Pakistan’s Public Works and Communications Minister Fazal Shakoor Khan has been abducted by unidentified armed men near Peshawar, according to local reports. The incident occurred on September 21 at Peshawar’s M-1 motorway. The armed men stopped the minister’s vehicle and forcibly took him to an unknown location. A video shared by PTI and reported by Dawn appears to show masked men approaching his car, with one opening the vehicle door while another fires at its tyres. His personal secretary, Waqar Khan, told Dawn that the minister was travelling from Islamabad to Charsadda when unidentified men intercepted his vehicle near the Rashakai Interchange on the Mardan Bypass. Police have launched investigations into the abductions, while a kidnapping case has been registered in connection with the minister’s disappearance. The circumstances surrounding the incidents, including the motives and the whereabouts of those reportedly abducted, remain unclear. The Peshawar High Court is also taking up a petition seeking Fazal Shakoor Khan’s recovery as authorities continue efforts to locate him.
