It is outside. When you tell us that there is delicious Hawaiian Filipino food available,
Allie and I are going to leave the comfort of the air conditioning and come out here to eat.
We are food trucking at Fox 13. We have Aloha Pinoy and we have the owners right here,
Mark King and his daughter Vivian. And Vivian runs the show, so I'm told. Is that true? You're the
boss? That's true. Yes. It's 16, right? Yes. All right. So you said, I don't need to go to school,
Dad. I'm going to run your food truck operation. Or do you do this after school?
I do this mostly after school, but sometimes I have to get pulled out of school for this.
She's working hard. How about that? Yeah, she is. And mom is actually off camera,
but she was putting all this incredible food out here. Have we ever had this much food on
display before? I don't know, but I've never seen such colorful, picturesque food. Like,
this is beautiful. Get the camera off me. Look at the food. Look at the food. Look at this thing.
What's this over here, Mark? That is the Big Kahuna Burger. Okay. What's it got there? Some
pineapple, obviously. Yeah, double smash burger. It's got Hawaiian sauce and teriyaki glaze. It's
just like the one from Pulp Fiction. So we just Googled it, whatever's on the Big Kahuna, and we
placed it on there. It's a double patty. I want to eat that bad boy. There's something with an
egg on it back here, too. Yeah, that's your favorite. Yeah, that's the Loco Moco Bowl.
I like to make it because I think it's delicious. It's my favorite. It's full of flavor,
and it's pretty easy to make. It's a smash burger on top of a bed of jasmine rice,
and then it's smothered with an aloha gravy and topped with an over easy egg. Can you guys tell
me where you get all these flavors from? Because there's such a variety on your menu, and you do
all of this out of the truck. Well, a lot of the Philippine came from my wife over there.
So she's hiding in the background. She's camera shy. And then I was in Hawaii. I was a massage
therapist out there for a few years, and so then I brought some of the ohana, some of the love,
the onolicious food from Hawaii. It looks so beautiful, and all these flowers, the Hawaiian
flowers, but they're not edible, correct? No. So I shouldn't eat them, but they're not edible.
Okay. You could eat them. They won't kill you. You could, but we don't recommend.
It's just such a beautiful display. What is this purple dessert looking thing?
That is an ube cheesecake. Oh my gosh. What should we try first, Sally?
Can I go here? What is this, you guys? Is this a lo mein of some sort?
That's the pancit bowl that we have, and those are the lumpia egg rolls.
Okay. Cheers. Lumpia?
Lumpia. It's a staple. It's like a Philippine egg roll.
Dip it in that sauce. I bet that sauce is good. All right. I'm going in.
Yeah. It's an Asian dish. This is delicious. There's so much variety here.
So again, you spent some time in Hawaii. I know you have some thoughts right now for the people
back on the islands now that are dealing with that storm, and you're really honoring them by
letting us all enjoy the food for those of us not fortunate enough to travel out there.
That's right. Bring some of the food over to us to share the Hawaiian and Philippine
love and traditions, the food. There's not that many Asian trucks out this way,
and we also do karaoke. I love that.
Wait. Is this hooked up now? Are we going to sing some karaoke?
Well, we could. I didn't bring the speakers and mic, but we can bring it. We can definitely
bring it next time. Allie, what would be an appropriate song choice for a day like this
if we were doing karaoke? Something about it being extremely hot,
but I mean, thinking Hawaiian, I want to do Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
Okay. Okay. That sounds good. Yeah. Do you want to try some?
I think I would do Ring of Fire because it's so blazing hot out here. I want to eat this burger.
Please, I'm dying to eat this burger. The key is to not move too much,
and then you won't be that hot. It's so much better here in the shade.
Allie's been standing over there in the hot seat. All right. Let's get in on this burger here.
So while Chris is getting in on this burger, can you guys tell me just a little bit about
what it's like working together as a family and running this truck together?
Is it fun working with dad? Yes. It's really fun working with dad and helping out.
I don't even mind getting pulled out of school occasionally just to help.
It's really not that much of a deal for me since I can just do the homework at home.
It seems like it'd be a lot of fun, Mark. Yeah. I enjoy the spend time with my daughters,
and I don't see her much during the week because she's in school.
Right. And so I like spending some time with her on the weekends when we go out on the trucks,
and we also do private parties too. So we do catering as well.
How was it? It's so good.
It's so good. Delicious?
Yeah. It's sweet. Pineapple, obviously, the teriyaki sauce.
Amazing. Big kahuna.
I'm a big fan. That's awesome.
Well, tell everybody where they can find you.
Yeah. So we do a lot of events with the Salsa Queen.
So you look her up at salsaqueen.com. She's got some events coming up.
And then this weekend we'll be at Mega Market. Mega Market had an event down in Tampa.
It's a lighting of the Asian boats, the Asian lanterns on the boats
at Coachman Park Friday through Sunday.
All right. Mark and Vivian, thank you so much.
They are Aloha Panoi, and we're back right after this.
Thank you. So good.
