Russia may send some newly mobilized troops straight to war without training or adequate logistical support. This was stated by Vladislav Seleznev, a military expert and former press secretary of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, on Radio NV .
"I think everyone is experiencing a certain sense of déjà vu right now, because exactly the same processes took place four years ago, when the so-called Single Voting Day took place in 2022. Then, literally within a few weeks, Putin issued a decree on partial mobilization, during which approximately 450,000 Russians were drafted into the army," he said.
According to the expert, this mobilization significantly strengthened the Russian troop group. "I remember that over 1,100,000 male citizens of the Russian Federation aged 18 to 60 literally voted with their feet against such a mobilization, fleeing the Russian Federation by any means necessary or across any border. Nevertheless, this mobilization significantly strengthened the Russian troop concentration and fundamentally changed the overall situation on the battlefield. Will this process happen this time? We'll see in reality, because the same thing is happening here now," Seleznev explained.
At the same time, he emphasized that the key factor influencing mobilization, in addition to mobilization potential, is money.
"The enemy could likely exploit some of this human potential by immediately sending people into the hell of war without preparation, training, or adequate logistical support, literally as 'cannon fodder.' After all, we saw exactly the same thing in September-October 2022. Some personnel could be sent for training, education, to training centers, ranges, and training bases, but it's unlikely that the lion's share of those very men who could be drafted into the Russian army will be involved," he concluded. As reported, Ukrainian intelligence estimates that Russia can provide 600,000 mobilized troops, but lacks the resources to simultaneously train such a large number of occupiers. The agency explained that Russia has the resources for such a large-scale conscription, but simultaneously training all 600,000 reconnaissance personnel appears unrealistic due to a shortage of instructors, training grounds, and material and technical resources.
At the same time, Ukrainian intelligence noted that the Kremlin is capable of training up to 100,000 new fighters monthly for the war against Ukraine, despite the slowdown in the recruitment of contract soldiers.
