Trade Talks HEATING UP... Report Reveals SHOCKING Trade Update | Red Wings News
Oct 28, 2026
Trade talks are really starting to heat up between
the Detroit Red Wings and multiple teams around the league
as a new report has linked Dylan Larkin to two new teams.
But not only that, we have a major update
on Simon Edvinson's contract stalemate
as that heads towards a trade resolution as well.
And I would be remiss if I did
not mention how well the Red Wings are playing
despite all this turmoil and missing one of their best defensemen.
We're going to break that all down
and much more in this episode of Red Wings Digest.
but guys before we jump into all of that the new news reports rumors
and all the rest a quick

will keep you updated every single day
but let's get right into it dylan larkin draws interest
from the Buffalo Sabres now
so in a brand new report this morning and guys this is a doozy
there's a lot of new stuff here this morning you can see
that the Buffalo Sabres have interest in
dylan larkin now we know the Buffalo Sabres had interest
in and missed out on Connor Hellebuyck
but they still want to upgrade in different areas of the ice as well
and have had conversations with
the Detroit Red Wings a few hurdles would need to be cleared
and odds may be low but it's not
zero percent now what those odds are and what
those hurdles are are no movement clauses and
no trade clauses will Dylan Larkin be open
to going there will some of the players they need
to get off their books be willing to go
to other teams one really good trade chip here if you were
to send Dylan Larkin to the Buffalo Sabres
is Ryan McLeod I think that he would be a really really
good piece coming back the other way
and a guy that's moved slowly down their lineup but it's
still very useful has a ton of speed can
be a pretty good asset for this organization as one
of the NHL players that they want in return for Dylan Larkin
because they want two prospects they
want some center depth they want some NHL players
and of course a first round pick that is what has
been reported that the Red Wings are looking
for and of course Dylan Larkin comes with some security
for whoever's acquiring him 8.7 million dollars until 2030-31
so it does come with some security
Now, Elliotte Friedman, and we talked about this yesterday
on the channel, revealed that when those fans were saying,
we want Larkin in Montreal, I think it absolutely moved the needle,
but it's not at the point right now where I'm saying yes to Larkin
and Montreal, and of course, Larkin would have to okay that.
Montreal is obviously in Canada. It's not looking very likely.
speaking of not very likely we have another brand new report
from Pierre LeBrun outlining I haven't
heard any connection between the Tampa Bay Lightning
and the Detroit Red Wings including
Dylan Larkin in trade talk
so we heard that Tampa Bay was on his list and that they might be
interested but apparently there's really
no trade talks going on between the two teams and by the
way Tampa Bay Lightning they still need
to re-sign Nikita Kucherov I don't think this is in the cards
for them but I have been uh wrong before
but uh I don't think it's Tampa Bay I think that it's
probably at this point the Minnesota Wild
so let me know in the comments what you make of these new
reports on Dylan Larkin now i want to get
to something that is even more frustrating for most
Red Wings fans right now which is Simon Edvinson
and the trade talks around him are really really
starting to pick up now folks and this is getting a little bit scary
because i predicted that this
would end in a trade but that doesn't mean that i want
this to end in a trade and it also doesn't
mean that Red Wings fans want this to end in a trade
because nobody wants that everybody wants
them to keep this guy and to pay him what he's worth
but from Elliot Friedman I think that one
thing that is starting to move a bit on uh the weekend uh
and it hadn't changed in terms of
Edvinsson is his willingness to sign there I think Detroit
is starting to look around the talks there
are really starting to pick up some multiple teams
and we heard this over the weekend multiple teams
are calling on Simon Edvinsson
and the Red Wings want to get him signed to their number by the way
keep that in mind they want to sign him oh we have
no interest in trading him but we want him to sign
to what we want right that internal cap that we've
been talking about they want him for less than
most cider that doesn't exist
in this world anymore ever since Leo Carlsson signed that
offer sheet now from Elliot Friedman as well I think there's
a lot of interest in Simon Edvinsson
they're asking a high price
but i think the talks there have really started to pick up so again a
lot of teams are calling we heard Philadelphia
we heard Toronto's in the mix you can see with
Edvinsson they're a great team without Edvinsson
so far this season uh or last season excuse me
when he was out of the lineup three five
and two i think they're a better team which is saying
something by the way because they're not playing
that bad this year they're a better team with him
in the lineup he's a good defenseman he's
a top pairing defenseman he can play with most cider
there's something to be said about players
