A family enjoys a day of exploration in Dorset, combining a scenic boat cruise from Swanage to Poole Harbour with a nostalgic steam train journey to Corfe Castle. The trip concludes with a lavish seafood feast at a restaurant in Southbourne, highlighting the local attractions and culinary experiences of the Jurassic Coast.
After breaking down we got back to Dorset without any problems.
The next morning the kids were looking bored so we slipped into Poole Harbour
and went for a cruise up Poole Quay. Whilst cruising we saw city cruises
and had an idea, why don't we go on a train ride
and a cruise. That's Amari, that's Vanessa, that's Ava,
that's me and that's Chris. We're the family
Travelling a million miles in our boat car. We hope you enjoy our journey.
Right guys so we've reached the pier in Swanage and we're going on this boat.
When you go to Poole we're going to quickly get off, show you what's around
there, jump back in the boat and fly back before
we carry on. So let's go, let's do it. You often see dolphins on the trip but
for us it was a no-show.
I'm just going to give you guys a bird's eye view or captain's view shall I say
of what you see from the helm. We could see Poole
in the distance and it looked very busy.
Right this is the bit, this is the bit guys where Captain James needs to
concentrate. There's a lot going on and this is very familiar with
Columbus this area. So as he attacks the boat and gets it on
the side there. So people waiting eagerly. That's some
skill guys.
You can't see this really downstairs. It's even got the old telephone, radio phone
there. So yeah that's an original sailor VHF
set. Oh brilliant.
We had to take some photos before heading back.
Right guys so we are in Poole. We've arrived at Poole Harbour on the
boat and this morning we had a little bit of
a nightmare. We got to the parking lot, the car parking spaces and we
had no change. So I lost my card, couldn't use my card,
didn't have enough change and a passerby actually lent us
two pounds. So if you are watching our video
thank you and hi. Thank you so much otherwise we wouldn't have been able to
do this. So we are in Poole now. It is extremely busy.
We've gone for a little walk along the promenade. We're going to jump back on
the boat. Obviously Jurassic Coast tour and
we're going to carry on back to Swanage. But yeah we're here at
Poole Harbour. Loads of bikes here. This is where all the bikers
normally chill out. Normally loads of them along here
because I think these guys are going to be leaving soon.
Wow look at that. Come then guys let's get back and we need to get back on this
Nice bikes. Lovely bike. You guys here for the day?
Yeah. Yeah. Brilliant. You always come down?
Yeah. Oh brilliant. Love the bikes though.
Looking lovely. Have a lovely day. Thank you. You too.
Take care. Bye. I know. Wow. Come on let's go.
Right I think they're waiting for us.
Poole is very busy today guys. Very very busy.
It's fantastic. It's good to see people about.
Going to local amenities. There's loads of bars and
places to eat out. You've got the Quay there. You've got Orioles there. You've
got the Jolly Sailor there. There's lots to do. Right so
we've done our journey to Poole. We're going to be going back to Swanage on the
and then we're going to be exploring a bit when we come back. The
journey has been amazing hasn't it? It has.
Yeah so the guys are fantastic. They've been a really great day.
The kids are loving it and we're going to check out the bar area when we go back
and see what's in store down there. So yeah.
What do you think guys? You ready? Great. Are you ready?
Evelisse are you ready? You ready? Are you ready? Right let's go. Right let's go.
Adios. Vergara con Santos.
See you all later.
Right so we're off and that's it. It's been a fantastic trip.
You've seen how busy it is in Poole. The harbour is just
heaving with people. So yeah and the kids I think
really enjoyed it. Daddy said I can have one of you glasses because
so you can give me your pin.
I've been annoying cats in drains and stairs.
Apparently they've got me frowned as a plank getting stuck outside later on
when we get to the shark area. You enjoyed it guys?
A little mini cruise. Yeah it's brilliant.
It's brilliant and um Mari came to the wheelhouse as well.
Had a look at it. You like it man? Yeah these windows are really nice aren't they?
