AI GeneratedThe Broncos secured a win against the 0-5 Chargers to move to 3-2, but the victory masked a struggling offense. While the defense dominated to provide short fields, quarterback Bo Nix continues to face criticism for timid play and poor execution, leading to concerns about the team's offensive identity heading into their next game against Seattle.
The Broncos avoided disaster for now,
and they got a win against the Chargers.
They now continue to be a winless Chargers, a 0-5 Chargers.
The Broncos go to 3-2 on the season
and continue their gauntlet as they prepare now
for a Seattle team that just took a harsh,
harsh, hard loss to the Niners.
And we've got to be ready because that's going to be a crazy game.
I mean, we know we can play up to our standard.
when we faced a team like the Rams or the Jags,
who are very good teams.
But this was not our best.
In fact, I would say this was borderline close.
I mean, the worst performance of the season
was absolutely against the Chiefs
because the defense played pretty darn well
against the Chargers.
The Broncos won.
Bo Nix, there's a lot of questions
being asked about him right now.
Rightfully so.
I don't think you can play like this
the way that he has
and just chalk it up to first-game jitters.
we are now over a month into the season after this is the fifth game
and uh we are really trying
to figure out we feel like we're regressing
as an offensive identity um i said it when davis webb
gave up play calling duties to sean i said it
was a bad idea i don't think that that is the answer
and i at least for now i'm being proven right i
do not believe this team had a play calling issue
i believe that and everyone wanted wants to point at someone to blame
and as soon as this is the
thing is like I knew it was going to open
the floodgates for you know against Bo that if you
you know shift play calling to Sean
and things go just as badly or even worse people aren't going
to blame the coaching they're going to blame Bo
and thing is the tape doesn't lie Bo is missing
receivers there are clean pockets that he is not trusting
because it seems like he's worried to
get injured again he feels like he just can't trust like his own body
or something like that
there there is a timidness he still has confidence
don't get me wrong but there you know the
the frustration has returned you know
with his teammates you know waddle is starting to feel
where it's like what the heck man like we can't
do anything on offense and then in the fourth
quarter they do their thing they come back once again
and uh i think now like Bo is tied for
like the most comeback wins in the first three seasons of an NFL career
which is crazy uh he's
relying a bit too much on his uh his defense
that's without goes without saying with that
being said subscribe guys join the channel
as we talk through this and react to everything i'm
honestly this is gonna be a bit
of a different format i'm just gonna go through a bit of my
twitter feed see how people were reacting to the broncos game
and you guys can tell me whether this
is like a fun way to do things and uh we'll go from there
so the first thing that i saw on here
was the fact that um bo said
when talking about his performance i don't think it was the best
that is definitely understating it
but at the same time i i prefer that honesty over what sean did
um where it's uh where well sean said he wants bo
to let it rip this seems like this is a thing
that uh i don't know people are really
not understanding that like there are plays to
be made that Bo is not making
and now maybe Broncos fans are starting to see like okay this
is a Bo Nix problem not just a play calling thing
um the run game is still atrocious don't
get me wrong um and uh let's see here
um so Bo said uh give the team
a lot of credit or give uh
the defense most of the credit uh they don't win without
those short fields defense consistently
gave us those short fields um I agree
with that and Sean told Bo you're the guy we wanted here
let's go I want him to be sure let it rip
um Bo talking about right now there's just a little
subtle piece offensive execution that we're still working
for at times it's there which seems a lot
like only in the fourth quarter
and maybe a little bit in the first quarter but that's about it
um there's still some things that I can see
in process um Bo said that the play calling was
smooth with Sean and that's the thing
is I just I don't think it's a play calling issue
um the defense definitely won the game uh there's like
a you know constant short field that's going
to help absolutely uh we you know Quinn Meiners says
that today was a big game for him as he's
struggled in with the Chargers
in the past felt really good to conquer that personally
i said he had a lot of external stress uh
which is interesting um i don't know it's it's it's
just interesting like the amount of criticism that Bo
and the offense gets online it feels
like these guys don't listen to any
of that stuff they don't see any of it it's really interesting
