Huawei Founder Missing? Insider Says Arrest More Likely Than Escape, Points to Zhang Youxia

Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei and several Huawei executives were summoned dozens of times by the Central Military Commission Discipline Inspection Commission over military procurement, according to Du Wen’s livestream. He says they were questioned, sent home, then called back again.
Du Wen says Ren Zhengfei and fallen CMC Vice Chairman Zhang Youxia were very close. In Huawei’s key growth years, Zhang was extremely generous with development and procurement money. If Huawei asked for 10 billion, Zhang would give 50 billion, Du said.
Ren himself came from the military. Du Wen says Huawei monopolized major PLA communication gear and chips, and even Zhongnanhai’s switchboards were Huawei-made.
He also points to a massive 2026 government and military chip swap. Offices, computers, even air conditioners were switched to domestic chips. The chips used, he says, were Anke chips, not Huawei’s. He treats that as proof Huawei was kicked out of the most sensitive procurement system.
Rumors that Ren’s family fled began spreading online on September 11. Only younger daughter Annabel Yao later appeared in Beijing. Ren Zhengfei and Meng Wanzhou have not come out to deny the rumors. Huawei staff, Du says, are now banned from discussing news about Ren.
Du Wen’s estimate if Ren stays silent: about 90% chance he was arrested, under 10% chance the family fled. He also argues escape would not be simple, because of Huawei’s military ties and the secrets Ren knows.
From those first escape rumors to the expulsion of Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli from the Party and the military, only about ten days passed. That timing, this program argues, makes deep involvement in Zhang’s corruption case very possible.
Polymarket has opened markets on when Ren will appear in public: 16% before September 30, 51% by the end of October, 75% before December 31. Combined volume is about $12,000. The market’s read: not soon, more likely before year-end.
