With Russia's offensive in Donbas stalling , the Kremlin dictator has decided to resort to a tried-and-true method: intensifying terror among the civilian population to break their will to resist. Kyiv is among the priority targets. He allegedly ordered General Sergei Surovikin , known as "General Armageddon," to carry out this task. Under his command, the Syrian city of Aleppo was razed to the ground, killing thousands of civilians, according to The Telegraph .

Journalists recalled that Putin supported the Bashar al-Assad regime , and Russian mercenaries turned hospitals, schools, and residential areas into targets.

"The plan was simple: kill, maim, and terrorize civilians—make their lives so dangerous and unbearable that they would ultimately demand their government end the war. This plan failed in Syria," commentators note, adding that it will likely be the same in Ukraine, meaning it will all end in failure. The seven bridges across the Dnieper are obvious targets for the dictator, as Kyiv, like most capitals, is a major road and rail hub. Cutting the city in half would paralyze communication between the right and left banks not only of the city but of Ukraine as a whole. For several weeks now, Russian forces have been periodically attacking bridges in Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine.

"This is not the behavior of a man preparing to end a war. This is the behavior of a dictator preparing his population for a protracted conflict," British journalists conclude.

He's confident he can outmaneuver not only Ukraine but also the collective West. Putin doesn't care about human losses, as they're a cheap resource for the Kremlin.

Since the Russian Federation's population is larger, the dictator has no doubt that he will bring Kyiv to its knees.

At this time, there is no documentary or official evidence in open, reliable sources that Putin gave a separate, direct order to plan attacks specifically to Surovikin. To help Ukraine survive, the West must sharply increase supplies of anti-aircraft missiles, radars, drones, and electronic warfare systems.

Moreover, observers note, the time has come to consider options that seemed unthinkable just two years ago: "If Russia begins to deliberately target civilian infrastructure on an industrial scale, NATO should consider using its overwhelming air superiority to protect civilians and critical installations in Ukraine—without directly engaging in war. This does not necessarily mean immediately imposing a traditional no-fly zone. Rather, it requires a serious analysis of whether NATO air power can help protect specific areas or critical installations in a critical situation—especially when the alternative is the unpunished destruction of civilians by Russian missiles and drones."

If Putin understands that he will face no consequences for striking Kyiv, he will continue to do so. But if Britain and Europe demonstrate that Ukrainian cities will be protected, the people will receive support, and the army will receive the necessary supplies for as long as needed, Putin will be forced to acknowledge the futility of further terror.
