Ukraine is successfully launching strikes against military installations, logistics centers, and fuel infrastructure facilities in Russia, bypassing their defenses. This is possible because Ukraine has the ability to bypass Russian air defenses, including in Moscow, emphasized Mykola Malomuzh, General of the Ukrainian Army and head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, on the FREEDOM television channel .
He emphasized that active operations to destroy Russian rear-area targets, including military installations, missile launchers, and drone launch centers, are ongoing. Strikes are also being carried out against Moscow, which has a multi-layered air defense system. However, he added, Ukrainian forces have learned to systematically distract Russian air defense assets and strike specific targets.
"Moscow is the main center, with three rings of defense. In some places where Putin is located or where important facilities are located, there are four or five. But now we see that, by conducting operations, we are systematically diverting Russian air defense systems and striking specific targets," says Malomuzh. He recalled that this year, several hundred attacks were carried out on logistics centers and factories in the Moscow region alone.
"Four refineries have already suffered powerful blows, and Kapotnya is one of them. This refinery is the central facility for supplying petroleum products to this region," he said, explaining that the Moscow Oil Refinery is crucial for fuel supplies to the region. The general added that the infrastructure located around the capital is linked, in particular, to the Russian military-industrial complex.
He believes that it is becoming more difficult for the Russian air defense system to simultaneously cover all facilities, as the Ukrainian side is using various methods to distract and overload defense assets: "Russia is currently unable to defend these facilities because, through the proper organization of attacks and the diversion of their forces and assets, we have already tested the capabilities of the Russian system. This is the result of our technical and intelligence work, as well as the experience of previous attacks. We already know how to either bypass defense systems or redirect some Russian forces to our diversion drones or other targets."
According to him, Ukraine uses electronic systems that simulate real targets.
"For example, we're launching electronic systems as phantoms. So, there are already concrete successes, and I think this is the result of the work of both intelligence and our unmanned strike forces," said Nikolai Malomuzh.