Sean said that the offense was good enough
to win i don't like that at all this Chargers team is
really really bad um so just to be like oh
that was that was okay that was an acceptable offensive
performance is negligent at best
um Andrew Mason here says Denver escapes the defense came up
massive in the fourth quarter stepping up to give
the offense three short fields on fourth down stop
and two takeaways uh 20 of 23 Denver points came
on short fields Broncos often struggled to just
224 yards um yeah i agree i mean it's like
there's there's just everything seemed hard for
them everything um there's just a lot of like uh
a lot of things that that that the Broncos don't
seem to uh they don't trust i don't know themselves
this is a really confusing problem because
like yes i think Bo right now is the problem that like you know
when you're when you're a fan
you're always looking for what is potentially
the source of the troubles when there's a consistent
issue week by week you're wondering is it coaching
is it the players uh the execution the run game
and the blocking there is not great
but also the running back play is not great we are severely
missing Jonah Coleman uh who we've only seen play very briefly against
the Jags and now he's on a
short stint with IR so was Pat Bryant uh obviously we
were without Pat Surtain and Riley Moss still
had a great defensive performance despite all
of that um so yeah I mean the Chargers were also
really banged up so again there were still
no excuses to to do anything but win this game I
just uh I try and yeah I don't know people people
I mean a lot of Broncos people were saying like
this team stinks Bo's playing poorly thank
goodness like Herbert's playing even worse I agree
um that's really what it felt like to me
um on DNVR Broncos uh we we have here i think the number
one problem with the offense is that Bo is not healthy
or he doesn't look like it uh one of the
things uh that they were most concerned about
in the offseason was that he did no OTAs he did no
minicamp no preseason you need these kind of reps
that being said i feel like going into week five
you should be ramped up by now you're used
to the speed of the season um but now everyone's like
they've well because that's the thing is like people
are like okay i know we saw that bills
playoff game we have seen Bo play really well against the packers
when they had Micah Parsons
last season uh performance against you know second half jaguars uh
the performance against the rams
in the fourth quarter like there
are performances where it's like they just put on the superhuman
cape you know like how can we capture
that this this this version that lets like quote-unquote
lets it rip and it just feels like like the only answer
in my mind is a mental block and i feel
bad for Davis Webb because he was made a scapegoat
for something that wasn't his fault so uh there's
that um but uh hey at the very least guys we
are not Chargers fans it could be worse we have a
winning record right now we're tied with the Raiders uh
because they lost in pretty embarrassing
fashion uh today to the Patriots um and now
but yeah i mean it doesn't get easier Thursday night
the throwback game against Seattle that'll
be really interesting um people are almost chalking
that up already as an L uh i'm not willing to go there yet
but obviously offensively you have to
be better than what we showed uh today just
no doubt about it you are going to win very few games
playing that poorly um the running game everything it
was just like the offense couldn't do anything
right it was a really it i most people
are comparing this to like the Jets game from last
year i feel pretty similarly like
that that is a good equivalent where it's like man like how is
this team going to compete when they're struggling
with like like this bad of a team they're in a dog
fight and barely surviving
and the offense looks this bad like poorly how do you fix this and then
obviously things just evolve over the season things get
a little bit better at the very least
um at least it did last year i have to believe it will
this year um you know it's just a weird
it's a i i it is an absolute mystery as to how
the Broncos can keep doing this like winning
last minute last second they obviously weren't able
to do it last week against the Niners that
is a really good team you could argue almost
the best team in the NFL right now so um but still
i'm worried about Seattle we'll you know we'll cross that bridge
when we get to it but uh what
do you guys think about this performance uh what
do you think about Bo Nix what do you think
about just all of it do you have any thoughts about what
to expect going forward will changes
be made will they give play calling back
to Davis Webb at some point i don't think they will
but uh you know Davis has to be kind
of like going like see i tried like it went even worse
this time around with Sean like
so it's uh yeah we'll see we'll see i want to hear your guys
thoughts and until next video i'll see you then
