This Report is INSANE...|Timberwolves Offseason Update...
Sep 10, 2026
So today we begin with this report is insane.
Timberwolves off season update today.
We take a look at the Ben Simmons opportunity in the Boston Celtics, jail
and Brown deal that actually involved Rudy go bear, I guess, ultimately did
Minnesota Timberwolves president Tim Connolly ultimately make the right
no deal decisions on both of those.
Welcome back to the Timberwolves digest as always North America.
I'm Dave Debaugh and I bring you the latest Minnesota Timberwolves news trade
reports, trade rumors, and of course, a whole lot of commentary on today's show.
We're going to take a close look at the jail and Brown deal as well.
And I'm going to ask you all a question about Rudy go bear.
But before we dive into that, was this the right move?
Not actually signing good old Ben Simmons to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Please go ahead and drop your comments in.
I want to know what your thoughts and opinions are.
Now we'll talk more about that in just a little bit, but I did want to mention
that we've got some new reporting today on what happened with jail and Brown and
what the Timberwolves were ultimately going to have to give up, which in my
opinion was too much, which actually leads me to the next image I'm going to
show you all, which is a picture of Rodney Dangerfield, Rudy go bear, where
I asked the question is Rudy, the Rodney Dangerfield of the NBA.
I want to know what your thoughts and opinions are.
I swear, Rudy go bear is just like Rodney Dangerfield.
He gets absolutely no respect.
Drop your comments in.
And if you are new to the Timberwolves digest, please go ahead and subscribe.
And of course I always like to say, if you like the pod, well, then go ahead
and like the pod, so we're going to talk more about jail and Brown in just a
little bit, but I did want to wrap up the whole Ben Simmons potential deal to
the Minnesota Timberwolves with this following statement, which is simply to
say, wait and see, I think Tim Connolly absolutely made the right decision, not
actually fully going through with a Ben Simmons deal at this point.
I think we should just simply wait and see which Ben Simmons actually shows up
in Sacramento because before the NBA trading deadline goes down, if the
Timberwolves really did like what we're seeing out of Ben Simmons in Sacramento.
Then a decision to bring Ben Simmons to the Timberwolves would make sense, but
I like the idea of actually waiting and seeing now in terms of jail and Brown,
we've talked a lot about jail and Brown in the past and what the Timberwolves
were actually thinking about when it came to actually bringing jail and
Brown into the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Now we have a new report that just came out.
I just showed you part of it.
What Boston ultimately wanted in return was substantial.
The Celtics wanted Rudy and Nas, and it was going to be just too high a price
to pay said drawn John Krasinski.
I absolutely agree that giving up Rudy would have been too much for the
Timberwolves.
Rudy provides a layer of comfort for this Minnesota Timberwolves team.
Now, if they were able to actually do what they ended up doing and not give up
Rudy Gobert, well, then that's a different story.
Look, I'd love to get your thoughts and opinions on that.
Please go ahead and drop them in.
We're going to talk more about Rudy and more about jailing in just a little
bit.
So do you all know what actually ruins a great outfit?
Well, the answer to that question is an old beat up belt that quite frankly,
hasn't fit right in years.
That's why I'm super excited today to have Anson belt and buckle as the
sponsor of today's video.
Instead of holes, Anson uses a micro adjustable track system with quarter
inch increments.
So your belt fits perfectly every single time.
And I am telling you right now, once you experience that kind of fit and
comfort, trust me, you'll never want to go back to wearing a regular belt again.
Now I've been wearing mine nonstop since I got it.
And honestly, it is the best belt that I've actually ever had.
Once you try it, trust me, you'll never go back to your old belts again.
And if you're wondering why you should trust them, well, this is a company
that's still proudly family owned and operated and has earned over 40,000
five-star reviews like this one from Chad M they back their belts with a
lifetime guarantee on functionality.
They stand behind every product they make.
And once you get one, you'll see why.
And because Anson belt and buckle is sponsoring today's video.
When you click the link in the description or scan the QR code to build
a box set, you'll get two bonus pieces, a buckle and a strap completely free.
That's three buckles, three straps, which can be mixed and matched into nine
unique belt combos, all in one box.
It's an exclusive deal.
You won't get anywhere else.
So click the link, build your set and upgrade your belt game today.
So look, ultimately I think the price was too high, uh, considering that the
Timberwolves were going to have to give up Rudy go bear, uh, to bring Jalen Brown
into the team, but, uh, enough of my opinions, I would love to know what
your opinions are on that actual topic.
Do you think that the Timberwolves should have gone ahead and
moved off of Rudy at this point?
Do you think Tim Connolly should have made the move ultimately to move off
of Rudy go bear in order to bring a Jalen Brown on to this team?
I, I personally think the price was too high.
I like the chemistry that we have.
Uh, I like this new look, Minnesota Timberwolves team, which
involves all of these pieces.
And of course, missing from this picture is IO and TJ and a couple
other key ingredients is as well that I think make the Minnesota Timberwolves
at least the third best team entering the season in the Western conference.
I think we're ultimately from a team perspective, we're better than Lakers.
I guess the real question will be, you know, do we have enough firepower and
do we have enough of a strategy from a zigzag Tim Connolly perspective to
ultimately take down San Antonio and, or that other pesky team in the Western
conference, which is pretty good too in OKC drop your comments in, I want to
know what your thoughts and opinions are just to refresh everybody on why I think
Rudy ultimately matters more than a lot of people realize, look, 11 points a game.
He can't shoot free throws.
Uh, 11.5 rebounds per game.
How many people in the national basketball association are going to do that for you?
1.7 assists.
He's a good team player.
We know he doesn't shoot threes.
We do know they still has a free throw shooting problem.
And we also know that there are games in which he'll finish
those with four or five blocks.
Normally averages between one and a half and two blocks per season.
So I think Gobert is a perfect fit for a team like this Minnesota Timberwolves
team that's going to run and gun a lot more this upcoming season, but still
will need the comfort of a Rudy Gobert to provide that baseline defense.
All right.
That's all I've got for you all today on the Timberwolves digest.
Love to know your thoughts and opinions.
Please go ahead and drop them in.
As always for the Timberwolves digest, I'm Dave DeBaw wishing you all a
tremendous rest of your sports viewing day.
