AI GeneratedEvan discusses the offensive line's performance and the team's rushing success following a game against Boston College. He emphasizes the trust between the staff and the O-line, the integration of new starters, and the effectiveness of their ground game, which allowed multiple running backs to find success.
Evan, feel good to know that staff puts the trust in you to run it
as many times as you guys did today? Yeah, we ran it a ton, but with an O-line like we have,
you definitely got to trust us up front, but it definitely feels good that they trust us,
and we're definitely piling that rock today. It was very successful, so
probably keep doing that in the future. You guys are the king of the pancakes now. Do we
have the pancake total already or not that good? We'll have that on Monday when we go through and
the next interview you ask me, I'll give you a number. Can this be an every day or every game
occurrence? Yeah, definitely expect us to give our all each and every play. We're definitely
going to try to put guys on their back every play. Had that penalty from kind of piling on the guys,
is that kind of tough because it seems like that's how your mentality on the offensive line is,
is to finish as many blocks as possible? Yeah, it's just unfortunate. I might have
a little too much in the moment knowing the game scenario and stuff like that,
but I was just out there playing long and caught up in the moment, so it just happened,
but it won't happen again. Over 200 yards today, and last season this group was one of the best
in the country as far as the offensive line. How close do you feel the offensive line is already?
Yeah, it definitely wasn't a perfect game by any means. We definitely have a lot of stuff to
improve on. Like Harlow said, you see the biggest improvement from week one and week two in the
O-line. You're going to see a big improvement from this week to next week. We definitely have
a lot of things we need to work on, and we definitely aren't perfect up front, but we're
definitely going to try to be as close as we can to perfect next week. You, Tanner, and Joe are
obviously a known quantity. What did you think of Judea and Lozo for their first start? Yes,
I've seen them play a lot of football, being twos last year and all-off season this year,
but I think they did a great job on that right side, being two new guys together. They didn't
play too much ball together, so they're still developing that connection, but I think they did
really, really well. We let up the one-pressure, one-tack today, and that was the only time they
got close to J.C., so yeah, I think they did a really good job. They held their own, definitely,
and they're going to be great ballplayers for this league. A lot of unknowns coming into this game
with all the new players that Boston College brought in. What were the adjustments made
throughout the game for you guys to really start getting going as the second half wore on?
Yeah, with a team like that, you really kind of have no clue what they're going to do. We kind
of prepared what they showed in the past, so that's kind of what we prepared for. They showed
some different stuff when we got out there, and we were a really talented group, so we kind of
adjusted on the fly and did our best to adjust calls and adjust different plays to what they
were doing, and I feel like we did a pretty decent job. Started off a little slow, but we got it
a little bit more towards the end. You guys averaged roughly about six yards per carry.
What were you guys seeing on the offensive front to where it kind of poked those holes for the
running backs to have the success that they had today? Yeah, it was really just moving those front
four. Made a little bit of a bear three down, but we was really moving those front D linemen,
just trying to cover up linebackers with a lot of inside zone, kind of what was working today,
so yeah, just doing that and just moving those front guys, giving the running back time and space
to make the cuts that they see fit. And obviously, how cool was it to see Jibran kind of have that
moment after everything he's been through? 14 carries, 100 A yards, what do you think of his
performance today? Yeah, he did a phenomenal job, but definitely some of the counters he broke
real big, so it was definitely exciting to see that all four of our great running backs seeing
all of them break out a couple runs, so we knew we had that talent in that room. We were just
pretty excited to see that in game. What kind of luxury is it that Cole didn't get the ball for a
while, and then he comes in and rips off two runs real quick. Could you tell, like you're seeing a
defense that's wearing down a little bit, and because you guys have the four backs, you can
keep throwing the fresh legs at them? Yeah, Cole did a fantastic job. He's definitely a selfless
player. He came in, wasn't mad about how many carries he was getting. He came in and did a
phenomenal job, but he busted off a great run that wasn't perfect on the whole line aspect,
but made us look good by busting that out, breaking a couple tackles, and just going for a
big run. He runs hard, but he's definitely a really selfless guy. We're really glad we
can have him in a running back-to-back, so yeah, just excited to keep seeing all these guys.
