AI GeneratedLorenzo Salgado Jr. shares the heartbreaking story of his father, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, who was killed during a traffic stop. He reflects on his father's profound influence on his life and his commitment to seeking justice and awareness to prevent other families from enduring similar tragedies.
My name is Lorenzo Salgado Jr. and I'm the son of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo.
My father was shot on his way to work during a traffic stop. I found out about his passing,
about his condition through social media. You know, I caught the first flight to Houston hoping to
see him before I guess in the hospital as he was recovering and didn't get that chance and
I didn't see him again until his open casket. I want the world to keep being aware, to keep
learning my dad's name, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. He was my dad. He inspired me to be the man I am
to this day, to never stop learning and make sure that people know his name and that
knowing his name they don't forget his story and with that this doesn't happen to any other family
again. It's always his love of music that I always think about, think of. You know,
every time he got home he was, he was just whistling whatever song was in his heart,
was in his soul. I mean he really spurred my love for music. He bought me my first trombone
and in middle school and you know I found my best friends through middle school band. I found
my leadership ability through high school band and you know I would not have had that if it
weren't for my father. We're all pushing for the same thing, for answers, for justice and
it also strengthens us to continue with our, with our fight and you know we're standing shoulder
to shoulder with other behaving families who should have never been in this position
in the first place. Yeah, we'll stay united.
