Russian President Vladimir Putin has stepped up his attacks on Ukraine as time to pressure Kyiv is running out, according to an analyst. What will the advent of ballistic missiles change? Military analyst, veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, and reserve major of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksiy Getman, stated this in a commentary to Unian . According to Getman, Putin is betting on Ukraine's lack of protective equipment.
"Putin is confident that he can dictate his terms as long as we don't have the necessary number of anti-ballistic missiles, as long as we don't have a sufficient number of missiles and interceptors against jet drones, and as long as we don't have the necessary number of our own ballistic missiles," Getman added.
As the analyst explained, this is precisely what the Russian president is basing his calculations on.
The situation could change when Ukraine gains the ability to launch ballistic missile strikes against Moscow, Hetman believes.
"After all, any drone attacks, for example on Moscow, are somewhat different from ballistic strikes on Moscow. Therefore, he understands perfectly well that we will soon have this," the military analyst noted.
Hetman recalled that the FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles had already been showcased at the arms exhibition. The former has a range of 300 km, while the latter has a range of over 800 km.
"And he knows full well that we'll soon have them in sufficient quantities. After that, it will be simply impossible to dictate terms to us."
"Any attack on Kyiv would be met with a powerful counterattack, a ballistic strike on Moscow. And he understands this perfectly well," Hetman emphasized.
According to the analyst, Russian troops continue to terrorize the civilian population of Ukraine and try to influence people.
Hetman believes that Russia is trying to achieve the emergence of a certain number of people who will put pressure on the Ukrainian authorities and demand an end to the war under any conditions.
