Videos shared on social media show a series of strikes targeting port infrastructure in Russia’s Rostov region on October 9 and 10, with drones and missiles used in the attacks. The strikes were followed by powerful explosions and massive fires, with enormous fireballs illuminating the night sky as flames engulfed areas around the targeted facilities. Footage circulating online shows large fires raging across the port, with thick plumes of smoke rising above the affected sites. The videos also capture activity around vessels in the ports, while crew members aboard at least some ships can be heard requesting evacuation amid growing safety concerns. One of the reported targets was an oil-loading terminal in Rostov-on-Don, where a major fire broke out following a drone attack overnight on October 9–10. The facility, identified by Ukrainian media as a terminal linked to the Novoshakhtinsk petroleum products plant and previously known as Yug Rusi, handles petroleum shipments for export and is reportedly involved in supplying fuel to Russian military forces. Rostov regional governor Yuri Slyusar confirmed a drone attack on the region and reported a fire in Rostov-on-Don. He also said a railway bridge had been damaged, forcing the suspension of train traffic in both directions. Separately, reports indicated that two vessels were damaged in the port city of Azov, on the Sea of Azov.
