In this English vlog, you’re going to spend some time in the kitchen with me while I cook, talk about my day, and use REAL everyday English.
This isn’t a traditional English lesson. Instead, I want you to practice understanding English naturally and learn vocabulary in context — the way you would hear it in real life.
While we cook together, pay attention to the vocabulary I use for food, ingredients, cooking, my kitchen, and everyday life. Don’t worry if you don’t understand every single word. Just listen, follow along, and enjoy the process.

Hello. Learn English with me while I cook some chicken soup.
If this is your first time here, I teach comprehensible English in real life situations
so you know what a pan, a pot, a ladle, a spatula, rice, chicken, cabbage,
all of that is. I already got my orange juice, but I'm starting to feel a little bit hungry.
It's 11 a.m. right now. I think it's a good time to start cooking lunch. We usually say
make lunch when we don't know if there is going to be any cooking involved, but when we know
we're cooking something, then we can say it's time to cook lunch. Also, I got orange juice
for breakfast because my throat was feeling a little bit sore, and orange juice always helps.
That's why today I want to make some chicken soup because it will definitely help my sore throat.
So guys, I've never actually cooked chicken soup. If you've seen my past videos, I cook
very basic things, and I don't cook very well, if I'm being honest. Usually, my dad always makes
chicken soup for me because I tell him, Dad, please make chicken soup. It's my favorite,
and he makes the best chicken soup. So I texted my dad, and he sent me the ingredients and some
instructions on how to cook it. So I'm going to try and follow those steps as precisely as I can.
We'll see how this turns out. Okay, so I think we start with, obviously, the chicken.
Then, I just got these pots online on Amazon for like $50. I got like five pots. It was so good,
and I put them together and everything. So we're going to use this. Now, I need some water.
My water filter doesn't work. I've been trying to put together this water filter,
put an insert picture here, but it's just really hard. I can't do it. You need to be very strong,
so I've just been letting this water filter sit around. Okay, we'll just use normal water. I'll
boil it, and then I'll put in the chicken. That's okay, right? All right, I filled up my pot with
sink water. Sorry. I think I'll put in some salt so that it boils faster, right?
Okay, let's sprinkle in some salt, and we'll wait for that to boil. I'll put in my chicken,
and then next, the carrots, I think. Okay, so the ingredients are baby carrots,
cabbage. That's way too much cabbage. I ordered this on Walmart, but they gave me a very big
cabbage. I don't think I need this much, but that's okay. I'm gonna put in some purple onion
and some broccoli. So I think I need to wash the cabbage first, but I think you can chop it and
then wash it after, right? We'll do that. So guys, I have cooked a lot of food before. Don't
get me wrong, but I never cooked chicken because my mom was always really scared of chicken and
the bacteria that it has. So now I'm scared of chicken and cooking chicken, and I don't know if
I'm gonna get salmonella or something because I cooked it wrong. So that's why I always...
Meat in general, for me, is just a little bit scary because I don't know if I'm gonna undercook
it or if maybe it has some bacteria and it's gone bad, and then I cook it and I eat it and I can't
tell because it tastes good. So I just get very nervous around meat. That's why this is a big deal.
So I asked chapGBT for instructions on how to cook chicken, and we're gonna do that,
and hopefully I don't get sick. I don't think I will, and it smells fine. So let's cook some
chicken. And then my dad also puts rice in his chicken soup, so that's what we're gonna do
at the end. It's starting to boil. So I think I'm gonna put in the chicken now.
I ordered these tongs today, so we'll use these to put it in.
Okay, so thick. Whoa, so heavy. Okay.
So let me give you guys a little bit of context on why I've never cooked chicken. This is...
I feel like it's very surprising to many of you that I've never cooked chicken before,
but it's because I was vegetarian for a while, and after I would only eat vegetarian meals.
So what would I make? I would make lentils and beans and rice and avocado and chickpeas, and
I would just make a bowl of stuff, and that was amazing for me. I loved that. Every single day,
I would eat that. And even now, I eat tuna with avocado with tostadas or something. Sometimes
lentils, sometimes beans, sometimes rice, but I never ever cook meat, really. So this is the reason
why I'm scared of cooking chicken, because I've never done it. All right, let's chop our cabbage.
We'll do half. Dang, that's a hard cabbage. Okay, half in the fridge,
and we'll chop the other half. You know, I love your guys' comments of you, like, not criticizing,
but giving me tips on what other things to do while I cook. Like the other day,
I think I was scratching the pan with a metal fork. I was, like, cooking with a metal fork
on my pan, and I got a comment, like, you shouldn't do that. Like, that's not good.
And I was like, okay, next time I won't do that then. Those little things, I feel like I never
really learned on my own. I just did them, and, like, nobody really corrected me, you know?
So now I just do them, but I'm glad that you guys tell me, because that helps me then in the future.
Okay, so maybe like this. Yeah. Okay, so next go the baby carrots,
and then we let that cook there for a long time, I think. Should I let the chicken cook
a little more? Yeah, I'll let the chicken cook a little more.
I just want to message my dad, but my phone's recording, so I can't message him. I can't ask
him. Let's see. Okay, um, I think we'll put the cabbage in here for now. The thing is, guys, like,
I don't have any, any, like, um, bowls. I don't have a big bowl. I don't have, um,
I don't really have, like, any big tuppers or anywhere to put, like, my vegetables. So, like,
it's a little frustrating, because I just moved out, like, on my own, and I don't have that many
things yet. So I'm still, like, building up my inventory of the kitchen, and of the bathrooms,
and of my bedroom, and of the living room, and, like, and all of that. So, like, that's why it's,
like, well, I don't have everything yet. Is it okay if I don't wash this? Like,
I don't know if I should wash this. I guess I will. I will wash this. So, here is the chicken.
