Soldiers from the Alter Ego unit of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade conducted their first logistics mission using an amphibious ground robotic system. According to the Ministry of Defense, the system covered more than 40 kilometers.
It is noted that on land, the vehicle maintained the high cross-country ability of a ground-based NRK, and near water, it switched to swimming mode in seconds and continued moving.
Thanks to this means, as the department noted, ammunition and provisions were successfully delivered to the positions.
They emphasized that the NRK was adapted specifically to the actual terrain and the daily tasks of the soldiers.
"Water obstacles at the front are a real challenge for military logistics. This deployment was preceded by several months of close collaboration between developers and the military, as the amphibious missile system was adapted specifically to the actual terrain and everyday tasks of soldiers. The Ministry of Defense, together with Brave1, continues to develop amphibious missile systems and is helping to scale up such solutions. We are making logistics more flexible to protect the lives of our people," the statement reads. As reported, to save the lives of personnel, the Ukrainian command is relying on flexible ground platforms that handle logistics, mine laying, wounded evacuation, and direct fire contact with the enemy. The next step is to transform isolated successes into a standardized, combined-arms doctrine.
The desire to minimize human presence on the front lines of defense has received strong government impetus. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a clear goal for the defense industry: to deliver at least 50,000 unmanned ground platforms to the military by 2026. Statistics confirm the Ukrainian industry's readiness for this challenge: a joint study by the KSE Institute, the Brave1 cluster, and Defense Builder showed that the domestic NPP market has grown by a whopping 488% by 2025 alone.
Initially, ground drones were used primarily as engineering assets. Today, they perform thousands of missions monthly. The most common use is logistics: delivering ammunition, water, and food to positions cut off by fire. Evacuating the wounded using robots has also become commonplace, although it requires meticulous planning.