Uh we're in the bottom lounge. It's a bit quiet on the way back which is great.
It's given us a bit of a chance to show you um...
Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday dear Steve.
Happy birthday to you.
Give him a big hand.
Give Steve a big hand.
Bowler's train.
He's laughing.
Yeah you as well.
The Swanage Railway opened in May 1885 now operated as Heritage Railway.
After the boat trip with City Cruises we got on the railway at Swanage
and went on a return trip to Corfe Castle. When we got on the train it was
very busy so we had to stand up and wait. Whilst the train was moving we
hung our heads outside of the carriage windows
just to smell the steam. Whilst the debris from the locomotive hit our faces
we noticed along the route that the campsites were getting busier.
We arrived at Herman's Cross and waved goodbye to the train levers and the
noticeable train spotters. We were getting off at Corfe Castle.
Have you ever been?
When you come to Swanage you cannot not go on a steam train and also do a boat cruise
across Swanage so yeah no it's 10 out of 10 for today.
After leaving City Cruises we headed back to Poole absolutely starving.
We didn't know where to go but a little birdie perched on our car
and we remembered there was a fish restaurant that we drove past earlier
in Southbourne so we went to check them out. We've arrived
into a fish restaurant yeah which is next door
smack next door to the wine bar and this restaurant is where we're going to be
having food yeah and I've been told some of the finest
food and fish you can eat. It smells amazing up here. You walk in and the aromas are like ahhh.
Yeah look what I have, I have a claw.
He's actually got claws exactly, we haven't.
It's like an outside area which is very warm isn't it?
It's lovely though. Yeah which is good because it gives a feeling that you are
outside somewhere really hot. In Tenerife. Could be in Tenerife, Spain.
So you've got nice things going on, flowers on the wall. The food
is out. Are you saying like it's an EP?
The food is out and it looks absolutely scrumptious.
Cannot wait to tuck into it. The kids cannot wait to tuck into it.
Chris got coloured outside. We've got a lot of fans and
people out there colouring us. So I had to go get him
because he talks a lot. But anyway the food's out, it's looking
absolutely scrumptious. Just looking at it, the colours, oh my god you want to eat
it without even eating it really.
I mean just check that out.
It's amazing, look at him.
Look at the kids, the girls. Oh my god and then we've got chunky chips
to go with it. Chunky, chunky, chunky chips.
So without further ado. We need to. I think we need to tuck in. Definitely,
I don't want to say I'm quite speechless.
I wasn't expecting all this, I really wasn't. I was just expecting the crab
and maybe some salad. But we've got tiger prawns, we've got
shrimps, we've got a dressed crab and I think it's Cornish?
Cornish, Cornish, Cornish. I think
depends where the food comes from, depends on availability.
So yeah it's Cornish. Oh it's scrumptious.
I mean I can't wait. So I'm just coming here for the first
time. The vibe of the place, I just knew
it was going to be good and so we're going to tuck in
and taste it and let you know. Oh we know it's going to be nice.
You can see it's going to be nice. But yeah we will let you know.
Oh you've got you've got one with yours, okay.
Our fans don't want yours, they want these. They want the fresh ones.
These are what they're after. It's like your ones.
Mmm nice.
Look at the crab. It's really nice isn't it?
Mmm mine's got claws.
Do you know I cannot believe that this child is still eating.
I really can't. He's had a whole plate of shellfish. Shellfish?
I thought I said that wrong then. Selfish. No not selfish.
Shellfish. He's had a shellfish bowl and he's still eating. He's had
bread, he's had chips, he's had starter and he's still eating. Look at him.
It's unbelievable. Where does he get the appetite from?
It's clearly not me.
So we've had a meal inside Summer Fish Restaurant.
It was amazing. We're going to check out the bar, show what it's like.
It's actually getting really busy now so we're going to go and have a look.
Relaxing and there's no one here. We're here now and it's quite busy.
It's such a nice atmosphere. Right guys that's how you serve wine.
The orange is really really nice. As you know
I love orange juices. And I love my wine.
Cheers.