It's boiling. I think it looks, it looks all right. Now, let's wash our cabbage in the sink.
I think if I just put, like, salt in it, right, won't it, like, wash? Oh, okay.
So, guys, my dad said the carrots go at the same time. So we'll do these two. Oh, sh**. Okay,
carrots are in. Guys, I feel like I look so dumb right now. Like, this is...
I swear I have life skills. I swear I'm good at being an adult. I swear. Okay,
let me show you guys. So, my dad messaged me to put carrots in. I did that. All right,
I think we're good. We'll take a break there, and then I'll come back when it's time.
So, guys, obviously, I moved. This is my new apartment. I'm buying new things, like,
I don't know, a giant bin of soap. You know, my place is a mess, so I just have, like,
stuff everywhere. It was so much worse yesterday, but I took time. I cleaned it up.
It's been very, very busy. That bed stand, I got that bed stand. It's beautiful. It's supposed to,
like, go up on both sides and have a roof so you can, like, hang plants and different things,
but it doesn't fit up the stairwell. So, yeah, that kind of sucks. But other than that, it's
been very exciting. I can't wait to show you guys, like, a house tour. If you guys want that,
tell me in the comments. And yeah, I just got these pans. It's also a mess. You can't see it,
but this right here. You know, I got a whole package of, like, spatulas and little pans,
big pots, just a lot of stuff that I needed for the house. And it's really useful. Like,
so that's how I got this pot here. That's how we got this beauty. Look at the lid. It's beautiful.
Wow. Oh, look at that. I also got this ladle, ladle spoon. So, yeah, I'm excited, very excited.
Guys, one quick question for you. Do you take your shoes off at the entrance? Tell me.
There is a wrong answer and a right answer. Who's this? Do you guys like the killers?
I went to see them with my family. It was really fun. But yeah, I still need to organize my house
and, you know, keep up with a lot of things that I'm that I'm working on, like my English community
that I'm opening for you guys in October again. My Spanish community, of course, that is also a
priority for me so that it's the same thing as the English community, but you can just learn
Spanish in it. And yeah, I'm really excited to show you guys new things. If you're liking this
video, be sure to like and subscribe to learn with me every single week. And if you're interested in
joining my English community when it opens where we speak together, we have daily conversation
clubs three times a day where you can choose to join any club you want with any teacher you want.
Right now we have four teachers that are helping us. And yeah, more than 300 English learners
from all around the world. So you can connect and practice with. It is really truly the best way
to learn to speak English, to start speaking English. I truly believe that. I believe in
my English community. I believe in the beautiful teachers that we have helping us.
And I believe in you guys, in the students that watch me and are motivated and consistent every
single day to practicing and learning English. I'm very proud of you guys. So keep practicing,
keep watching, and never stop learning. If you do like this video, then check out my
Slow English Vlogs playlist because I have so much more content there that I'm sure
you could learn something from. So check that out. It's in the description. And don't just
stop with this video. Keep practicing. If you have time, why not? Maybe you'll learn something
new today. All right, guys. The moment of truth. Sorry, I did a few things without you.
I put in the cabbage and it looks like it's almost ready. So exciting. Look at this. Oh,
dang, sorry. Look at this. Oh, guys. Wow. I'm so proud of myself. I'm so excited to try this.
You know, I got my avocado sliced because I love chicken soup with avocado slices in it.
I need some tortillas, but it's okay. I can use salmon. So, guys, I don't think I've ever
showed you, but these are like the salmas that I get. They're like crispy tortillas.
Really, really good. And they're really healthy. So I always eat these with my avocado bowls.
Yeah, I'm ready to serve myself. You know, chicken soup is one of those dishes that just gets better
with time. So like right now, it's probably it's going to be good, but tomorrow it's going to be
so good. You know, it's one of those dishes that just gets better and better. I don't know why.
I think because it gets like mushier, you know, like more, I don't know, maybe like more flavorful.
Maybe. All right. I have my bowl. Let's do this. I served myself a carrot,
a carrot and some cabbage. We're going to try this.
The soup is good and some cabbage. Oh, yeah, it's definitely it's not ready yet.
We'll give it one more second. All right. It's ready.
Here it is, guys. Yay. The moment of truth.
That's just chicken soup. Amazing. We love chicken soup.
I'm going to let this cool down and then I'm going to sit down and probably
eat. But thank you guys for watching me cook my chicken soup today. OK, so after I have my lunch,
I always clean up after myself. Put this in the trash. I put away the dishes into the sink
and I wash them. So I just used a bowl, a cutting board and a knife. That's it.
Now I just wipe the table with my washcloth. I go around. I get all of the crumbs that I spilled
and I clean them up into my hands and I throw this in the trash. There we go. And voila.
All clean. Just a couple more crumbs, but it's all clean.
All right, guys. Thank you for watching this video. Thank you for joining me while I cook
chicken soup for the first time and chicken for the first time. That was so much fun. I have a
lot of video ideas that I can't wait to make for you guys, especially in this new apartment where
I can be much more creative and I can show you guys a lot more of a variety of situations,
of real life situations that will teach you real life English. Keep practicing your English.
Please don't give up. I'm so happy to read your comments. I was just reading the comments today
of last week's video and it made me so happy that you guys were learning things and you guys just
have fun hanging out with me as well. You guys also like my slow English podcasts, my normal podcast.
But yeah, it's just good to have a balance. All of it is comprehensible input and all of it is
English listening at the end of the day. So no matter what type of video it is,
the important part is the intention. You guys are going in with the intention of learning from that
video. And just by going in with that intention already puts you one step ahead of so many other
people who can't take that first step. So enjoy the journey, guys. And remember, never stop learning.
I'll see you next week. Bye.
