team right now, that is their biggest weakness by far is the center position.
You cannot have and I will stand firm on this, you cannot have Elias Lindholm as a number
one center.
At this point in his career, you just can't and when you look at someone like Morgan Frost,
someone who over 82 games last season had 43 points, one of the best seasons in his
career, 22 goals, 21 assists, 57% on the faceoff dot, he is a person that when you look at
his ability on the ice and what he can provide is exactly what the Bruins could use as a
27-year-old in a number one center role even.
I know that's kind of crazy to say putting it off the back foot but if you look at what
he's done with Calgary, keep in mind, Calgary's not a good team.
They were not a good team last year and having someone who at 27 years old put up 43 points,
82 games and kind of pulled that down over the past couple of seasons between Calgary
and between Philadelphia, he's a guy that I really like to give the opportunity to.
You know, I mean, 43 points this most recent season, you go back between Calgary and Philadelphia
when he was traded, 37 points, 41 points, 46 points, I mean, he stood pretty still at
that.
Keep in mind, Philadelphia wasn't great back then either, the Flames weren't great the
past couple of years.
He is someone that has really yet to show his talent on a good team, let alone a good
pairing and in specific, between J.J.
Paterka and David Poshnok, I would absolutely love to see that and on top of what he can
provide on a line like that, I think also the big thing that comes into it is his contract.
The end of the season, last year was the first year of his deal, now going on to a new contract
and he's going to be a UFA after this season ends, currently on a $4.3 million contract.
There's a lot of question marks surrounding what would happen to his new contract, what
it would look like, where it would be if he hit the market and if he does hit the market,
which I think is pretty likely if he does remain in Calgary, there is a, you know, pretty
significant chance that when you look at his next contract, it will still be a steal regardless
of what it is because of the market, the way it's gone over the past couple of weeks and
really even months at this point.
You look at the cost that it would take to acquire him via trade, comparing that to what
an extension could look like in Boston if traded, you would really get a steal here
and I mean, when you look at what at least the projected contract looks like according
to AFP Analytics, four years by $6.3 million and I mean, that right there, for someone
like Morgan Frost who, you know, even at his current level would exactly be fine, there's
no other way I think that you could put it because of how the market's going up, I feel
like $6.3 million for four years is something that you will absolutely take right now at
this point knowing that the prices have, you know, skyrocketed to up to like $18.8 million
for Max Monsalabrini.
So, considering the contract side of things, but also what it would literally cost to get
him in a trade, you see this here from the article continuing on, like, Map Watchers
might be an intriguing option, RFA could do with a change of scenery, could get a chance
to the top 6 forward there rather than, you know, be the bottom 6 or still AHL time with
the Providence Bruins.
A couple picks, you know, the Bruins have exactly what it takes to get things done regardless
of who it is at this point and I think Morgan Frost may be a kind of a sneaky cheap option
in terms of contract but also trade value that this team can seriously take advantage
of and I mean, we know the Bruins are not in any trouble when it comes down to their
cap space, their cap space is fine, their trade value that they have willing to ship
out is completely fine and I mean, even this year, $5.3 million right now going into 2027-2028,
$3.5 million, $34 million, $35 million, excuse me, in 2027-2028, in 2028-2029, $54 million,
but I think the big thing that you really have to consider is who is going to be a UFA
after this season?
I mean, you're losing middle stat, Zaka, Sean Corrales, Mikey Aisman, you know, presumably
if you do not sign them to any extensions or they do not get extended by this team,
you're losing out on three possible centers, two of which who are already playing the center
and that's not even counting what we may see with Pavel Zaka in a trade, so there's a lot
of things the Bruins need to consider here but I feel like when we're considering, at
least right now, Morgan Frost as an option, I absolutely love it, especially considering
him as a number one center, maybe Fraser Minton as a center two, Elias Lindholm as a center
three, you know, there's a lot of things the Bruins could do to play around with this and
make the structure work, but they have an open spot for it, so, you know, there really
is no, uh, kind of soft thoughts there on that, so folks, let me know what you think
down below about Morgan Frost when it comes down to the availability of him and also what
you think his fit on the Bruins would look like, but I do want to kind of clue this video
up with this kind of topic here from Mark Allred, uh, this was yesterday, a tweet from
yesterday, so, I mean, at this point, August 15th, the Bruins lost the signing rights to
Oskar Jellbeck based on Langenbrenner and Phillips' fedback, pretty interesting to see
because you know that a lot of prospects are going to be looking at this as, uh, you know,
what would happen if I'm in the Bruins organization, and I hope this doesn't take into effect because
obviously, I think Oskar Jellbeck was someone that I would have been kind of okay with seeing
in the Bruins, but based on Langenbrenner and Phillips' fedback, you really didn't have
a spot on this team, especially after Jamie Langenbrenner got let go, so folks, let me
know what you think about that as well, but that is all I have here on this one, if you
did enjoy, give it a like, hit the sub button as well, I am signing out, thank you for watching,
hope you have a great day, see you later.