that can play with other skilled players and look good
doing it and Simon Edvinsson is that is that pay
the man his money pay him what he's worth
Bob Stoffer also believes that the Utah Mammoth have checked
in and would prefer to add d simon
Edvinsson instead of Dylan Larkin in a trade with the Red Wings
and we heard that the utah mammoth
and the detroit red wings are in trade talks
as well just a couple days ago so there is definitely
a lot heating up around Dylan Larkin Simon Edvinsson
and you know a couple teams around
the league now again Simon Edvinsson if you lose
this guy i know you're playing somewhat well
already this season it would be so dumb to lose
a 23 year old defenseman like this it would be so
stupid it really would be like you should
be so fired up rip-roaring mad about this you you really
should be because it's dumb it's dumb
and the the wheels are just going to keep on turning right
no matter what player it is if the player gets
traded you lose them free agency whatever the
wheels are going to keep keep rolling the team's going
to continue it's a dumb thing this is dumb
this is really stupid that it's even gotten
to this point the red wings allowed it to get to
this point it's it's malpractice it's awful it's
just it's it's frustrating now Simon Edvinsson I
mean we've talked about this ad nauseam he's he's great man he draws
a lot of penalties um he also
you know takes some penalties too
but um you know he's a fantastic young player in this league and
you can see from the comment section
as well you know penny pinching on Simon Edvinsson the Red
Wings number two defenseman and now he's
so unhappy he wants to be signed and it's doubtful
to sign Dylan Larkin wants to be traded what
are we doing here what are we doing here and and it's
a toxic culture that's being brewed by Chris Ilitch
and you can make the argument that once
they're gone the team can just focus on hockey
but what are we doing here he's trying to get
Simon Edvinsson signed for like five million
dollars less than what he's worth on the market
it's absolutely insane now in trade talks right now
the Red Wings we've heard are targeting young
centers in trade returns in both scenarios
so whether it's Dylan Larkin or Simon Edvinsson
it's both of them you can see it's very clear
that they are looking at young centers i think
it's the case for Simon Edvinsson too
so in both trade returns they're looking for young centers
that can make an impact and of course that was from Elliot Friedman
and uh again this whole
situation these trade reports just frustrating right
and they're looking for center help right
now they got Finnley as a second line center you
still have Kop you still have JT Compher uh you
know all of that as well as well
but it's it's frustrating right so we learned last week that
young centers emerged as what they wanted
in uh trade talks from Darren Dreger from Elliot
Friedman as well uh and then now it seems like they want
that in both trade scenarios so they're
going to trade a defenseman and they might get
a center out of it and then they're going to trade
Dylan Larkin they're going to get a center out
of it are you going to improve on defense at all do
you need to improve on defense uh you beat
the Edmonton Oilers last night I still think you
could use a defenseman back there now I would
be remiss if I did not mention how well this team
is playing the last little
while I want to bring in the box score from last night Mo Sider played
half the game and i know that this game went to overtime
and a shootout he played 30 minutes
Dylan Larkin also played a lot of minutes like there's
a lot of guys logging a lot of minutes
man but Mo Seider played half the game this guy's
an animal he shut down Connor McDavid on multiple
chances there that was a good win they're continuing
to build some character here and
you know Todd McLellan spoke out after the game too
and said that again they're building some
character gutsy win and despite all
the turmoil they're they're just building something in that
room and uh there's a lot of guys like MBN we're gonna
do a full video on MBN he's been fantastic
he's been fantastic he's hitting everything that moves
and he's putting the puck in the back of the
net or setting up plays you can see Todd McLellan he said we have
been a pretty resilient group for
most of the season and we saw it again tonight
so they win that game i again i would be remiss if i
didn't bring it up they've been playing pretty well Michael Pastor makes
his NHL debut his starting
debut i guess he got into that game against
the Vancouver Canucks a couple uh days ago he looks
really good he gets the win in this one guys let me know
in the comments how you feel about this
team as a whole let me know how you feel about
these new trade reports is dylan larkin going
to buffalo all of a sudden is simon edvinson going
to philadelphia there is a lot going on
here and by the way simon edvinson you know what team he should play
for the detroit red wings so
very frustrating times right now
for red wings fans guys let me know how you feel in the comments
below about everything we discussed today dylan larkin trade
the simon edvinson trade saga if you
want to call it that and the team is actually performing quite well
